The objectives of this paper are to develop an advanced GAX cycle named HGAX (Hybrid Generator Absorber heat exchanger) cycle, and to study the effect of key parameters on the cycle performance and the hot-water temperature from the condenser. New types of the HGAX cycle are developed by adding a compressor between the generator and the condenser- Type C (performance improvement and reduction of the generator temperature) and Type D (Hot-water temperature application). The solution temperature in the generator outlet is reduced to 168$^{\circ}C$ with the COP improvement of 19% compared to the standard GAX cycle. The hot-water temperature from the condenser is raised to 106$^{\circ}C$ for panel heating (Ondol heating) application.

This study discusses spalling and fire enduring performance of high performance concrete (HPC) RC column subjected to loading under heating for 3 hours. According to the test, both the plain concrete and the concrete attached with fire enduring PC panel exceed allowable temperature after 60 minutes due to the exposure of steel bar and falling off of concrete resulting from severe spalling failure. It leads to buckling of main bar and at the same time, occurrence of collapse of plain HPC column member is observed after 2 hours and 1 hour 40 minutes's exposure to fire, respectively. On the other hand, HPC applying both PP fiber of 0.1$\%$ by mass of concrete and PP fiber+lateral confinement by metal lath maintains their original cross section, which is satisfied with the 3 hours fire endurance criteria, by discharging internal vapour pressure and enhanced lateral confinement force.
We analyzed the effect of cell resolution on the luminous efficacy through three-dimensional numerical simulation to understand the inherent discharge mechanism change in the plasma display panel. As the resolution increases from VGA to Full HD, the luminous efficacy decreases. With higher Xe content, VUV generation efficacy of Full HD becomes much lower than those of VGA or XGA cells, due to the increased plasma loss and lower electron heating. However a long electrode gap $140{\mu}m$ in Full HD cell with Ne-Xe [20%] results in the high luminous efficacy comparable to that of the XGA cell with $60{\mu}m$ gap. When comparing the effects of Xe content variation on the luminous efficacy of two different subpixel types, i. e., SDE (Segmented electrode in Delta color arrayed, Enclosed subpixel) [1] and conventional stripe barrier type in the XGA and Full HD cells, the luminous efficacy of SDE structure shows higher improvement in Full HD resolution compared with that of conventional type XGA cell, whose cause is identified as the reduced plasma loss.

To realize a zero-energy building, a technology that minimizes the energy loss due to thermal bridges by preventing their formation is emerging as an important design factor. In this study, we develop a thermal bridge breaker to prevent thermal bridging in a metal panel roof and attempt to analyze the effects of its application. To this end, we fabricated a thermal bridge breaker and analyzed it in terms of its strength and heat-transfer characteristics, in addition to conducting a load simulation. The thermal bridge prevention effect of the developed thermal bridge breaker improved the insulation performance of the metal panel roof, and the results of a cooling/heating peak load simulation performed by applying the heat transmission resistance test results to a building proved the existence of this effect.

To develop the solar air heater, prototype of solar heater with test room set up on the roof of test chamber and operation characteristics were examined with solar radiation. Air induced from outside was supplied by a blower and also heated air was supplied to the test chamber(size of 1,000mm(inwidth)*2,000mm(in length)*2,000mm(in depth)) established already for performance. It was clear that almost 30% of solar radiation was converted into effective heating energy at maximum and the highest air temperature was $46^{\circ}C$, and thus solar air heater in winter could be used as an possible alternative heating system in building. Furthermore, heat energy obtained from solar air heater can be applied to regenerate absorber in the solar desiccant cooling system.

High-speed vehicles are subjected to complex loads, such as acoustic pressure from the engine at launch and aerodynamic heating and aerodynamic pressure during flight. A thermal protection system panel is required to protect internal systems such as the fuel tank of the vehicle from the external environment. This study defines analytical models for heat transfer and thermal structure characteristics of the thermal protection system panel. Furthermore, the study performed parameters analysis to achieve the thermal structural integrity and to make it lighter.

A study was conducted to significantly increase the heat transfer area by simultaneously burying the excel pipe in the floor and wall of a container house, thereby greatly reducing the initial heating time. In addition, a small hot water boiler suitable for the heating load of a small container house with a maximum area of 6 m2 was studied. A wall-mounted hot water boiler was developed as a result of the study. When a hot water boiler is installed outdoors for heating, heat radiation energy is lost in winter from the hot water boiler and hot water pipe due to the low temperature. We propose an approach through which the energy loss was greatly reduced and the temperature of hot water increased in proportion to the operating time. Moreover, as the mass flow rate of the hot water flowing inside the excel pipe increased, the temperature of the hot water decreased. The temperature of the wall and floor surfaces of the container house increased in proportion to the increase in the mass flow rate of hot water flowing inside the excel tube. Natural convection heat transfer was realized from the wall and floor surfaces of the container house, and the heat transfer area was increased by a factor of 3 with respect to heat transfer area limited to the floor by the existing hot water panel. As a result, the initial temperature increase rate was much higher because of the larger heat transfer area.

Cast-in-place foamed concrete is a high porous material placed as base the layer of mortar screeds in the panel heating system, so the quality of mortar is affected by it. Therefore, this study is aims to investigate how the absorption characteristics of foamed concrete influences on mortar screeds according to the foamed ratio-62%, 67% and 72%- and the surface treatments of foamed concrete-water and acrylic emulsion primer spray, etc. The result of this study shows that water-spray in the surface of foamed concrete has a good effects to reduce mortar cracking.
Over 5lm/W white luminous efficacy was obtained by 11" color test panel with narrowed discharge electrodes combined with high Xe partial pressure. By using optical spectroscopic methods, it was suggested that the electron heating efficiency is the most significant to improve the plasma efficiency in our experimental conditions.

It is important to design windows in a reasonable way considering the performance characteristics of the elements of the window rather than just to increase the thermal energy performance of the window. In this study, the Heat-transfer Coefficient as insulation performance of the windows and together with the grade of the glass's SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) were analyzed to relate to the energy efficiency performance of the building by azimuth angle. Based on this basic study, the Heat-transfer Coefficient of windows and the SHGC rating of glass were applied to the unit plan of apartment building, and the Heating and Cooling Demand were analyzed by azimuth angle. Apartment plan types were divided into 2 types of Non-extension and extension of balcony. The designPH analysis data derived from the variant of the Heat-transfer Coefficient and SHGC, were put into PHPP(Passive House Planning Package) to analyze precisely the energy efficiency(Heating and Cooling Demands) of the building by azimuth angle. In addition, assuming the 'ㅁ' shape layout, energy efficiency performance and potential of PV Panel installation also were analyzed by floors and azimuth angle, reflecting the shading effects by surrounding buildings. As the results of the study, the effect of Heat Gain by SHGC was greater than Heat Loss due to the Heat-transfer Coefficient. So it is more effective to increase SHGC to satisfy the same Heating Demand, and increasing SHGC made possible to design windows with low Heat-transfer Coefficient. It was also revealed that the difference in annual Heating and Cooling Demands between the low, mid and high floor households is significantly high. In addition to it, the installation of PV Panel in the form of a shading canopy over the window reduces the Cooling Load while at the same time producing electricity, and also confirmed that absolute thermal energy efficiency could not be maximized without controlling the thermal bridge and ventilation problems as important heat loss factors.
