An adequate method to identify chromium separation, Cr(III) and Cr(VI), in water samples were studied by using High Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC) coupled with Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectometer(ICP-MS) equipped with Dynamic Reaction Cell(DRC). The characteristic distribution of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in the raw water taken at the six water intake stations in Seoul, was analyzed by the method developed by the authors. The chromium species separated by HPLC was isocratically conducted by using tetrabutylammonium phosphate monobasic(1.0 mM TBAP), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(0.6 mM EDTA) and 2% v/v methanol as the mobile phase. 5% v/v methanol was used as flushing solvent. A reactive ammonia($NH_3$) gas was used to eliminate the potential interference of $ArC^+$. Several Parameters such as solvent ratio, pH, flow rate and sample injection volume were optimized for the successful separation and reproducibility. Although it has been reported thai the separation sensitivity of Cr(III) is superior to that of Cr(VI), the authors observed Cr(VI) was more sensitive than Cr(III) when ammonia($NH_3$) gas was used as the reaction gas. It took less than 3 minutes to analyze chromium species with this method and the estimated detection limits were $0.061\;{\mu}g/L$ for Cr(III) and $0.052\;{\mu}g/L$, for Cr(VI). According to the results from the analysis on chromium species in the raw water of the six intake stations, the concentrations of Cr(III) ranged from 0.048 to $0.064\;{\mu}g/L$(ave. $0.054\;{\mu}g/L$) while that of Cr(VI) ranged from 0.014 to $0.023\;{\mu}g/L$(ave. $0.019\;{\mu}g/L$). Recovery ratio was very high($90.1{\sim}94.1%$). There were two or three times more Cr(III) than Cr(VI) in the raw water.
For this study, I used the urine of 100 dental laboratroy technicians and 24 students in Chonbuk region. The purposes of this study were to investigate concentrations of cadmium (Cd), nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) in the air of dental laboratories. The results were as follows: 1. The concentrations of Cd is 0.0115mg/m$^{3}$ in the porcelain part, 0.0090mg/m$^{3}$ in the polishing part, that of Ni is 0.2864mg/m$^{3}$ in the porcelain part, 0.3188mg/m$^{3}$ in the polishing part, that of Cr is 0.0448mg/m$^{3}$ in the porcelain part, 0.1032mg/m$^{3}$ in the polishing part. 2. The concentrations of Cd, Ni and Cr in the technicians urine are 3.06 $\mu$g/l, 44.55 $\mu$g/l and 14.58 $\mu$g/l. Those of students, urine as the control group are 1.93 $\mu$g/l, 19.05 $\mu$g/l and 7.48 $\mu$g/l. There is significant difference between experimental group and control group (P < 0.01). 3. Watching for age and working place, 31-40 years age group reveals the highest group in the concentrations of Cd. Over 41 year age group represents the highest group in the concentrations of Ni and Cr (P < 0.01) The concentration of Cd turns up the highest in the partial part and that of Ni and Cr appears the highest in the polishing part (P < 0.01). Looking into working age, over 7 year group is the highest group in the concentrations of all investigated (P < 0.05).
The adsorption mechanism of Chromium(VI) uptake in silk fibroin fibers was discussed. The adsorption equilbrium of Chromium(VI) is significantly influenced by the initial adsorption rate and it showed 52% of the equilibrium uptake. The Chromium(VI) uptake by silk fibroin in increased with the acidic range of pH, which react upon Chromium(VI) oxidations. The enthalpy change in the Chromium(VI) on the temperatures, $\Delta$H, was found to be 39.7 KJ.mol-1, It means that the Chromium(VI) adsorption proceeds via a certain complex chemical reaction and the Chromium complex was found to be coordinated with carbonyl group of amides from the result of infrared spectra. The chroming of silk fibroin fibers in moderated in the conditions of 5$0^{\circ}C$, pH 2.4, and 3 hours, which prevent from the loss of physical properties. The equilibrium adsorption is attained at 5 X 10-3M of Chromium(VI) solutions.

The structure of the scale formed on the surface of Fe - Cr - X alloys exposed to 1143K high sulfidation($Ps_2$ = 1.11$\times$$10^-7$ atm, $Po_2$ = 3.11$\times$$10^-20$ atm) or sulfidation/oxidation(($Ps_2$= 1.06$\times$$10^-7$ atm, ($Po_2$ = 3.11$\times$$10^-18$ atm) environment has been observed and analysed using XRD, SEM/EDS. To investigate the possibility of protective film formed on the surface of the alloys, Aluminium, Nickel were selected as alloying elements. Thermodynamic phase stability diagram was used to predict the reaction path of scale formed on Fe - Cr - X alloys. Parabolic rate constant($K_p$) value with 6wt% Al in Fe - 25Cr alloy decreased significantly compared with the Fe - 25Cr alloy without 6wt% Al. Since thin layer of defect free sulfide film, (Al, Cr)Sx, was formed at the alloy/scale interface. Fe - rich sulfide scale at outer layer and Cr - rich sulfide scale containing porosity at inner layer of Fe - 25Cr alloy have been observed. The reaction path for these scales could be predicted by the thermodynamic stability diagram.

The biocompatibility and the fatigue strength of Co-Cr-Mo alloy are excellent, so it is used well for the material of artificial joints. The head of artificial joint needs mirror surface for reduction of abrasive resistance. Mirror finishing of Co-Cr-Mo alloy with geometrically defined single crystal diamond cutting tools is handicapped by micro chipping of tool edge. In general, it is said that the micro chipping of diamond tool is caused by work hardening of Co-Cr-Mo alloy for the cut. In the present research, mirror finishing of Co-Cr-Mo alloy by applying ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting was carried out. The experimental results show that the micro chipping of diamond tool was suppressed and the tool wear was remarkably reduced as compared with the ordinary diamond cutting without elliptical vibration motion. It was confirmed that the good mirror surface of maximum surface roughness of 25 nmP-V was obtained for the cutting length of about 14 m. It is expected that mirror finishing of Co-Cr-Mo alloy can be achieved by applying ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting practically.
Porcine fibroblasts were transferred into enucleated bovine oocytes for the interspecies nuclear transfer (NT). After NT, the embryos were cultured in three different culture systems. The media used for the experiment were CR1aa and NCSU23. The culture systems used for the experiment were: 1. Culture in CR1aa for 7 days (CR). 2. Culture in CR1aa for 2 days and subsequently in NCSU23 for 5 days (CR-NC). 3. Culture in NCSU23 for 7 days (NC). Bovine (intraspecies) NT group was used as a control. The oocytes in bovine NT group were treated the same as interspecies NT embryos except using bovine fibroblasts as nuclear donors. Regardless of their nuclear origin (interspecies vs bovine), the embryos in CR (68.4% vs 77.2%) and CR-NC (67.8% vs 70.5%) showed better developmental competence to the 2-cell stage (p<0.05) than those in NC (41.0% vs 10.0%). Bovine NT embryos in CR-NC did not develop over the 4-cell stage after the medium replacement, while interspecies NT embryos in CR-NC continued to develop and could reach over the 8-cell stage (12.2%). Blastocysts were only found in bovine NT group (17.4%), but no blastocyst was found in interspecies NT group. This study suggests that the development of interspecies NT embryos mostly depends on their recipient cytoplasm during the culture in vitro.
Background: Neoadjuvant systemic chemotherapy is the accepted approach for women with locally advanced breast cancer. Anthracycline- and taxane-based regimens have been extensively studied in clinical trials and consequently are widely used. In this study aimed to research the complete response (pCR) rates in different regimens for neoadjuvant setting and determine associated clinical and biological factors. Methods: This study included 63 patients diagnosed with breast carcinoma among 95 patients that had been treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy between 2007 and 2010. TNM staging system was used for staging. The histologic response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy was characterized as a pCR when there was no evidence of residual invasive tumor in the breast or axillary lymph nodes. Biologic subclassification using estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), HER2 were performed. Luminal A was defined as ER+, PR+, HER2-; Luminal B tumor was defined as ER+, PR-, HER2-; ER+, PR-, HER2+; ER-, PR+, HER2-; ER+, PR+, HER2+; HER2 like tumor ER-, PR+, HER2+; and triple negative tumor ER, PR, HER2 negative. Results: Patients median age was 54.14 (min-max: 30-75). Thirty-two patients (50.8%) were premenapousal and 31 (49.2%) were postmenapousal. Staging was performed postoperatively based on the pathology report and appropriated imaging modalities The TNM (tumor, lymph node, metastasis) system was used for clinical and pathological staging. Fifty-seven (90.5%) were invasive ductal carcinomas, 6 (9.5%) were other subtypes. Thirty nine (61.9%) were grade II and 24 (38.1%) were grade III. Seven (11.1%) patients were stage II and 56 (88.9) patients were stage III. The patients were classified for ER, PR receptor and HER2 positivity. Seventeen patients had complete response to chemotherapy. Forty patients (63.5%) were treated with dose dense regimen (cyclophosphamide 600 mg/m2 and doxorubicine 60 mg/m every two weeks than paclitaxel 175 mg/m2 every two weeks with filgrastim support) 40 patients (48%) were treated anthracycline and taxane containing regimens. Thirteen patients (76%) from 17 patients with pCR were treated with the dose dense regimen but without statistical significance (p=0.06). pCR was higher in HER2(-), ER(-), grade III, premenopausal patients. Conclusion: pCR rate was higher in the group that treated with dose dense regimen, which should thus be the selected regimen in neoadjuvant setting. Some other factors can predict pCR in Turkish patients, like grade, menopausal status, triple negativity, percentage of ER positivity, and HER2 expression.

Objective: Mammographic density is an independent risk factor for breast cancer that can change after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT). This study aimed to evaluate percent changes in volumetric breast density (ΔVbd%) before and after NCT measured automatically and determine its value as a predictive marker of pathological response to NCT. Materials and Methods: A total of 357 patients with breast cancer treated between January 2014 and December 2016 were included. An automated volumetric breast density (Vbd) measurement method was used to calculate Vbd on mammography before and after NCT. Patients were divided into three groups according to ΔVbd%, calculated as follows: Vbd (post-NCT - pre-NCT)/pre-NCT Vbd × 100 (%). The stable, decreased, and increased groups were defined as -20% ≤ ΔVbd% ≤ 20%, ΔVbd% < -20%, and ΔVbd% > 20%, respectively. Pathological complete response (pCR) was considered to be achieved after NCT if there was no evidence of invasive carcinoma in the breast or metastatic tumors in the axillary and regional lymph nodes on surgical pathology. The association between ΔVbd% grouping and pCR was analyzed using univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses. Results: The interval between the pre-NCT and post-NCT mammograms ranged from 79 to 250 days (median, 170 days). In the multivariable analysis, ΔVbd% grouping (odds ratio for pCR of 0.420 [95% confidence interval, 0.195-0.905; P = 0.027] for the decreased group compared with the stable group), N stage at diagnosis, histologic grade, and breast cancer subtype were significantly associated with pCR. This tendency was more evident in the luminal B-like and triple-negative subtypes. Conclusion: ΔVbd% was associated with pCR in breast cancer after NCT, with the decreased group showing a lower rate of pCR than the stable group. Automated measurement of ΔVbd% may help predict the NCT response and prognosis in breast cancer.
Purpose: In this study, for the reasons of observing the changes when using bonding agent with Ni-Cr alloy and Co-Cr alloy and using VM13 and Vintage MP ceramic which have the disparity in coefficient of thermal expansion, it is carried out to evaluate the characteristics of the bonding agent through the analysis of the interface between metal and ceramic and the analysis of bond strength by variable. Methods: The surface treatment was performed on the two kinds of alloy(Ni-Cr alloy and Co-Cr alloy) specimens, which were sandblasted and were treated with bonder application. The metal-ceramic interfaces were analyzed with EPMA in order to ionic diffusion, and the shear test was performed. Results: As a result of observation of metal-ceramic interfacial properties, it was observed that Cr atoms were spread from the alloy body to the ceramic floor in the specimen of Group B. It was also seen that Cr, W atoms were spread from the alloy body to the ceramic floor in the specimen of Group S. In consequence of observing Shear bond strength, it was calculated that the specimen of BSV was 27.75(${\pm}11.21$)MPa, BSM was 27.02(${\pm}5.23$)MPa, BCV was 30.20(${\pm}5.99$)MPa, BCM was 27.94(${\pm}10.76$)MPa, SSV was 20.83(${\pm}2.58$)MPa, SSM was 23.98(${\pm}3.94$)MPa, SCV was 32.32(${\pm}4.68$)MPa, and SCM was 34.54(${\pm}10.63$)MPa. Conclusion: In the metal-ceramic interface of Bellabond plus sample group, diffusion of Cr atoms was incurred and diffusion of C Cr atoms and W atoms in the sample group of $Starloy{(R)}\;C$ was observed. Using bonding agent showed the higher bond strength than using the sand blasting treatment. In the Bellabond plus alloys, the specimen group with the use of binding materials showed higher shear bond strength, but didn't show statistically significant differences (p>0.05). In the $Starloy{(R)}\;C$ alloys, the specimen group with the use of binding materials showed higher shear bond strength and statistically significant differences(p<0.05). In terms of VM13 ceramic, it was in the Bellabond plus alloys that the high shear bond strength was showed, but there's no statistically significant differences(p>0.05). In terms of Vintage MP ceramic, it was in the $Starloy{(R)}\;C$ alloys that the high shear bond strength was showed and statistically significant differences(p<0.05). Metal-ceramic to fracture of the shear strength measurements and an analysis of all aspects of military usage fracture of the composite, respectively.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate of Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) coating on shear bond strength with denture base resin in Co-Cr and Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Materials and Methods: Co-Cr and Ti-6Al-4V alloy disks (10 mm in diameter, 2.5 mm in thickness; each other: n = 14) were prepared and divided with 2 groups each other by ZrN coating. After primer was applied to disks surface, denture base resin with diameter 6 mm, height 5 mm was bonded on metal disk surface. After surface roughness was measured by Profiler, shear bond strength was determined with Universal testing machine and analyzed with two-way ANOVA. The specimen surfaces and failure mode were examined using a scanning electron microscope. Results: ZrN coated groups showed significantly higher rough surface than non-coated groups (P < 0.05). Irrespective of alloy materials, shear bond strength of ZrN coated groups were lower than non-coated groups (P < 0.001). The scanning electron microscope (SEM) of ZrN coated groups showed mixed and adhesive fractures. Conclusion: ZrN coating weakened bonding strength between denture base resin and Co-Cr, Ti-6Al-4V alloy.
