  • Objective: This study investigated the effects of dietary n-6:n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) ratio on growth performance, blood indexes, tissue fatty acid composition and the gene expression in finishing pigs. Methods: Seventy-two crossbred ([Duroc×Landrace]×Yorkshire) barrows (68.5±1.8 kg) were fed one of four isoenergetic and isonitrogenous diets with n-6:n-3 PUFA ratios of 2:1, 3:1, 5:1, and 8:1. Results: Average daily gain, average daily feed intake and gain-to-feed ratio had quadratic responses but the measurements were increased and then decreased (quadratic, p<0.05). The concentrations of serum triglyceride, total cholesterol and interleukin 6 were linearly increased (p<0.05) with increasing of dietary n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio, while that of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol tended to decrease (p = 0.062), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol:low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and leptin concentration were linearly decreased (p<0.05). The concentration of serum adiponectin had a quadratic response but the measurement was decreased and then increased (quadratic, p<0.05). The proportion of C18:3n-3 was linearly decreased (p<0.05) in the longissimus thoracis (LT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SCAT) as dietary n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio increasing, while the proportion of C18:2n-6 and n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio were linearly increased (p<0.05). In addition, the expression levels of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) and lipoprotein lipase in the LT and SCAT, and adipocyte fatty acid binding protein and hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) in the SCAT had quadratic responses but the measurements were increased and then decreased (quadratic, p<0.05). The expression of HSL in the LT was linearly decreased (p<0.05) with increasing of dietary n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio. Conclusion: Dietary n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio could regulate lipid and fatty acid metabolism in blood and tissue. Reducing dietary n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio (3:1) could appropriately suppress expression of related genes in PPARγ signaling, and result in improved growth performance and n-3 PUFA deposition in muscle and adipose tissue in finishing pigs.

  • Let K be a nonempty closed convex subset of a real Hilbert space H. Let T : K $\rightarrow$ K be a nonexpansive mapping with a nonempty fixed point set Fix(T). Let f : K $\rightarrow$ K be a contraction mapping. Let {$\alpha_n$} and {$\beta_n$} be sequences in (0, 1) such that $\lim_{x{\rightarrow}0}{\alpha}_n=0$, (0.1) $\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}\;{\alpha}_n=+{\infty}$, (0.2) 0 < a ${\leq}\;{\beta}_n\;{\leq}$ b < 1 for all $n\;{\geq}\;0$. (0.3) Then it is proved that the modified Krasnoselski-Mann iterative sequence {$x_n$} given by {$x_0\;{\in}\;K$, $y_n\;=\;{\alpha}_{n}f(x_n)+(1-\alpha_n)x_n$, $n\;{\geq}\;0$, $x_{n+1}=(1-{\beta}_n)y_n+{\beta}_nTy_n$, $n\;{\geq}\;0$, (0.4) converges strongly to a point p $\in$ Fix(T} which satisfies the variational inequality

    $\leq$ 0, z $\in$ Fix(T). (0.5) This result improves and extends the corresponding results of Yao et al[Y.Yao, H. Zhou, Y. C. Liou, Strong convergence of a modified Krasnoselski-Mann iterative algorithm for non-expansive mappings, J Appl Math Com-put (2009)29:383-389.

  • A programme, called BIPOLE, for the numerical analysis of twotimensional n-p-n bipolar transistors was developed. It has included the SRH and Auger recolnbination processes, the mobility dependence on the impurity density and the electric field, and the band-gap narrowing effect. The finite difference equations of the fundamental semiconductor equations are formulated using Newton's method for Poisson's equation and the divergence theorem for the hole and electron continuity equations without physical restrictions. The matrix of the linearized equations is sparse, symmetric M-matrix. For the solution of the linearized equations ICCG method and Gummel's algorithm have been employed. The programme BIPOLE has been applied to various kinds of the steady-state problems of n-p-n transistors. For the examples of applications the variations of common emitter current gain, emitter and diffusion capacitances, and input and output characteristics are calculated. Three-dimensional representations of some D.C. physical quantities such as potential and charge carrier distributions were displayed. This programme will be used for the nome, rical analysis of the distortion phenom ana of two-dimensional n-p-n transistors. The BIPOLE programme is available for everyone.

  • In order to develop the square wave voltammetric method determining cimetidine in an ampoule for injection, $5.00{\times}10^{-4}\;M$ cimetidine HCl solutions prepared with phosphate buffers of various pH values (3.01~8.97) were investigated by SWV. The well defined single peak due to the electrochemical reduction of -C=N-C$\equiv$N- in the structure of cimetidine moved towards the cathodic direction by -0.051V/pH as the pH values were increased indicating the involvement of hydrogen in its reduction. The calibration curves of cimetidine HCl in the concentration range between $1.00{\times}10^{-5}\;M$ and $5.00{\times}10^{-3}\;M$ prepared using three phosphate buffers yielded the slopes of 127,407nA/M (pH 3.01), 115,125nA/M (pH 5.00) and 111,287nA/M(pH 7.00) with excellent linearities of $R^2{\geqq}0.9997$. When one ampoule of Tagma Inj.$^{(R)}$ was analyzed by standard addition method by SWV, the within-day precision study (n=4) on the day of sample preparation resulted in the contents of cimetidine as $203{\pm}3.8\;mg$ (102% of the specified contents, RSD of 1.9%) and the inter-day precision (n=4) through 5 days was reasonable as 1.3% of RSD.

  • This study investigated the removal characteristics of highly concentrated $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P by struvite crystallization using converter slag as a seed crystal. The optimal pH range for removal and recovery of $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P by struvite crystallization was measured to be 8.0~8.75, in which total removal efficiencies for $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P by struvite precipitation and crystallization were 34.3~61.0% and 91.0~96.2%, respectively. The maximum removal efficiencies for $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P by struvite crystallization were 29.4% at pH 8.5 and 65.1% at pH 8.0, respectively. The removal efficiency of $NH_4$-N by struvite crystallization decreased with increasing calcium ion concentration. The analysis results of SEM, EDS and XRD exhibited that $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P in meta-stable region of struvite crystallization could be eliminated through formation of magnesium ammonia phosphate (MAP) and hydroxyapatite (HAp) on seed crystals by struvite precipitation and crystallization.

  • Let $p(z)=\sum\limits_{\nu=0}^{n}a_{\nu}z^{\nu}$ be a polynomial of degree n and $p^{\prime}(z)$ its derivative. If $\max\limits_{{\mid}z{\mid}=r}{\mid}p(z){\mid}$ is denoted by M(p, r). If p(z) has all its zeros on |z| = k, k ≤ 1, then it was shown by Govil [3] that $$M(p^{\prime},\;1){\leq}\frac{n}{k^n+k^{n-1}}M(p,\;1)$$. In this paper, we first prove a result concerning the sth derivative where 1 ≤ s < n of the polynomial involving some of the co-efficients of the polynomial. Our result not only improves and generalizes the above inequality, but also gives a generalization to higher derivative of a result due to Dewan and Mir [2] in this direction. Further, a direct generalization of the above inequality for the sth derivative where 1 ≤ s < n is also proved.

  • The p97 adenosine triphosphatase is a key player in protein homeostasis, responsible for unfolding ubiquitylated substrates. It engages with various adaptor proteins through its N-terminal domain, with the p97-p47 complex attracting particular attention for its involvement in membrane remodeling. Although the structures of p97 in complex with the Ubiquitin regulatory X (UBX) domain from various adaptors have been reported, the stoichiometry is conflicting. Here, we report the crystal structure of the p97 N-D1 hexamer in complex with the p47 UBX domain at a resolution of 2.7 Å. The structure reveals a stoichiometry of 6:6 between the p97 N-D1 and the p47 UBX domain. These findings provide valuable insights into the binding stoichiometry of p97 N-D1 and p47 UBX domain, which are crucial for understanding the role of p97 and adaptor proteins in cellular processes such as the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, membrane fusion, and cell cycle regulation.

  • It was shown that if Q is a fully indecomposable $n{\times}n$ orthogonal matrix then Q has at least 4n-4 nonzero entries in 1993. In this paper, we show that for each integer p with $4n-4{\leq}p{\leq}n^2$, there exist a fully indecomposable $n{\times}n$ orthogonal matrix with exactly p nonzero entries. Furthermore, we obtain a method of construction of a fully indecomposable $n{\times}n$ orthogonal matrix which has exactly 4n-4 nonzero entries. This is a part of the study in sparse matrices.

  • Let $F_0$ be the maximal real subfield of $\mathbb{Q}({\zeta}_q+{\zeta}_q^{-1})$ and $F_{\infty}={\cup}_{n{\geq}0}F_n$ be its basic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension. Let $A_n$ be the Sylow $p$-subgroup of the ideal class group of $F_n$. The aim of this paper is to examine the injectivity of the natural $mapA_n{\rightarrow}A_m$ induced by the inclusion $F_n{\rightarrow}F_m$ when $m>n{\geq}0$. By using cyclotomic units of $F_n$ and by applying cohomology theory, one gets the following result: If $p$ does not divide the order of $A_1$, then $A_n{\rightarrow}A_m$ is injective for all $m>n{\geq}0$.

  • Suppose ${X_n}$ is a Markov process taking values in some arbitrary space $(S, \varphi)$ with n-stemp transition probability $$ P^{(n)}(x, B) = Prob(X_n \in B$\mid$X_0 = x), x \in X, B \in \varphi.$$ We shall call a Markov process with transition probabilities $P{(n)}(x, B)$ $\phi$-irreducible for some non-trivial $\sigma$-finite measure $\phi$ on $\varphi$ if whenever $\phi(B) > 0$, $$ \sum^{\infty}_{n=1}{2^{-n}P^{(n)}}(x, B) > 0, for every x \in S.$$ A non-trivial $\sigma$-finite measure $\pi$ on $\varphi$ is called invariant for ${X_n}$ if $$ \int{P(x, B)\pi(dx) = \pi(B)}, B \in \varphi $$.
