웹 캠을 이용한 스테레오 영상의 3차원 거리 측정 (3D Distance Measurement of Stereo Images Using Web Cams)

  • In this paper, we propose a three dimensional distance measurement method for a stereo system by using web cams. Using a parallel stereo system, a robot gets two images from each webcam and equalize brightness of both images. And we suggest an image processing method such as labeling, isolating an object from background and finding center of an object. We also propose a method of calculating the focal distance by using least square algorithm based on triangulation and we can reduce calculation error by this method. From experimental results, we show that the proposed method can be effective for 3D distance measurement.

Synthesis of Japanese Encephalitis Virus in Porcine Kidney Stable Cells Observed by Fluorescent Antibody Technique and Autoradiography

  • The site of the synthesis of Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV) in the actinomycin-treated and infecter PS Y15 cells(a porcine kidney stable cell line) was observed by the immunofluorescent antibody technique, acridine orange staining, and the autoradiographic analysis. In the parallel studies by immunofluorescent technique and acridine orange staining it the infected cells, Viral protein(as an antigen) and viral RNA were detected at the same site of cytoplasm. In the autoradiographic analysis, the cytoplasmic labeling of $^3H$-uridine was due to the synthesis of JEV-RNA, while the nucleolus and nucleus were not involved. In the autoradiographic studies on the secton of infected cells, the $^3H$-uridine was frequently incorporated around the cytoplasmic vacuoles. This localization of labeling agreed with the site of acridine orange positive granules. The results suggest that the syntheses of the viral RNA and viral protein occurred in the similar site of cytoplasm of the infected cells, and also the virus particles seem to be assembled in the sites of the viral RNA and protein syntheses.

  • In this paper, an efficient connected component labeling (CCL) method was proposed. The proposed method is based on GPU parallelism. The CCL is very important in various applications where images are analysed. However, the label of each pixel is dependent on the connectivity of adjacent pixels so that it is not very easy to be parallelized. In this paper, a GPU-based parallel CCL techniques were proposed and applied to the analysis of radar signal. Since the radar signals contains complex and large data, the efficiency of the algorithm is crucial when realtime analysis is required. The experimental results show the proposed method is efficient enough to be successfully applied to this application.

  • The first four generations of computers are all based on a single basic design: the Von Neuman Processor, which is sequential and does one operation at a time. Efforts to develop concurrent or parallel computers have been carried on for many years. Data flow approach is significant in these efforts to make high speed parallel machines and expected a great deal of parallelism. In this paper we propose a preliminary data Flow Machine Model operating asynchronously on the base of Node Labelling. We introduce a concept of Node Labeling for this purpose which is relevant to the Data dependency and Parallelism. And we explain how the Node Tokens are fired in the proposed system.

개선된 세포 외곽선 추출 알고리즘의 병렬화 (Improved Parallelization of Cell Contour Extraction Algorithm)

  • A fast cell contour extraction method using CUDA parallel processing technique is presented. The cell contour extraction is one of important processes to analyze cell information in pathology. However, conventional sequential contour extraction methods are slow for a huge high-resolution medical image, so they are not adequate to use in the field. We developed a parallel morphology operation algorithm to extract cell contour more quickly. The algorithm can create an inner contour and fail to extract the contour from the concave part of the cell. We solved these problems by subdividing the contour extraction process into four steps: morphology operation, labeling, positioning and contour extraction. Experimental results show that the proposed method is four times faster than the conventional one.

  • 내포 병렬성을 가지는 병렬 프로그램은 동기화 없이 병행적으로 수행되는 양상으로 인하여 비결정적인 결과를 초래하는 경향이 있다. 이러한 오류를 탐지하기 위하여 다양한 시각화 기법이 이용되고 있지만, 공간의 제한성과 과다한 추상화로 인하여 직관성이 매우 저하되는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 내포 병렬성을 가지는 복잡한 병렬 프로그램의 전역적 구조를 사용자에게 제공하는3차원 시각화 엔진을 제안한다. 제안된 시각화 엔진은 전역적 구조를 사용자에게 제공함으로서 프로그램의 이해를 용이하게 하고 효과적인 디버깅 환경을 제공한다.

Real-Time Container Shape and Range Recognition for Implementation of Container Auto-Landing System

  • In this paper, we will present a container auto-landing system, the system use the stereo camera to measure the container depth information. And the container region can be detected by using its hough line feature. In the line feature detection algorithm, we will detect the parallel lines and perpendicular lines which compose the rectangle region. Among all the candidate regions, we can select the region with the same aspect-ratio to the container. The region will be the detected container region. After having the object on both left and right images, we can estimate the distance from camera to object and container dimension. Then all the detect dimension information and depth inform will be applied to reconstruct the virtual environment of crane which will be introduce in this paper. Through the simulation result, we can know that, the container detection rate achieve to 97% with simple background. And the estimation algorithm can get a more accuracy result with a far distance than the near distance.

A Prosodic Labeling System of Intonation Patterns and Prosodic Structures in Korean

  • The system proposed in this paper prosodically transcribes the intonation patterns, prosodic structures, phrasings, and other prosodic aspects of Korean utterances, on four parallel tiers: a tone tier, an orthographic tier, a break index tier, and a miscellaneous tier. The tone tier employs two phrase accents (L* and H *), three accentual phrase boundary tones (L-, H-, LH-), and four intonational phrase boundary tones (L%,H%,LH%,LHL%) in order to provide a phonological transcription of pitch events associated with accented syllables and phrase boundaries. The break index tier uses five break indices, numbered from 0 to 4, which mark a prosodic grouping of words and its prosodic structure in an utterance. Among the five indices, the break index 3 and the break index 4 align with an accentual phrase boundary tone and an intonational phrase boundary tone, respectively, in the tone tier.

A CPU-GPU Hybrid System of Environment Perception and 3D Terrain Reconstruction for Unmanned Ground Vehicle

  • Environment perception and three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction tasks are used to provide unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) with driving awareness interfaces. The speed of obstacle segmentation and surrounding terrain reconstruction crucially influences decision making in UGVs. To increase the processing speed of environment information analysis, we develop a CPU-GPU hybrid system of automatic environment perception and 3D terrain reconstruction based on the integration of multiple sensors. The system consists of three functional modules, namely, multi-sensor data collection and pre-processing, environment perception, and 3D reconstruction. To integrate individual datasets collected from different sensors, the pre-processing function registers the sensed LiDAR (light detection and ranging) point clouds, video sequences, and motion information into a global terrain model after filtering redundant and noise data according to the redundancy removal principle. In the environment perception module, the registered discrete points are clustered into ground surface and individual objects by using a ground segmentation method and a connected component labeling algorithm. The estimated ground surface and non-ground objects indicate the terrain to be traversed and obstacles in the environment, thus creating driving awareness. The 3D reconstruction module calibrates the projection matrix between the mounted LiDAR and cameras to map the local point clouds onto the captured video images. Texture meshes and color particle models are used to reconstruct the ground surface and objects of the 3D terrain model, respectively. To accelerate the proposed system, we apply the GPU parallel computation method to implement the applied computer graphics and image processing algorithms in parallel.

The glyoxysomal nature of microbodies complexed with lipid globules in Botryospheria dothidea.

  • The glyoxysomal nature of microbodies was determined in Botryosphaeria dothidea hyphae based on morphology and in situ enzyme characteristics by transmission electron microscopy and cytochemistry. Bound by a single membrane, microbodies had a homogeneous matrix and varied in size ranging from 200 to 400 m in diameter. Microbodies had crystalline inclusion(s) which consisted of parallel arrays of fine tubules in their matrices. Microbodies and lipid globules were frequently placed in close association with each other, forming microbody-lipid globule complexes in hyphae. The cytochemical activities of catalase and malate synthase were localized in matrices of microbodies, showing intense electron-density of the organelle. In addition, the immunogold labeling detected the presence of catalase in multivesicular bodies and hyphal cell walls as well as in matrices and crystalline inclusions of microbodies, supporting the enzyme secretion through cell walls. Meanwhile, isocitrate Iyase was localized only in matrices of microbodies. These results suggest that microbodies, particularly complexed with lipid globules, in the fungal hyphae are functionally defined as glyoxysomes, where glyoxysomal enzymes are biochemically active for the glyoxylate cycle to be a metabolic pathway in gluconeogenesis.
