  • This paper has examined and analyzed the ways of making Jang(Korean soybean sauce), vinegar and liquor in terms of food processes, which are mentioned in sooljip 5 and 6 Food collections of 'Kosa-sibi Jip', an encyclopaedia written in Chinese and published in 1789-the eleventh year of King Jung-jo of Chosun Dynasty. There respestively six items of nine items of and thirty three items of the recipe for making jang, vinegar and liquor, Soybean was a major material for making jang. And wheat flour and ground barley were added. Myun-jang was made from only flour. Dong-kook Jojang Bup(oriental soybean sauce preparation) which is the traditional Korean process for making jang from only soybean is recorded in this book. The cereals used in the nine items of the vinegar making recipe were rice(six times), wheat(twice), barley(three times) and wheat flour(once). And fruits are also used. Rice was most used of all these materials. The cereals used in the thirty three items of the liquor-making recipe were regular rice(50%), sticky rice(42.6%) and wheat flour(7.4%) In particular sticky rice was much used for Yakyee Rhue and Bok-sik Rhue for medications. The ways of processing cereals for liquor-making were Jee-ae-bop : steamed rice(52.9%), Jook:thick gruel with cereal (32.3%), Goo-mung Tuck: doughnut-shaped rice cake(8.8%) and Hin-moo-ree Tuck: shawith peless rice cake(2.9%). The three unique processes are as follows. First, in winter when the process of liquor-making did not go on because the jar was cold, the bottle with hot water in was put in the jar and so the aduquate temperature for liquor-making was maintained. Next, in warming up a small double boiler, they prevented effervescence by hanging down thread. Finally. in warming up in a double boiler, they sealed the mouth-piece of the jar and put a handful of wet rice when the rice was completely cooked, it was thought of as the sign that the process of liquor-making was done.

  • An accurate evaluation of structural damage is essential to performance-based seismic design for the structure across the earth fissure. By comparing the calculation results from three commonly used damage models and the experimental results, a weighted combination method using Chen model was selected in this paper as the seismic damage evaluation. A numerical model considering the soil-structure interaction (SSI) was proposed using ABAQUS software. The model was calibrated by comparing with the experimental results. The results from the analysis indicated that, for the structure across the earth fissure, the existence of earth fissure changed the damage distribution of the structural members. The damage of structural members in the hanging wall was greater than that in the foot wall. Besides, the earth fissure enlarged the damage degree of the structural members at the same location and changed the position of the weak story. Moreover, the damage degree of the structure across the earth fissure was greater than that of the structure without the earth fissure under the same excitation. It is expected that the results from this research would enhance the understanding of the performance-based seismic design for the structure across the earth fissure.

  • Recently, the development paradigm of enterprise information system has been moved from 2-tier environment to 3-tier environment. 3-tier environment makes possible to develop more efficient system in terms of the performance, extension, deployment and maintenance. The ship drawing process management system which manages a long-term drawing process and a great number of designers has to support an accuracy and a real-time of information but it is impossible because it is still served in 2-tier environment and some process of them is not developed yet. In this paper, we implemented the analysis and design of system based on CBD(Component Based Development) for the purpose of hanging the environment from two-dimensional Client/server architecture environment to COM+ based 3-tier architecture environment. And by completing a development of total system, the productivity and the efficiency of the ship drawing process management system will be improved. And a wide reuse of components makes possible to improve the productivity and efficiency of system.

  • In order to build a ship, painting on ship cargo tank is one of the most dangerous parts as it involves working in high altitudes and a closed ship cargo tank. Therefore, researchers have been developing devices that will enable mobile robots to operate on vertical walls. The wall-climbing robots have been widely used to attach on the wall such as suction types. These types can be utilized regardless of the wall material. However, it is required to adhere and control the suction cups. To moderate this drawbacks, this paper proposes an automatic painting robot that uses a permanent magnet mobile robot. Using the magnetic characteristics, this robot can move on the boat vertically and horizontally even while hanging on the ceiling of the ship cargo tank. Also, we made a prototype to test adhesive force of the permanent magnet wheel and mobile robot as well as the towing capacity and auto-piloting ability.

  • Although double-stage hanger is used in many homes for its space utilization and ease of installation, it is inconvenient for users to take off clothes hung on the upper bar due to its high height. Therefore, this paper proposes a new type of double-stage hanger that allows users to easily hang or take out clothes hung on the upper bar while maintaining the function of the existing double-stage hanger. 4-bar link mechanism is applied so that the upper bar can come down to a convenient height with one operation. In addition, an appropriate link shape, length, and joint type are selected so that the height is adjusted three-dimensionally to prevent overlapping of clothes hanging on upper/lower bars. FEA analysis is performed to ensure that the presented hanger shape can support the load of clothes during height adjustment and the feasibility of the three-dimensional height adjustment hanger is verified through fabrication.

  • In the studies on fault dislocation of tunnel, existing literatures are mainly focused on the problems caused by normal and reverse faults, but few on strike-slip faults. The paper aims to research the deformation and failure mechanism of a tunnel under strike-slip faulting based on a model test and test-calibrated numerical simulation. A potential faulting hazard condition is considered for a real water tunnel in central Yunnan, China. Based on the faulting hazard to tunnel, laboratory model tests were conducted with a test apparatus that specially designed for strike-slip faults. Then, to verify the results obtained from the model test, a finite element model was built. By comparison, the numerical results agree with tested ones well. The results indicated that most of the shear deformation and damage would appear within fault fracture zone. The tunnel exhibited a horizontal S-shaped deformation profile under strike-slip faulting. The side walls of the tunnel mainly experience tension and compression strain state, while the roof and floor of the tunnel would be in a shear state. Circular cracks on tunnel near fault fracture zone were more significant owing to shear effects of strike-slip faulting, while the longitudinal cracks occurred at the hanging wall.

  • Although there is an increasing demand for capturing various natural motions, collecting climbing motion data is difficult due to technical complexities, related to obscured markers. Additionally, scanning climbing structures and preparing diverse routes further complicate the collection of necessary data. To tackle this challenge, this paper proposes a climbing motion synthesis using reinforcement learning. The method comprises two learning stages. Firstly, the hanging policy is trained to grasp holds in a natural posture. Once the policy is obtained, it is used to extract the positions of the holds, postures, and gripping states, thus forming a dataset of favorable initial poses. Subsequently, the climbing policy is trained to execute actual climbing maneuvers using this initial state dataset. The climbing policy allows the character to move to the target location using limbs more evenly in a natural posture. Experiments have shown that the proposed method can effectively explore the space of good postures for climbing and use limbs more evenly. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in exploring optimal climbing postures and promoting balanced limb utilization.

  • On November 15, 2017, a Mw 5.4 Pohang Earthquake occurred at about 4 km hypocenter in the Heunghae area, and caused great damage to Pohang city, Korea. In the Heunghae area, which is the central part of the Pohang Basin, the Cretaceous Gyeongsang Supergroup and the Late Cretaceous to Early Paleogene Bulguksa igneous rocks as basement rocks and the Neogene Yeonil Group as the fillings of the Pohang Basin, are distributed. In this paper, structural and geological researches on the crustal deformations (folds, faults, joints) in the Pohang Basin and the coseismic ground deformations (sand volcanoes, ground cracks, pup-up structures) of Pohang Earthquake were carried out, and the deformation history of the Pohang Basin and characteristics of the coseismic ground deformations were considered. The crustal deformations were formed through at least five deformation stages before the Quaternary faulting: forming stages of the normal-slip (Gokgang fault) faults which strike (N)NE and dip at high angles, and the high-angle joints of E-W trend regionally recognized in Yeonil Group and the faults (sub)parallel to them, and the conjugate normal-slip faults (Heunghae fault and Hyeongsan fault) which strike E-W and dip at middle or low angles and the accompanying E-W folds, and the conjugate strike-slip faults dipped at high angles in which the (N)NW and E-W (NE) striking fault sets show the (reverse) sinistral and dextral strike-slips, respectively, and the conjugate reverse-slip faults in which the NNE and NNW striking fault sets dip at middle angles and the accompanying N-S folds. Sand volcanoes often exhibit linear arrangements (sub)parallel to ground cracks in the coseismic ground deformations. The N-S or (N)NE trending pop-up structures and ground cracks and E-W or (W)NW trending ground were formed by the reverse-slip movement of the earthquake source fault and the accompanying buckling folding of its hanging wall due to the maximum horizontal stress of the Pohang Earthquake source. These structural activities occurred extensively in the Heunghae area, which is at the hanging wall of the earthquake source fault, and caused enormous property damages here.
