Evaluation of Characteristic for SS400 and STS304 Steel by Weld Thermal Cycle Simulation - 3rd Report: Residual Stress and Ultrasonic Parameter (용접열사이클 재현에 의한 SS400강 및 STS304강의 특성 평가 - 제3보: 잔류응력과 초음파 파라미터)

  • The temperature distribution in the weldment is not uniform because a weldment is locally heated. Thermal plastic deformation results from the local expansion and shrinkage by the heating and cooling of metal. Therefore, residual stresses and distortion occur in the weldment. In this study, we had conducted on the weld thermal cycle simulation that is supposed as the HAZ on SS400 steel and STS304 steel. The residual stresses that were obtained from the drawing and the weld thermal cycle simulation were estimated by X-ray diffraction. We also carried out ultrasonic test for the weld thermal cycle simulated specimens, and then conducted on nondestructive evaluation by the ultrasonic parameters obtained ultrasonic test. From the results, residual stresses of weld thermal cycle simulated specimens after the residual stress removal heat treatment are lower than that of the drawing.

  • A purpose of this research is building a Parameter Evaluation Simulation(PES) program which is present proper parameter value to calculate line capacity. This research performs a detailed simulation and a analysis of it using PES and it is developed on the basis of Line Capacity Simulation model. Chosen simulation sectors are that happened a big change of a line capacity because of joining a high speed train(KTX). Moreover this research performs a sensitivity analysis when basic data are changed.

Ductile Fracture Behaviour under Mode I Loading Using Rousellier Ductile Damage Theory

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the ductile fracture behaviour under Mode I loading using SA533B pressure vessel steel. Experiments consist of the Round Notch Bar Test (RNB), Single Edge Crack Bending Test (SECB), and V-Notch Bar Test (VNB). Results from the RNB test were used to tune the damage modelling constant. The other tests were performed to acquire the J-resistance curves and to confirm the damage constants. Microstructural observation includes the measurement of crack profile to obtain the roughness parameter. Finally, simulation using Rousellier Ductile Damage Theory (RDDT) was carried out with 4-node quadrilateral element ($L_c=0.25\;mm$). For the crack advance, the failed element removal technique was adopted with a ${\beta}$ criterion. In conclusion, the predicted simulation using RDDT showed a good agreement with the experimental results. A trial using a roughness parameter was made for a new evaluation of J-resistance curve, which is more conservative than the conventional one.

  • In this paper, in order to apply Prognostics and Health Management(PHM) to an electronic system or circuit, a circuit capable of detecting and predicting defect characteristics inside the system or circuit is implemented, and the results are described. In the previous study, we demonstrated that the frequency of the amplitude of S-parameter changed as the circuit defect progressed. These characteristics were measured by network analyser. but in this study, even if the same defect detection method is used, a circuit is proposed to check the progress of the defect, the remaining time, and the occurrence of the defect without large measurement devices. The circuit is designed to detect the change in impedance that generates changes of S-parameter, and it is verified through simulation using the measurement results of Bond-wires.

  • CPV system is composed with CPV cells, modules, PCS(power conditioning system), solar tracker, system installation and balance of systems(BOS). Mention about modelling method which is applied for CPV system simulation and evaluation system analysis. This paper focuses on CPV system modeling and optimal design of the electric energy production analysis through the development of proposed optimal CPV system simulation. Calculated simulation results of the generalized CPV system in regard to loss parameter calculation method can make out optimal configuration of CPV system with high reliability and stability. The loss parameter calculation method establish a mathematical modeling for the purposed of simulation and utilization various data for economical analysis of the CPV system design.

  • In this paper, several tire models (Magic formula, Carpet plot, VA tire, DADS tire and STI tire) are implemented and compared. Since the STI (System Technology Inc.) tire model in the AutoDyn7 program is in a good agreement to NADSdyna STI tire model and experiment, it is selected as a reference tire model for the comparison. To compare tire models, input parameters of each tire model are extracted from the STI tire model to preserve the same tire properties. Several simulations are carried out to compare performances of tire models, i. e., bump simulation, lane change simulation, and pulse steering simulation. The performances in vehicle maneuverability are also compared with the four parameter evaluation method.

  • Networking for manufacturing is gaining importance as a nerve system of computer-integrated manufacturing(CIM). Among the various network types, the most inexpensive type called fieldbus is specifically aimed to interconnect simple devices such as sensors and actuators. For this purpose, there are several choices of the protocol such as Profibus, FIP, Foundation Fieldbus, and IEC/ISA fieldbus. This paper presents the simulation results of Profibus and FIP. Both protocols has been simulated in order to evaluate the performance such as transmission delay and throughput under different protocol parameter setting and traffic conditions.

  • Hydraulic excavators have been one of the most popular devices in the various industries for construction, forestry and agriculture etc. Because the excavators generally work in poor environment, the various organizations study to automate those. In this paper, a hydraulic simulation for evaluation of automatical excavation system is presented. It is using the AMESim based on the 1.5 ton excavator with fixed displacement pumps, and operated by signals those control pilot pressure to spools of the main control valve. The main control valve is regarded that only consists of boom, arm and bucket. This simulation program is expected to apply to evaluation of the controller for automatic excavation system and to estimate of effect in accordance with change of some components or parameter.

  • Parameters and quantiles of the 2-parameter generalized Pareto distribution were estimated using the methods of regular moments, modified moments, probability weighted moments, linear moments, maximum likelihood, and entropy for Monte Carlo-generated samples. The performance of these seven estimators was statistically compared, with the objective of identifying the most robust estimator. It was found that in general the methods of probability-weighted moments and L-moments performed better than the methods of maximum likelihood estimation, moments and entropy, especially for smaller values of the coefficient of variation and probability of exceedance.

Reliability Evaluation of RF Power Amplifier for Wireless Transmitter

  • A class-E RF(Radio Frequency) power amplifier for wireless application is designed using standard CMOS technology. To drive the class-E power amplifier, a class-F RF power amplifier is used and the reliability characteristics are studied with a class-E load network. The reliability characteristic is improved when a finite-DC feed inductor is used instead of an RF choke with the load. After one year of operating, when the load is an RF choke the output current and voltage of the power amplifier decrease about 17% compared to initial values. But when the load is a finite DC-feed inductor the output current and voltage decrease 9.7%. The S-parameter such as input reflection coefficient(S11) and the forward transmission scattering parameter(S21) is simulated with the stress time. In a finite DC-feed inductor the characteristics of S-parameter are changed slightly compared to an RF-choke inductor. From the simulation results, the class-E power amplifier with a finite DC-feed inductor shows superior reliability characteristics compared to power amplifier using an RF choke.
