  • Let $M^n$ be a complete immersed super stable minimal submanifold in $\mathbb{R}^{n+p}$ with fiat normal bundle. We prove that if M has finite total $L^2$ norm of its second fundamental form, then M is an affine n-plane. We also prove that any complete immersed super stable minimal submanifold with flat normal bundle has only one end.

  • We investigate the existence of solutions of the nonlinear biharmonic equation with variable coefficient polynomial growth nonlinear term and Dirichlet boundary condition. We get a theorem which shows that there exists a bounded solution and a large norm solution depending on the variable coefficient. We obtain this result by variational method, generalized mountain pass geometry and critical point theory.

  • This paper presents an adaptive receding horizon H$_{\infty}$ controller for the linear parameter varying systems in the deterministic environment, which combines a parameter range estimator and a robust receding horizon H$_{\infty}$ controller using the parameter bounds. Using parameter set inclusion and terminal inequality condition, the closed-loop system stability is guaranteed. It is shown that the stabilizing adaptive receding horizon H$_{\infty}$ controller guarantees the H$_{\infty}$ norm bound.

  • In the present paper we first establish some basic results for a substantially more general class of functions defined below. The results include simple differentiation and fractional calculus operators(integration and differentiation of arbitrary orders) for this class of functions. These results are then invoked in determining similar properties for the generalized Wright's hypergeometric functions. Further, norm estimate of a certain class of integral operators whose kernel involves the generalized Wright's hypergeometric function, and its composition(and other related properties) with the fractional calculus operators are also investigated.

  • A new error measure for a static finite element analysis is proposed. This error measure is a modification to the Zienkiewicz and Zhu energy norm. The new error estimator is a global error measure for the analysis and is independent of finite element model size and internal stresses, hence it is readily transportable to other error calculations. It is shown in this paper the the new error estimator also produces conservative error measurements, making it a suitable procedure to adopt in commerical packages.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of phytoncide aromatherapy on stress, symptoms of stress and heart rate variability among nursing students. Methods: This study is a randomized control-group non-synchronized design. The experimental group (n=31) underwent phytoncide aromatherapy for 2 weeks, while the control group (n=31) received placebo therapy. The data were collected using self-administration questionnaires and measurement of heart rate variability (HRV) and analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 program. A p value <.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Total score of stress, individual score of intrapersonal stress, and score of peripheral manifestations in symptoms of stress in the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group. All indices of HRV were significantly different between the two groups. LF norm and LF/HF ratio in the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and HF norm in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of in the control group. Conclusion: Based on these results, it can be suggested that phytoncide aromatherapy was effective in decreasing stress and peripheral manifestations of stress and changing in HRV among nursing students.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to construct a structural equation model (SEM) that would describe the binge drinking among Korean undergraduate students. Methods: Model construction was based on the theory of planned behavior and prototype/willingness model, using the variables; intention, attitude, descriptive norm, and prototype perception of binge drinking, alcohol use disorders identification test (AUDIT), and binge drinking behavior. The analysis of data was done with both SPSS 20.0 for descriptive statistics and AMOS 20.0 for SEM. Results: The binge drinking intention was found to have a significantly direct effect in influencing binge drinking behavior. In addition, attitude, descriptive norm, and prototype perception of binge drinking were found to have a significantly direct effect in influencing binge drinking intention. The final modified model yielded $x^2$=374.2 (p<.001), df=174, $x^2/df$=2.15, GFI=.87, AGFI=.82, NFI=.89, PNFI=.73 RMSEA=.07, and CFI=.94. Conclusion: This study constructed a model that addressed the factors related to binge drinking and described the relationship of these factors in influencing binge drinking among Korean undergraduate students. Findings from this study can contribute to designing appropriate prevention strategies to reduce problem related binge drinking in undergraduate students.

  • We consider the hp-version to solve non-constant coefficient elliptic equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions on a bounded, convex polygonal domain $\Omega$ in $R^{2}.$ To compute the integrals in the variational formulation of the discrete problem we need the numerical quadrature rule scheme. In this paler we consider a family $G_{p}= {I_{m}}$ of numerical quadrature rules satisfying certain properties. When the numerical quadrature rules $I_{m}{\in}G_{p}$ are used for calculating the integrals in the stiffness matrix of the variational form we will give its variational fore and derive an error estimate of ${\parallel}u-\tilde{u}^h_p{\parallel}_0,{\Omega}'$.

  • In this note, we consider a robust linear shift-invariant feedback compensator design for discrete-time multivariable systems which have both matched and mismatched uncertainties. In order to attack the problem of designing robust compensators guaranteeing uniform ultimate boundedness of every closed-loop system response within a neighborhood of the zero state based solely on the knowledge of the upper norm-bounds of uncertainties, we use an approach which is effective on studying augmented feedback control systems with both mismatched and matched uncertainties. We draw some robust stability conditions using the approach and give an example.
