Purpose: This study aims to investigate Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 during Helicobacter pylori eradication in children. Methods: One hundred ninety-four H. pylori positive children were randomized in two groups. Therapy (omeprazole+ clarithromycin+amoxicillin or omeprazole+clarithromycin+metronidazole in case of penicillin allergy) was given to both groups during two weeks. In the treatment group (n: 102) S. boulardii was added to the triple therapy, while the control group (n: 92) only received triple therapy. The incidence, onset, duration and severity of diarrhea and compliance to the eradication treatment were compared. A $^{13}C$ urea breath test was done 4 weeks after the end of eradication therapy in two groups of 21 patients aged 12 years and older to test the H. pylori eradication rate. Results: In the treatment group, diarrhea occurred in 12 cases (11.76%), starting after $6.25{\pm}1.24days$, lasting $3.17{\pm}1.08days$, and compliance to eradication treatment was 100%. In the control group, diarrhea occurred in 26 cases (28.26%), starting after $4.05{\pm}1.11days$, lasting $4.02{\pm}0.87days$, and in six cases eradication treatment was stopped prematurely (p<0.05). The $^{13}C$ urea breath test showed successful H. pylori eradication in 71.4% of the patients in the treatment and in 61.9 % in the control group (not significant). Conclusion: S. boulardii has a beneficial effect on the prevention and treatment of diarrhea during H. pylori eradication in children. Although S. boulardii did only slightly increase H. pylori eradication rate, compliance to eradication treatment was improved.
The dissolution test method and an analytical procedure by HPLC were developed and validated for nafronyl oxalate capsules and tramadol hydrochloride capsules. These drugs were not yet characterized by the dissolution specifications in the Korean Pharmaceutical Codex. So, with each reference and test drugs, we did the preliminary and standard experiments based on the Korean Pharmacopeia Guideline of dissolution testing for solid oral dosage forms. The dissolution test for nafronyl oxalate capsules was carried out under sink conditions as follows: dissolution medium phosphate buffer pH 6.8, paddle rotation speed 100 rpm and vessel volume 900 ml. More than 80% of its label amount was released within 30 min in this method. Also the dissolution test for tramadol hydrochloride capsules was carried out under sink conditions as follows: dissolution medium water, paddle rotation speed 50 rpm and vessel volume 900 ml. More than 90% of its label amount was released within 15 min in this method. The dissolution samples were analyzed with a validated HPLC analytical procedure. The analytical methodology showed acceptable values in terms of specificity, linearity, precision and accuracy. The dissolution test methods described above were adequate for the purpose and may be proposed as a pharmacopeial standard to assess the performance of nafronyl oxalate capsules and tramadol hydrochloride capsules. Furthermore, the outcomes of this study were expected to help create an environment where safe and high quality drugs would be distributed on the domestic market making contributions to advancing public health.

Objectives: Materials coming into contact with food may result in the migration of chemical substances into the food. To protect consumers from exposure, Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 specifies the use of standard migration tests. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), widely used for food packaging materials, has drawn the attention of researchers because unwanted migration of PET into food might occur when consumers reuse packaging material. The aim of this study was to predict and develop a migration model for two components, acetaldehyde and butyraldehyde in PET, into food simulants under conditions of changing pH and solvents, such as those observed in fermented foods like kimchi or sauerkraut. Methods: Using a migration model based on Fick's second law of diffusion in one dimension, the migration of acetaldehyde and butyraldehyde from PET into a simulant of fermented food at $20^{\circ}C$ over 10 days was evaluated. The simulant for fermented food was modelled as 10% ethanol for three days, followed by 3% acetic acid for seven days. Results: The migration of acetaldehyde into the 10% ethanol was 0.36 times that of a simulated fermented food system, while that of butyraldehyde was 1.34 times greater. These results may have been influenced by the chemical interactions among the migrants, polymers and simulants, as well as by the solubilities of the migrants in polymers and simulants. Conclusion: Because food simulants have a limited capacity to mimic real food systems under the current migration model, an appropriate simulant and migration test should be considered in the case of increasing acidity. Furthermore, since the accuracy of the worst-case estimation of migration predicted by the current model is severely limited under changing food conditions, food simulants and their interactions should be further investigated with respect to conservative migration modelling.

The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of particle pre-treatment on physical, mechanical, and durability of jatropha fruit hulls (JFH) particleboard. The pre-treatments included were immersing in cold water, hot water, and acetic acid solution. After each treatment, the particles were dried up to 3% moisture content. Urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin was used to fabricate particleboards with board size, thickness and density target of 25 cm by 25 cm, 0.80 cm, and $0.70g/cm^3$, respectively. Board pressed at $130^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes, and $25kg/cm^2$ pressure. The evaluation of particleboard followed the JIS A 5908-2003. Whilist their resistance to subterranean termite test (mass loss, mortality, antifeedant value and feeding rate) refers to the Indonesian standard (SNI 01.7207-2006). The physical and mechanical properties of particleboards showed that all pre-treatments decreased the pH of particles. Overall, all particle immersing treatments resulted of better physical and mechanical properties of particleboard than those of untreated ones. The acetic acid treatment resulted the best physical and mechanical properties of particleboard. Based on the mass loss of JFH particleboard, hot water and acetic acid treated particleboards were classified into weak resistance to subterranean attack. The other two treatments were classified into very weak resistance. Hot water treated particleboard provided the highest mortality and antifeedant as much as 87.40% and 34.20%, respectively. Based on antifeedant classification, hot water treated particleboards were classified into moderately strong resistance, while other treatments were categorized into weak resistance. The lowest feeding rate value ($45.30{\mu}g/termite/day$) was attained by hot water treatment.
This study was to examine the effect of functional properties of soy protein isolate(SPI) and qualities of soybean curd upon proteolytic hydrolysis. SPI was hydrolyzed using proteolytic enzyme, bromelain. The protein content of SPI by microkjeldahl method was 84% and the degree of hydrolysis in modified soy protein isolate(MSPI) was 2.7%. The solubility of MSPI was higher than that of control at various pH tested and proteolytic hydrolysis was increased emulsion formation and foam expansion while decreased emulsion stability, foam stability and calcium precipitation. Modified soybean curdI, standard soybean milk: Modified soybean milk=3:1, was soft and springy soybean curd when the texture properties of soybean curd were tested by texture profile analysis using Instron and sensory evaluation. The rheological model of soybean curds was investigated by stress relaxation test. The analysis of relaxation curve revealed that the rheological behavior of soybean curds could be expressed by 7-element generalized Maxwell model. The equilibrium modulus and modulus of elasticity decreased as the ratio of modified soybean milk was increased.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between filter replacement and filter performance change in particulate filters used in the workplace. Methods: Three types of particulate respirator filters are mainly used in the workplaces. These were tested against the filter performance safety certification standard for dust masks established by the Ministry of Employment and Labor(MoEL). Used filters were collected to test their performance, such as filter pressure drop, efficiency, and quality factors. All these factors were evaluated by a filter tester. To compare filter performance between used and new ones, the same kinds of new filters were also tested together under the same procedures. Results: A total of 270 used filters were collected for testing. The main reasons to replace the filters were difficulty in breathing(46.2%), dirty/odor influx(19.7%), and a combination of factors(26.7%). The pressure drop for two special class groups was significantly different(new filters: $20.72{\pm}3.33mmH_2O$; used filters: $24.70{\pm}5.26mmH_2O$, p<0.0001). In the case of penetration, new filter groups indicated $0.0032{\pm}0.0040%$, while that of the used filters was $0.0596{\pm}0.1187%$. The quality factor for the used filters($0.34{\pm}0.09$) significantly decreased compared to the new filters($0.53{\pm}0.08$) (p<0.0001). Conclusions: Filter performance including pressure drop, penetration, and the quality factor was evaluated and compared between new and used filters in the workplace. The results showed that general filter performance deteriorated more for change of pressure drop, penetration and the quality factor.
An abrasive, calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate (DCPD), was synthesized in a Box-wilson experimental design by reactions between phosphoric acid and milk of lime, and calcium chloride and sodium phosphate solutions, and stabilized with TSPP and TMP. The optimum conditions for preparation of DCPD from phosphoric acid with milk of lime were such as; reaction temp.; $51.9^{\circ}C$, conc. of lime; 25.9%, conc. of phosphoric acd; 77.9%, drying temp.; $60.2^{\circ}C$ and final pH; 6.46. The physico-chemical and pharmaceutical properties of DCPD were showed as follows: glycerin absorption value(68 ml/100g), whiteness(99.5%), particle size(10.9 nm), pH(7.8), and set test(pass). XRD and SEM of DCPD indicated a monoclinic system crystallographically. $N_2$ adsorption isotherm curve by BET showed non porous type II form. The micromeritic parameters of DCPD showed that surface area was $3.27{\sim}4.6\;cm^{2}/g$ and pore volume, pore area and pore radius were negligible. The rheogram of the toothpaste containing DCPD showed pseudoplastic flow with yield value of 321, and thixotropic behavior forming hysteresis loop. These results meet the requirements as abrasive standard, and sythesized DCPD is expected as a good dental abrasive such as a high quality grade in practice.
Optimal analytical conditions have been established for mixing and reaction coil length, concentrations of ECR, CTAB, and acetate, reaction temperature and pH in the determination of aluminum by using flow injection analysis(FIA). Detection limit and repeatability for this system were $3{\mu}g/L$ and better than 1% of relative standard deviation, respectively. The interference from iron(III) was suppressed up to 6mg/L of iron(III) by $0.1{\mu}M$ ascorbic acid, and the interference from fluoride could be tolerated in absorption of Al/ECR/CTAB derivative by 10mM boric acid at pH 3.5 adjusted with nitric acid. This FIA system was applied to the determination of aluminum leached from cooking utensils by distilled and tap water containing fluoride ranged from 0.5 to 2mg/L by measurement of absorbance for Al/ECR/CTAB at 585nm. The leached aluminum content was increased with increasing concentration of fluoride. The aluminum contents leached from aluminum utensils by tap water were about 9 fold higher than those leached by distilled water, whereas aluminum contents leached by distilled water containing fluoride were about 2 fold higher compared to those leached by distilled water. That represented that other dissolved substances as well as fluoride in tap water contributed to liberation of aluminum from aluminum utensils. A comparison between FIA data and ICP-AES data by correlation and paired t test showed that the FIA system could be accepted as a good alternative method for the determination of aluminum in tap water.
The engineering characteristics of synthetic polymer-silica sol, which has the effect of reducing leakage, was evaluate and compared with typical grouting material, the water glass-based SGR injection material in this study. The result of the laboratory tests on strength and durability about the synthetic polymer-silica sol showed more than twice as high as LW-based injection materials in uniaxial compressive strength, significantly lower values in shrinkage rate and permeability. The result of pH was less than 8.5 (the drinking water quality standard). As a result of the leaching test, the Na2O elution amount of the synthetic polymer-silica sol was measured to be 3 to 4 times smaller than that of the water glass grout. These results be assumed that the synthetic polymer-silica sol has better durability and permeability than those of the typical water glass-based grout.
