Background: To evaluate the clinical outcomes and associated repair integrity in patients treated with arthroscopic repair for a transtendinous rotator cuff tear followed by resection of the remnant rotator cuff tendon. Methods: Between July 2007 and July 2011, we retrospectively reviewed patients who were treated for transtendinous full-thickness tears in the tendinous portion of the rotator cuff by arthroscopic repair. Clinical outcomes were evaluated using the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, the Shoulder Rating Scale of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), the Constant-Murley score, a visual analogue scale (VAS) pain score, and range of motion (ROM). The repair integrity was determined by magnetic resonance imaging or ultrasonography. Results: There were 19 shoulders with transtendinous full-thickness tears in the tendinous portion of the rotator cuff. The ASES, UCLA, Constant-Murley, and VAS pain scores showed significant improvements in function and symptoms (all p<0.001). The active ROM for forward flexion and abduction was also significantly improved (p=0.002 and p<0.001, respectively). The postoperative radiological examination showed cuff integrity without a re-tear in 68.4% of patients. However, the UCLA, ASES, and Constant-Murley scores were not significantly different between healed and re-torn group (p=0.530, p=0.885, and p=0.262, respectively). Conclusions: Although repair of transtendinous rotator cuff tears followed by resection of the remnant rotator cuff tendon in the footprint has a relatively high re-tear rate, no significant difference was observed in the short-term clinical results between the re-tear and healed groups.
Mach-Zehnder interferometric wavelength converters with monolithically integrated semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA's) have been fabricated and characteristics of wavelength conversion at 10 Gb/s have been investigated for wavelength span of 40 nm. The devices have been achieved by using a butt-joint combination of buried ridge structure type SOA's and passive waveguides. In the integration, a new method has been applied that removes p+InP cladding layer leading to high propagation loss and forms simultaneously the current blocking and the cladding layer using undoped InP. The module packaging has been achieved by using a titled fiber array for effective coupling into the tilted waveguide in the wavelength converter. Using the module, wavelength conversion with power penalty lower than 1 ㏈ at 10 Gb/s has been demonstrated for wavelength span of 40 nm. In addition, it is show that the module can provide 2R (re-amplification, re-shaping) operation by demonstrating the conversion with the negative penalty.

The purpose of this study was to examine the radiolabeling and biodistribution of $^{188}Re(V)$-DMSA as a therapeutic cancer radiopharmaceutical. We made a DMSA kit($NaHCO_3$ 1.5 mg, meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid 1.0 mg, L(+)-ascorbic acid 0.7 mg, $SnCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O$ 0.34 mg, pH 2.9) for labeling with $^{188}Re$. In this kit, $^{188}ReO_4{^-}$ 5 mCi/2 ml added and boiled at $100^{\circ}C$ for 3 hr in water bath. The final pH adjusted to 7.5 with 7% $NaHCO_3$ solution. We checked the labelling efficacy with TLC-SG(n-butanol : acetic acid : $H_2O$ = 3 : 2 : 3) and examined the stability both in room temperature and in serum at $37^{\circ}C$. Biodistribution(1, 3, 13, 24, 48 hr) of $^{188}Re(V)$-DMSA compound was evaluated in Sarcoma 180 tumor-bearing mice. Each labeling efficiency and stability at room temperature for 48 hours was over 98% and 95%, respectively. The stability in serum were 82%(6 hr) and 85%(48 hr). Tumor uptake of $^{188}Re(V)$-DMSA in Sarcoma 180-bearing mice were $0.66{\pm}0.15%$(1 hr), $0.51{\pm}0.10%$(3 hr), $0.19{\pm}0.05%$(24 hr) and $0.13{\pm}0.02%$(48 hr). These result are consistent with those of $^{99m}Tc(V)$-DMSA which were reported previously. In conclusion, $^{188}Re(V)$-DMSA may be a useful therapeutic radiopharmaceutical for treating some cancers and metastatic bone lesion.
We propose semi-analytic models for the electron momentum distribution in weak shocks that accounts for both in situ acceleration and re-acceleration through diffusive shock acceleration (DSA). In the former case, a small fraction of incoming electrons is assumed to be reflected at the shock ramp and pre-accelerated to the so-called injection momentum, pinj, above which particles can diffuse across the shock transition and participate in the DSA process. This leads to the DSA power-law distribution extending from the smallest momentum of reflected electrons, pref, all the way to the cutoff momentum, peq, constrained by radiative cooling. In the latter case, fossil electrons, specified by a power-law spectrum with a cutoff, are assumed to be re-accelerated from pref up to peq via DSA. We show that, in the in situ acceleration model, the amplitude of radio synchrotron emission depends strongly on the shock Mach number, whereas it varies rather weakly in the re-acceleration model. Considering the rather turbulent nature of shocks in the intracluster medium, such extreme dependence for the in situ acceleration might not be compatible with the relatively smooth surface brightness of observed radio relics.

The paramagnetic complex of $(CO)_4ReL_2[L_2=$ 2,3-Bis(diphenylphosphino)maleic anhydride] was prepared both by the photochemically induced homolytic splitting of $Re_2(CO)_10withL_2and$ by the chemical reduction of $[(CO)_4ReL_2]SO_3CF_3.$ The $(CO)_4ReL_2$ compound was characterized by ESR spectrum. The spectrum exhibits three group of sextets arising from one $^{185.187}Re$ nucleus (Ⅰ= 5/2) and two equivalent $^31P$ nuclei (Ⅰ= 1/2). Infrared, ESR, and cyclic voltammetric data are reported for all of the complexes prepared in this study.
The measurement of gamma-ray spectrum of $^{nat}W(p,xn)$ reaction with natural tungsten were performed by using a high energy proton generated from a 100-MeV proton linear accelerator of the Korea Multi-purpose Accelerator Complex (KOMAC). Gamma rays generated by various nuclides generated through the nuclide were measured using a gamma-ray spectroscopy system composed of HPGe detector. A gamma-ray standard source was used for energy calibration and efficiency measurement of the detector. Analysis of the gamma rays observed in the measured spectra showed that the radionuclides produced were $^{167}Re$, $^{178}Re$, $^{179}Re$, $^{180}Re$, $^{181}Re$, $^{182}Re$, $^{184}Re$, $^{172}Ta$, $^{174}Ta$, $^{178}Ta$, $^{182}Ta$, $^{184}Ta$, $^{175}W$, $^{176}W$, $^{177}W$ and $^{179}W$. Nuclides were generated. The results of this study will be applied to nuclear fusion, astrophysics, and nuclear medicine applications in the future.

Reactions of mer, trans-$Re({\equiv}NC_6H_5)(PPh_3)_2Cl_3$, I, with $PMe_3$ and $P(OMe)_34 at room temperature, led to mer, trans-$Re({\equiv}NC_6H_5)(PPh_3)(PMe_3)Cl_3$, II, and fac-$Re({\equiv}NC_6H_5)(PPh_3)(P(OMe)_3)Cl_34, III, respectively. The crystal structures of II and III were determined through X-ray diffraction. Ⅱ crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group $Pna2_1$ with cell parameters a=19.379(4) ${\AA}$, b=11.867(2) ${\AA}$, c = 12.676(3) ${\AA}$, and Z = 4. Least-squares refinement of the structure led to a $R(wR_2)$ factor of 0.0251 (0.0621) for 2203 unique reflections of $I>2{\sigma}(I)$ and for 306 variables. III crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group $P2_1/n$ with cell parameters a=11.399(3) ${\AA}$, b=14.718(4) ${\AA}$, c=17.558(5) ${\AA}$, ${\beta}=97.79(2){\circ}$, and Z=4. Least-squares refinement of the structure led to a $R(wR_2)$ factor of 0.0571 (0.1384) for 3739 unique reflections of $I>2{\sigma}(I)$ and for 344 variables. Structural studies showed that the relative orientations of the two phosphines in both complexes are different, probably due to the differences in the coordinating abilities between $PMe_3$ and $P(OMe)_3$ to the 5-coordinate fluxional intermediate.
PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of abutment diameter, cement type, and re-cementation on the retention of implant-supported CAD/CAM metal copings over short abutments. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Sixty abutments with two different diameters, the height of which was reduced to 3 mm, were vertically mounted in acrylic resin blocks with matching implant analogues. The specimens were divided into 2 diameter groups: 4.5 mm and 5.5 mm (n=30). For each abutment a CAD/CAM metal coping was manufactured, with an occlusal loop. Each group was sub-divided into 3 sub-groups (n=10). In each subgroup, a different cement type was used: resin-modified glass-ionomer, resin cement and zinc-oxide-eugenol. After incubation and thermocycling, the removal force was measured using a universal testing machine at a cross-head speed of 0.5 mm/min. In zinc-oxide-eugenol group, after removal of the coping, the cement remnants were completely cleaned and the copings were re-cemented with resin cement and re-tested. Two-way ANOVA, post hoc Tukey tests, and paired t-test were used to analyze data (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The highest pulling force was registered in the resin cement group (414.8 N), followed by the re-cementation group (380.5 N). Increasing the diameter improved the retention significantly (P=.006). The difference in retention between the cemented and recemented copings was not statistically significant (P=.40). CONCLUSION. Resin cement provided retention almost twice as strong as that of the RMGI. Increasing the abutment diameter improved retention significantly. Re-cementation with resin cement did not exhibit any difference from the initial cementation with resin cement.
Objectives: The purpose was to investigate the preference and usage technique of NiTi rotary instruments and to retrieve data on the frequency of re-use and the estimated incidence of file separation in the clinical practice among general dentists. Materials and Methods: A survey was disseminated via e-mail and on-site to 673 general dentists. The correlation between the operator's experience or preferred technique and frequency of re-use or incidence of file fracture was assessed. Results: A total of 348 dentists (51.7%) responded. The most frequently used NiTi instruments was ProFile (39.8%) followed by ProTaper. The most preferred preparation technique was crown-down (44.6%). 54.3% of the respondents re-used NiTi files more than 10 times. There was a significant correlation between experience with NiTi files and the number of re-uses (p = 0.0025). 54.6% of the respondents estimated experiencing file separation less than 5 times per year. The frequency of separation was significantly correlated with the instrumentation technique (p = 0.0003). Conclusions: A large number of general dentists in Korea prefer to re-use NiTi rotary files. As their experience with NiTi files increased, the number of re-uses increased, while the frequency of breakage decreased. Operators who adopt the hybrid technique showed less tendency of separation even with the increased number of re-use.
Let A(p) be the class of functions $f\;:\;z^p\;+\;\sum\limits_{j=1}^{\infty}a_jz^{p+j}$ analytic in the open unit disc E. Let, for any integer n > -p, $f_{n+p-1}(z)\;=\;z^p+\sum\limits_{j=1}^{\infty}(p+j)^{n+p-1}z^{p+j}$. We define $f_{n+p-1}^{(-1)}(z)$ by using convolution * as $f_{n+p-1}\;*\;f_{n+p-1}^{-1}=\frac{z^p}{(1-z)^{n+p}$. A function p, analytic in E with p(0) = 1, is in the class $P_k(\rho)$ if ${\int}_0^{2\pi}\|\frac{Re\;p(z)-\rho}{p-\rho}\|\;d\theta\;\leq\;k{\pi}$, where $z=re^{i\theta}$, $k\;\geq\;2$ and $0\;{\leq}\;\rho\;{\leq}\;p$. We use the class $P_k(\rho)$ to introduce a new class of multivalent analytic functions and define an integral operator $L_{n+p-1}(f)\;\;=\;f_{n+p-1}^{-1}\;*\;f$ for f(z) belonging to this class. We derive some interesting properties of this generalized integral operator which include inclusion results and radius problems.
