A Study on Automation about Painting the Letters to Road Surface

  • In this study, the researchers attempted to automate the process of painting the characters on the road surface, which is currently done by manual labor, by using the information and communication technology. Here are the descriptions of how we put in our efforts to achieve such a goal. First, we familiarized ourselves with the current regulations about painting letters or characters on the road, with reference to Road Mark Installation Management Manual of the National Police Agency. Regarding the graphemes, we adopted a new one using connection components, in Gothic print characters which was within the range of acceptance according to the aforementioned manual. We also made it possible for the automated program to recognize the graphemes by means of the feature dots of the isolated dots, end dots, 2-line gathering dots, and gathering dots of 3 lines or more. Regarding the database, we built graphemes database for plotting information, classified the characters by means of the arrangement information of the graphemes and the layers that the graphemes form within the characters, and last but not least, made the character shape information database for character plotting by using such data. We measured the layers and the arrangement information of the graphemes consisting the characters by using the information of: 1) the information of the position of the center of gravity, and 2) the information of the graphemes that was acquired through vertical exploration from the center of gravity in each grapheme. We identified and compared the group to which each character of the database belonged, and recognized the characters through the use of the information gathered using this method. We analyzed the input characters using the aforementioned analysis method and database, and then converted into plotting information. It was shown that the plotting was performed after the correction.

A Study on Improvement of Surface Qualify in Injection Molded Parts (사출금형제품의 표면향상에 관한 연구)

  • Injection molded plastic parts have many surface defects. These include a weld line, sink mark, flow mark, gloss, shading, scratching etc. Because these surface faults are not aesthetically acceptable, plastic parts are produced through painting or texturing. The purpose of this paper is to develop paintless molded parts using a flow control method. Computer aided injection mold filling simulations were used in order to minimize the number of defects from injection molding. Based on the numerical results, FR(Flame Retardant) HIPS was developed and the guidelines for part design, mold design, and the processing conditions were established. The effects of cost savings, improvements in productivity, and recycling were considered by reducing the number of surface faults and eliminating the painting process.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a paintless molded part of TV Mask Front, using numerical simulations and experiments. In order to minimize problems of injection, this study carried out computer aided injection mold filling simulations using MF/FLOW. Based on these numerical results we developed FR(Flame Retardant) HIPS and estabilished guidelines of part design, mold design, and processing conditions. We took effects of cost savings, inprovement of productivity, and utilization of recycling by eliminated painting process.

  • We examined the causes of the damage of a Joseon Buddhist painting, "Ten Kings of the Hell", for which we had performed conservation treatment while preparing for the special exhibition entitled "A Journey into the Joseon Buddhist Paintings", presented by the National Museum of Korea. For the parts that could not be easily observed by naked eyes, we examined it with microscopes, X-rays and infrared rays. Hereby we introduced the result of the scientific examination performed prior to the conservation treatment, and arranged its process for the "Ten Kings of the Hell".

  • In this paper, the authors consider a robot motion control to cope with painting, welding jobs and etc. Especially, a method for easy recognition and regeneration of the robot motions made by the operator is proposed. The method is based on the process of accurate modelling, controller design and experimental evaluation. In this study, the model and controller for all motions are obtained individually, where the control system is designed on the robust control framework. And the experiment result with good control performance is presented.

  • Stone cave paintings are continuous interactions as independent mediums in places such as text, images and stone cave architecture. Unlike Buddha statues, the narrative of the text always fascinates and guides the viewer to the timeliness of the image, that is, the narrative. In particular, in Buddhist art, Buddha statues are never simple images, and murals are never simple paintings. Before the Tang Dynasty, most unknown artists were artisans, and many artists still worked on murals in temples and palaces, and independent paintings such as scrolls and sides became an important form of painting after the Tang Dynasty, changing the mechanism of painting creation. In this paper, the graphic creation process prioritizes dedication and service, but we can still feel the creativity of the painters strongly. The historical resources of how to paint these paintings, the clues to the copies, and the precursor to the foreground, encourage the painters to constantly try to resemble each other and discover problems...Therefore, in this paper, it was confirmed that reinvention and creativity are very important, and that Dunhuang Buddhist art is the basis for artists' creation and the source of vitality.

  • An activated carbon-photo catalysis hybrid system is proposed for the treatment of VOC produced from paint booth. and its VOC removal performance is experimentally evaluated. Activated carbon tower is designed on the basis of the adsorption characteristics of toluene. Photocatalytic system is designed as the series of $TiO_2/SiO\_2$ fluidized bed reactor and $TiO_2$-coated filters. The present activated carbon-photo catalysis hybrid system shows the VOC removal efficiency within $75\~100\%$ under different VOC species and concentrations.
