  • Arc sensor gives important groove information during welding. Automatic seam tracking control system with arc sensor has significant characteristics such that bead formation is given as decentralization of penetration and formation of concave bead profile and that a turning point of transverse weaving with constant arc length control is decided whether or not torch height reaches to a specified setting level. Furthermore, the rotating action of the arc prevents hanging of weld bead and forms flat bead surface under high speed welding condition. The variation of groove and deposition area can be detected from the trace of weaving. The area and width of weaving trace has close correlation with the area of groove and deposition.   • In this paper, a simple test rig of high-speed crash for the front members of vehicles was developed for the improvement of crashworthiness of vehicle's side rail. The cart hanging the specimen is accelerated up to 35 mph by the traction wire and by the force of freely dropping weight and 1:3 accelerating pulleys. The cart with shock absorbers travels on the rail roads, so it does not transfer any additional vibration to the specimen. In order to measure the energy absorbed by the specimen when it collapse to the wall and during it deform, the two strain gage type load cells are used at the wall place. The test rig rated good to test the specimen like a side rail of vehicle as developing the vehicle's structures in the early design stage.

  • The authors have proposed a linear motor driven container crane system, in which the linear motor to drive trolley chassis is also used to control swaying motion of a hanging container. To utilize the proposed system, it is needed to develop a power saving control system for the linear drive system. In this paper, an integrated control system to minimize required electric power to drive a trolley chassis with the suppressed swaying motion of a hanged container, is proposed. The validity of the proposed control system is investigated by the simulation using Simulink.

  • The structure systems with non-rigid member were classified by the composition type of line and surface members. As a result of the classification, there are 1-way cable structure, cable net and radial cable net structure in the line member system. And there are pneumatic structure and suspension membrane structure in surface member system. In addition, when the line and surface members are composed together, there is the hybrid membrane system which are divided into hanging type and supported type. In this paper, the Korean terms of structure systems with non-rigid member are recommended through this classification. In each the structure systems with non-rigid member, the examples were also investigated considering their historical developments. It present that the light weight structure system and the openness of space have pursued with the developments. So largely, cable net structure with membrane, membrane structure and hybrid structure have used in these days.

  • During the operation of crane system in container yard, it is necessary to control the crane trolley position so that the swing of the hanging container is minimized. Recently an automatic control system with high speed and rapid transportation is required. Therefore, we designed a controller to control the crane system with disturbances. In this paper, Ive present the neural network two degree of freedom PID controller to control the swing motion and trolley position. Then we executed the computer simulation to verify the performance of the proposed controller and compared the performance of the neural network PID controller with our proposed controller in terms of the rope swing and the precision of position control . Computer simulation results show that the proposed controller has better performances than neural network PID with disturbances.

EVALUATION OF COMFORT OR PAIN BY VIRTUAL HUMAN IN USING OF SOME PRODUCT

  • A virtual human which can evaluate Kansei such as comfort, pain, etc. when the virtual human uses some product is developed. In this paper, method of the evaluation of Kansei by the virtual human is presented. The body of our virtual human is modeled as an uniform non-linear elastic one with a skeleton. The deformation of the body on the contact with some product is simulated using a FEM analysis, and by using of the simulated results (load distribution, strain, etc.) on the contact surface the Kansei is predicted. As examples of the application, comfort of buttocks on seating and pain of arm on hanging of bag are shown. This virtual human can apply for the design of virtual products and also the simulation of medical care.

  • This paper presents an Intelligent Balance Beam Controller(IBBC) which can estimate the inertia of load automatically. Balance Beam controller is a kind of construction tool which can control the attitude of the load hanging in the air such as a beam carried by crane. In our previous work, Balance Beam had been built to control the object in air using a mechanical gyro system having a position controllable gimbal structure. In field application the load inertia for operation is not easy to figure out because the weight and shape which determines the inertia, varies depending on the object to be carried. Therefore it is difficult for a worker to operate a Balance Beam and an accident could be caused occasionally. We designed an automatic load estimator to measure the inertia of arbitrary load by using an angular velocity sensor that is installed on the Balance Beam. Simulation results and current status for implementation are presented.

  • Due to recent technology advances, needs for flat panel displays, plasma display panels(PDPs) whose advantages are simple structure, high resolution, wide viewing angle is increasingly expected to be the first flat panel of large screen, walt hanging TVs. But the luminance and luminous efficiency of color PDP is net up to the level of a CRT. So, New electrode shape which is different from the conventional electrode has to propose to improve the luminance and luminous efficiency. In this paper, we suggested new shaped electrodes. In new shaped electrode, the discharge current was reduced compared with conventional type by reducing the unnecessary diffusion loss near the barrier rib. However, the luminance was nearly the same as conventional type. So, the luminous efficiency improved about 35%.

Variable-node axisymmetric solid element and its application to adaptive mesh refinement

  • This paper presents an effective application of a variable-node axisymmetric solid element designated as AQV (Axisymmetric Quadrilateral Variable-node element). The variable-node element with physical midside nodes helps to overcome some problems in connecting the different layer patterns on a quadrilateral mesh in the adaptive h-refinement. This element alleviates the necessity of imposing displacement constraints on irregular (hanging) nodes in order to enforce the inter-element compatibility. Therefore, the elements with variable mid-side nodes can be used effectively in the local mesh refinement for the axisymmetric structures which have stress concentrations. A modified Gaussian quadrature should be adopted to evaluate the stiffness matrices of the variable-node elements mainly because of the slope discontinuity of assumed displacement within the elements. Some numerical examples show the usefulness of variable-node axisymmetric elements in the practical application.

중력 법칙을 이용한 전자나침반의 경사오차 및 비 수평오차 보정 (Inclination and Non-horizontal Error Correction of Magnetic Compass by the Law of Gravity)

  • This paper proposes a correction method concerning the inclination error and non-horizontal error of magnetic compass when magnetic compass is vibrated. This system used the 2-axis variable resistance and pendulum. A pendulum hanging from the 2-axis variable resistance of this system is always maintain the horizontal because of gravity. but these data had some intrinsic error. So we used the low pass filter to solve this problem. So this system can get the accurate azimuth of magnetic compass. In conclusion, These results demonstrate convincingly by applied algorithm of experiment.
