The purpose of this study was to explore the nature of parent education programs for fathers with children aged 1 through 5 year-old. One-Hundred forty-four fathers were answered using questionaire designed to elicit their perception of fathering, the details of domain parent education, and parent education program. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively to determine the contents of parent education program as perceived by the fathers. The results of this study were as follows; 1. Fathers perceived about parent education as 'The training of living behavior', 'The education about essential method of living manners and the guidance for children.' Also, fathers commented some difficult points of raising children as; 'children' sickness', 'Parents' permission or control', and 'Childrens' stubborness'. Many fathers pointed their shortages; 'to be a model of habit and behavior', 'Lacking of enough experience and imagination to their children', and 'Limiting parent's patience to their children'. 2. On the domain of parent education, six subscales of requisite degree was very high. The highest requisite domains like three questions of 34 subordinate question was; 'to encourage their children their children', knowledge about how to develop children' emotions', 'knowledge of their influence to their children' humanity'. 3. Fathers answered that a parent education was needed in infant period. They choose suitable time and place, from p.m.6 to p.m. 9 on a day and once in a week in the kindergarten. Also, the contents of parent education program were needed in order as follows; 'Communication method with a child', 'Formation of living behavior'. The Korean government implemented better support for adolescent single-parent families by expanding the coverage of the Single-parent Family Support Act in 2010. In order to understand the effect, this study verified the moderating effect of the single-parent family policy's support for child rearing in the context of adolescent female single-parent's stress levels and education sustainability. This study utilized part of the National Youth Policy Institute's 'Research on the Actual Condition of the Adolescent Pregnancy, Birth and Rearing Children'. Participants of the study were 248 adolescent single-parents aged 24 and below. The findings and discussion of this study are as follows. First, the stress level of adolescent female single-parent in continuing studies was lower than those for discontinued studies. Students who discontinued their education in the middle of studies showed an increase in life stress level relative to age because they had a low level of education and had discontinued studies before pregnancy. Second, the public nanny service has been verified as an element to increase the continuation of education by controlling the level of stress. It is advisable to fortify and expand the scope of support for childcare services in the form of a study assistant or child education assistant. Last, adolescent single-parent childcare subsidies have been verified as a direct factor that raised the meaningful level of education continuity potential to a meaningful standard that can be seen as a more effective method than general policy support for single-parent families.
The purposes of this study were to identify the relationship between parent and child with chronic illness and developmental disability, and to review the strategy for improvement of their relationship. The effects of chronic illness and developmental disability is that the child has delayed growth and development, and his(her) parent has sadness, guilty feeling, anxiety, grief, disappointment, low self-esteem, anger and resentment. Chronic illness and developmental disability also have a negative effect to the parental marital relationship. The reaction of parent and child varies in age of onset, a developmental transition period, crisis and parent-child relationship. Through this study, I propose that parent-child relationship could be improved by touch, communication between them and education for parents.
The purpose of this study was to investigate relationship between parent's supportive parenting and adolescent sexual values. The subjects were 137 adolescents who attended high school in Keoungbok. Statistical techniques were Factor Analysis, Crosstabs, Two-way ANOVA, Scheffe' test, Multiple Regression. The results of this were as follows. First, Adolescents who more perceived supportive parenting from a parent were more likely to consult with parents about one's own sexual problems. Second, There was significant difference in adolescent sexual values by parent's supportive parenting levels or gender. Adolescents who perceived more supportive parenting from parent, or who were boys were more likely to have positive sexual values. But there was no significant interaction effect of supportive parenting level and gender on adolescent sexual values. Finally, The Multiple Regression analysis showed that gender was the stronger predictor of adolescent sexual values than parent's supportive parenting.
This study investigated effects of parent-related variables on children's coping with stress. Subjects were 409 4th, 5th, and 6th grade children(213 boys and 196 girls) selected from three elementary schools in Seoul and Incheon. Data were analyzed by frequency, mean, and hierachical multiple regression. Major findings were that among the inter-parental conflicts perceived by the children, self-blame and triangulation affects children's coping behavior resulting in children's aggressive and passive/avoidant behaviors. The more children experience parent-related stress, the more children show aggressive and passive/avoidant coping behaviors. With more open-communication in parent-child relations, children's coping shows more active and social support seeking coping behaviors during stress situations.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of parent-teacher relationships on mothers' parenting efficacy especially for toddlers. Methods: 225 mothers of toddlers completed questionnaires on parent-teacher relationships and parenting efficacy. This study used technical statistics, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis in order to analyze the collected data. Results: First, there was a significant correlation between parent-teacher relationships and mothers' parenting efficacy. Second, the parent-teacher relationships was an important factor in predicting mothers' parenting efficacy. In particular, when a teacher and mother develop practical collaboration for caring for and educating a child, the mothers' parenting efficacy was higher. Conclusion/Implications: These findings indicate that the parent-teacher relationship is a significant factor in order to improve the quality of parenting. The results especially support the importance of collaboration between teachers and parents and suggest that we need to find practical ways for collaborating in the field. Limitations of this study and implications for future research were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating roles of children interpersonal relations and mental health in the relationship between parent-child relationships and school life happiness, and the differences between single-parent and two-parent families, using structural equation modeling. Data were obtained from the 2013(second-wave) year of the Korean Educational Longitudinal Study. This study selected 6,643 elementary school 6th-grade students(756 from single-parent families and 5,887 from two-parent families). Data were examined with structural equation modeling and multi-group analysis using AMOS 18.0, and mediating effects were tested using the Sobel test. The results were as follows; First, the single-parent children reported lower levels of interpersonal relations, mental health, and school life happiness than the two-parent children. Second, interpersonal relations and mental health did play a mediating role in the relationship between parent-child relationships and school life happiness. Third, as a result of examining for total effect, the variable that most influenced school life happiness of children was interpersonal relations. The subjects were 287 college students(107 boys and 180 girls) in Daegu and Kyoungbuk Province. Questionnaires were used to investigate the college students' depression, anxiety and school adjustment and parents' marital conflict and parent-adolescent communication perceived by college students. Data were analyzed by SPSS-WIN program, including median, mean, standard deviation, correlational analysis, and regression. Results were as follows. (1) The college students who perceived their parents' marital conflict as lower and parent-adolescent communication as positive were less depressive and less anxious and were good at school than those who perceived them as higher and negative. (2) The college students of the family with negative parent-adolescent communication and high parents' marital conflict were more negative in psycho-social adjustment than those of the family with positive parent-adolescent communication or low parents' marital conflict. (3) The regression analysis showed that college students' perception of positive parent-adolescent communication was more influential on college students' psycho-social adjustment than the parents' marital conflict perceived by college students.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of parent's nutritional education for body weight control of obese children. The weight control program include nutritional education, exercise and behavioral therapy during 20 weeks. Twenty- three children completed this program, the children were divided into two groups by control group and parent's nutritional education group. Parents volunteered to participate in a 4 week nutritional education program for parents and contact the therapist at least once per week to help their obese children. The results from this study were as follows. There were not significant differences in anthropometric values after weight control program between two groups. Triglyceride(TG) level in serum was decreased after weight control program in group of parent's nutritional education, but there was not significant difference. Parent's nutritional education did not add improvements in weight and fitness, but the children of parent's nutritional education group showed increased general self-worth upon completing the program(p<0.05) whereas the other children of control group did not. Also there were desirable changes of exercise and life habits in group of parent's nutritional education group.
