마이크로어레이 자료분석에서 모수적 방법을 이용한 유전자군의 유의성 검정 (Developing a Parametric Method for Testing the Significance of Gene Sets in Microarray Data Analysis)

  • 마이크로어레이 기술은 수만 개 유전자의 발현 패턴을 동시에 관찰하는 것을 가능하게 하였고, 이들을 하나씩 검정하여 찾아낸 특이발현 현상을 보이는 유전자를 중심으로 질병의 진단, 치료법 정립과 신약 개발을 위한 기본 정보를 확립하였다. 그러나 개별 유전자분석의 여러 문제점이 발견되면서 유전자들을 생물학적 대사경로나 염색체 위치가 같은 것끼리 묶은 집단을 분석하여 질병의 발생이나 생존에 영향을 미치는 집단을 찾는 방법이 제시되었다. 이러한 유전자 집단의 유의성에 대한 연구는 2002년에 MIT에서 비롯되어 GSEA, SAM-GS와 중심극한 정리의 개념을 이용한 모수적 방법인 PAGE 등이 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이들 통계량의 구조적 한계를 극복하고 계산이 간단한 새로운 모수적 방법을 제안하고 자료 분석을 통하여 효율성을 보였다.

4 × 4 그레코라틴방격모형의 검정력 연구 (Power study for 4 × 4 graeco-latin square design)

  • $4{\times}4$ 그레코라틴방격모형은 모집단의 분포에 상관없이 주효과 검정을 위한 순위변환 통계량의 검정력이 모수적 통계량의 검정력보다 전체적으로 높은 우위성을 갖는다. 효과크기가 균등간격이 아닌 경우에 주효과 검정을 위한 순위변환 통계량의 검정력은 효과크기가 균등간격인 경우보다 다소 낮지만 모수적 통계량의 검정력에 비하여 월등한 비교우위를 갖는다. 순위변환 통계량의 검정력은 블럭효과의 수가 줄어들거나 효과크기가 작아질수록 모수적 통계량의 검정력보다 월등히 우세함을 보인다. 블럭효과들이 존재할 때는 주효과에 비하여 블럭효과들이 모두 작거나 하나의 블럭효과에 편중된 경우에 순위변화 통계량의 검정력이 모수적 통계량의 검정력보다 더욱 우수하다. 이는 상호작용없이 다인자인 네 개의 주인자 및 블럭인자만으로 구성된 그레코라틴방격모형의 특성에 의한 결과로, 앞으로 구체화하지 못한 다인자로 구성된 요인실험계획모형 등에 확대 적용할 순위변환기법의 가능성을 제시한다.

Passive suppression of helicopter ground resonance instability by means of a strongly nonlinear absorber

  • In this paper, we study a problem of passive suppression of helicopter Ground Resonance (GR) using a single degree freedom Nonlinear Energy Sink (NES), GR is a dynamic instability involving the coupling of the blades motion in the rotational plane (i.e. the lag motion) and the helicopter fuselage motion. A reduced linear system reproducing GR instability is used. It is obtained using successively Coleman transformation and binormal transformation. The analysis of the steadystate responses of this model is performed when a NES is attached on the helicopter fuselage. The NES involves an essential cubic restoring force and a linear damping force. The analysis is achieved applying complexification-averaging method. The resulting slow-flow model is finally analyzed using multiple scale approach. Four steady-state responses corresponding to complete suppression, partial suppression through strongly modulated response, partial suppression through periodic response and no suppression of the GR are highlighted. An algorithm based on simple criterions is developed to predict these steady-state response regimes. Numerical simulations of the complete system confirm this analysis of the slow-flow dynamics. A parametric analysis of the influence of the NES damping coefficient and the rotor speed on the response regime is finally proposed.

Lean startup 방법을 적용한 디지털 패브리케이션 통합 건축 설계 프로세스 (Digital Fabrication Integrated Architectural Design Process based on Lean startup)

  • Recently, the industry actively adopts the cutting-edge technologies of the fourth industrial revolution and uses them to enhance the productivity and service of mass-customization. The manufacturing industry is creating new processes and business models by achieving digital transformations through a lean start-up approach aimed at achieving the highest customer satisfaction with minimal resources. Although attempts are made to manufacture the building by introducing the latest technology in architecture, it is applied sporadically, not as an integrated system, in the entire phase of the architectural project. This paper analyzes the changes in the construction industry through the application of core technologies of the fourth industrial revolution. Design processes are analyzed for the digital transformation of the construction industry by case study of advanced architectural design practice. A novel design concept model 'Architectural lean startup' is proposed by combining the architectural process and the lean start up method. Through the design of the bus stop based on the architectural lean startup concept, it is confirmed that the designer repeats the 'Generate-Test-Analysis' to develop the design and generate the final result.

파라메트릭 활성함수를 이용한 심층신경망의 성능향상 방법 (Performance Improvement Method of Deep Neural Network Using Parametric Activation Functions)

  • 심층신경망은 임의의 함수를 근사화하는 방법으로 선형모델로 근사화한 후에 비선형 활성함수를 이용하여 추가적 근사화를 반복하는 근사화 방법이다. 이 과정에서 근사화의 성능 평가 방법은 손실함수를 이용한다. 기존 심층학습방법에서는 선형근사화 과정에서 손실함수를 고려한 근사화를 실행하고 있지만 활성함수를 사용하는 비선형 근사화 단계에서는 손실함수의 감소와 관계가 없는 비선형변환을 사용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 활성함수에 활성함수의 크기를 변화시킬 수 있는 크기 파라메터와 활성함수의 위치를 변화시킬 수 있는 위치 파라미터를 도입한 파라메트릭 활성함수를 제안한다. 파라메트릭 활성함수를 도입함으로써 활성함수를 이용한 비선형 근사화의 성능을 개선시킬 수 있다. 각 은닉층에서 크기와 위치 파라미터들은 역전파 과정에서 파라미터들에 대한 손실함수의 1차 미분계수를 이용한 학습과정을 통해 손실함수 값을 최소화시키는 파라미터를 결정함으로써 심층신경망의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. MNIST 분류 문제와 XOR 문제를 통하여 파라메트릭 활성함수가 기존의 활성함수에 비해 우월한 성능을 가짐을 확인하였다.

Jackknife Estimator of Logistic Transformation from Truncated Data

  • In medical follow-up, equipment lifetesting, various military situations, and other fields, one often desires to calculate survival probability as a function of time, p(t). If the observer is able to record the time of occurrence of the event of interest (called a 'death'), then an empirical, non-parametric estimate may simply by obtained from the fraction of survivors after various elapsed times. The estimation is more complicated when the data are truncated, i.e., when the observer loses track of some individuals before death occurs. The product-limit method of Kaplan and Meier is one way of estimating p(t) when the mechanism causing truncation is independent of the mechanism causing death. This paper proposes jackknife estimators of logistic trans-formation and compares it to the product-limit method. A computer simulation is used to generate the times of death and truncation from a variety of assumed distributions.

  • In this study, a numerical method is developed for nonlinear analysis for soil-pile-structure interaction system in time domain. Finite elements considering material nonlinearity are used for the near field and boundary elements for the far field. In the near field, frame elements are used for modeling a pile and plane-strain elements for surrounding soil and superstructure. In. the far field, boundary element formulation using the dynamic fundamental solution is adopted and coupled with the near field. Transformation of stiffness matrices of boundary elements into time domain is performed by inverse FFT. Stiffness matrices in the near field and far field are coupled. Newmark direct time integration method is applied. Developed soil-pile-structure interaction analysis method is verified with available literature and commercial code. Also, parametric studies by developed numerical method are performed. And seismic response analysis is performed using actual earthquake records.

Measurement Error Modeling for On-Machine Measurement of Sculptured Surfaces

  • The objective of this research is to develop a measurement error model for sculptured surface in On-Machine Measurement(OMM) process based on a closed-loop configuration. The geometric error model of each axis of a vertical CNC machining center is derived using a 4$\times$4 homogeneous transformation matrix. The ideal locations of a touch-type probe for the sculptured surface measurement are calculated from the parametric surface representation and X-, Y- directional geometric errors of the machine. Also the actual coordinates of the probe are calculated by considering the pre-travel variation of a probe and Z-directional geometric errors. Then, the step-by-sep measurement error analysis method is suggested based on a closed-loop configuration of the machining center including workpiece and probe errors. The simulation study shows the simplicity and effectiveness of the proposed error modeling strategy.

  • Recently, Tailor Welded Blank (TWB) is widely used in automotive industry since the transformation characteristic of its material can be changed. However, clearance between welding surfaces becomes the important factor which affect the quality of the laser weld, causing difficulties in preparing the sheet. The objective of this paper is to systematically evaluate the effects of previously presented fracture criterion and shearing condition on precise mechanical shearing simulation result. For this purpose, a parametric study was peformed to investigate the effect of finite element size and fracture criterion on simulation result. Also, in order to predict the optimum shearing condition, effect of shearing conditions such as clearance and punch radius on the shear plane shape was evaluated.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive observer for electrically driven mobile robots in the presence of parametric uncertainties. To estimate the unmeasured velocities of the mobile robot, we develop an adaptive observer using the transformation matrices which can solve the difficulty caused by the quadratic velocity terms depending on the uncertain parameters. Using the Lyapunov stability theory, we prove that all signals in a closed-loop system converge to zero. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed observer system.
