  • The corrugated panels are the prime candidate structure for the floor, roof and wall of Korean high speed train. The equivalent continuum modeling approach panels can be used for the efficient design and evaluation of their structural characteristics. The equivalent continuum models, derived from the true complex corrugated panels, should have the same structural behavior as the original structures have. This paper briefly reviews three representative continuum modeling methods: the static analysis method and two plate-models based on modal analysis methods (MAM). These methods are evaluated through some numerical examples by comparing the natural frequencies and static deflections. It is observed that the plate-model based on Rayleigh-Ritz method seems to provide the best results when used in conjunction with the cantilever-type boundary conditions. The equivalent elastic constants of various corrugated panels, depending on the changes in their configurations, are tabulated for efficient use in structural design.

  • This study aims at shedding light on two questions: 1) how livelihood strategies hired by heterogeneous farm households differ and in what aspect, and 2) would the strategy change over time or remain identical across farm types? Using 2013-2017 Farm Economy Survey panel data, we divide the sample farms into 4 sub-groups based on income level and sources. Key findings are as follows. First, regardless of farm types, strong path dependency has been observed. That is, lots of farms are likely (enforced) to maintain the livelihood strategies, accounting for why many farms fail to response to market and/or policy signals. Second, along with compounding risks, farms are more vulnerable to specific sorts risks. Third, based on the findings, we made policy suggestions.

  • This study examined risk factors and protective factors in high school students’ suicidal ideation. Participants were 2000 adolescents from the KEEP(Korean Education and Employment Panel). Data mining decision tree model revealed that: (1) Irrespective of sex, the most important predictor was father-adolescent relationship. (2) Positive mother-adolescent relationship was predicted as protective factor in condition of negative father-adolescent relationship. (3) Family activities was predicted as risk factor in condition of negative mother-adolescent relationship under the circumstances with negative father-adolescent relationship. (4) Low self-evaluation was predicted as risk factor in condition of serious agony about personality under the circumstances with positive father-adolescent relationship.

  • The fatigue crack propagation properties and fatigue life of two kinds of Al body panel for automobile were examined experimentally by using the plate specimen and the single spot welding specimen. The fatigue limit of spot welding specimens was lower than that of a plate specimen. The fatigue limit was similar in two kinds of spot welding specimen. The shape and size of crack propagation were observed and measured on beach mark of fracture surface. The crack propagation of surface crack specimen showed almost same tendency to that of a thick plate as almost semi-elliptical. In spot welding specimen, the fatigue crack occurred in inside surface of nugget area was almost semi-elliptical. The crack growth rate can be explained using equation of stress intensity factors.

  • This paper evaluated the 12 sensory measures suitable for evaluating taste of kimchi stored for 64 maturing days in the three kimchi refrigerators each made by the three different electronics companies respectively. The panel composed of 6 married women and 6 married man tasted sample of kimchi 8 times during the 64 maturing days. Analysis of variance results showed that among the 12 sensory measures sour smell, fresh smell, fermenting smell, sour taste, fresh taste, sensory satisfaction, and maturing degree were sensitive to differentiate both maturing days and refrigerators. Among sensory measures, maturing degree showed the most consistently increasing pattern during maturing days and the most consistently differentiating pattern for the refrigerators.

  • Four urea-formaldehyde (UF) resins were synthesized as a particleboard (PB) binder with the four different initial formaldehyde/urea mole ratio and the final mole ratio of 1.15. The UF resins were characterized according to the standard method of resin adhesive analysis. PBs were manufactured using liquid UF resins at 5 minutes press time and 6% resin solids levels on an ovendry particle weight basis. A total of 20 PBs was fabricated for 5 panel replication per UF resin types. The panels were tested for physical strength properties per the procedure ASTM D 1037. The formaldehyde emission levels from the PBs bonded with the UF resins were tested according to 2-hour desiccator test method ASTM D 5582. There were no significant differences among UF resin types for internal bond strength of PBs. But there were significant differences among UF resin types for formaldehyde emission level of PBs. The results showed that the formaldehyde emission level was influenced by the UF resin types without reducing the adhesive performance.

  • A panel of chalcone-sulphonamide hybrids has been designed by tethering appropriate sulphonamide scaffold with substituted chalcones as a multi-target drug for anticancer screening. Chalcones were prepared by Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction of a substituted aldehyde with para aminoacetophenone. All the synthesized compounds were evaluated against selected five cancer cell lines, MCF-7 (Breast cancer), DU-145 (Human prostate Carcinoma), HCT-15 (Colon cancer), NCIH-522 (stage 2, adenocarcinoma; non-small cell lung cancer) and HT-3 (Human cervical cancer). Most of the synthesized chalcone-sulphonamide hybrids showed amended cytotoxic activity against various cancer cell lines which may be attributed to the linkage of sulphonamide with chalcone skeleton. The synthesized compounds were characterized by FT-IR, $^1H$ NMR, $^{13}C$ NMR and HR-LCMS and spectral study assert the structures of synthesized sulphonamide-chalcone hybrids.

  • Various sensory technologies have been used at different stages of product development. In this paper, the examples of sensory studies in teas and cosmetics were shown, and these could help to increase the contribution of sensory sciences to the development of products in the industry. In classical approach, descriptive analysis with trained panel and consumer acceptability test are very important to identify the sensorycharacteristicsthatdriveconsumeracceptability of products. Recently, some quick and easy sensory evaluation methods were introduced such as CATA (check-all-that-apply), sorting, and $Napping^{(R)}$, etc. to gather information about consumers' perception of the sensory characteristics of products. Although there are many sensory methodologies available in the product development phase, the most important thing is that these have to be correctly selected and designed for target consumers, products, and research purposes in order to develop a successful product.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a case-based nursing education program using generative artificial intelligence and to assess its usability and applicability in nursing curriculums. Methods: The program was developed by following the five steps of the ADDIE model: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. A panel of five nursing professors served as experts to implement and evaluate the program. Results: Utilizing ChatGPT, six program modules were designed and developed based on experiential learning theory. The experts' evaluations confirmed that the program was suitable for case-based learning, highly usable, and applicable to nursing education. Conclusion: Generative artificial intelligence was identified as a valuable tool for enhancing the effectiveness of case-based learning. This study provides insights and future directions for integrating generative artificial intelligence into nursing education. Further research should be attempted to implement and evaluate this program with nursing students.
