  • A new alloy definition will be presented concerning increasing demands for the board level reliability of miniaturized interconnections. The damage mechanism for LFBGA components on different board finishes is not quite understood. Further demands from mobile phones are the drop test, characterizing interface performance of different package constructions in relation to decreased pad constructions and therefore interfaces. The type of intermetallic as well as the quantity of intermetallics are observed, primaliry the hardness, E modules describing the ability of strain/stress compensation. First results of board level reliability are presented after TCT-40/+150. Improvement steps from the ball formulation will be discussed in conjunction to the implementation of lead free materials In order to optimize ball materials for area array devices accelareted aging conditions like TCTs were used to analyze the board level reliability of different ball materials for BGA, LFBGA, CSP, Flip Chip. The paper outlines lead-free ball analysis in comparison to conventional solder balls for BGA and chip size packages. The important points of interest are the description of processability related to existing ball attach procedures, requirements of interconnection properties and the knowledge gained the board level reliability. • Purpose: To investigate the effectiveness of transient intubation for surfactant administration and extubated to nasal continuous positive pressure (INSURE) for treatment of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) and to identify the factors associated with INSURE failure in extremely premature infants. Methods: Eighty-four infants with gestational age less than 28 weeks treated with surfactant administration for RDS for 8 years were included. Perinatal and neonatal characteristics were retrospectively reviewed, and major pulmonary outcomes such as duration of mechanical ventilation (MV) and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) plus death at 36-week postmenstrual age (PMA) were compared between INSURE (n=48) and prolonged MV groups (n=36). The factors associated with INSURE failure were determined. Results: Duration of MV and the occurrence of BPD at 36-week PMA were significantly lower in INSURE group than in prolonged MV group (P<0.05), but BPD plus death at 36-week PMA was not significantly different between the 2 groups. In a multivariate analysis, a reduced duration of MV was only significantly associated with INSURE (P=0.001). During the study period, duration of MV significantly decreased over time with an increasing rate of INSURE application (P<0.05), and BPD plus death at 36-week PMA also tended to decrease over time. A low arterial-alveolar oxygen tension ratio (a/APO2 ratio) was a significant predictor for INSURE failure (P=0.001). Conclusion: INSURE was the noninvasive ventilation strategy in the treatment of RDS to reduce MV duration in extremely premature infants with gestational age less than 28 weeks.

  • Purpose: Adequate tissue oxygenation is considered as an essential factor for wound healing. In the non-diabetic population, an uncompromised macrocirculation generally leads to adequate tissue oxygenation. On the contrary, the macrocirculation in diabetic patients may not correlate with tissue oxygenation because of structural changes in the capillary basement membrane. Nevertheless, many medical professionals in Korea rely on macrocirculation evaluation when predicting wound healing potential of the diabetic ulcers. The purpose of this study is to compare reliability of two common macrocirculation assessment methods, Doppler probing and CT angiography, on tissue oxygenation in diabetic foot patients. Methods: Doppler and CT angiography scores were given according to the patency of the anterior and posterior tibial arteries. Tissue oxygenation was measured by transcutaneous partial oxygen tension($TcpO_2$). Doppler and CT angiography scores were statistically analyzed against $TcpO_2$ values. Sixty-eight diabetic foot ulcer patients were included in this study. Results: The test was carried out on Doppler score and $TcpO_2$ variables displayed a p-value of 0.0202, and concluded that the two variables were statistically dependent. The test used to determine for linear trends between Doppler scores and $TcpO_2$ variables displayed a p-value of 0.0149, displaying statistical linear trend between the two variables. On the contrary, the tests between CT angiography scores and $TcpO_2$ variables showed p-values of 0.1242 and 0.6590, that means no correlation between CT angiography and $TcpO_2$ scores. Conclusion: Doppler probing is more reliable than CT angiography in predicting tissue oxygenation of diabetic foot ulcers.

  • Efficient expression of the Salmonella Typhimurium tdc ABCDEG operon involved in the degradation of L-serine and L-threonine requires TdcA, the transcriptional activator of the tdc operon. We found that the tdcA gene was transiently activated when the bacterial growth condition was changed from aerobic to anaerobic, but this was not observed if Salmonella was grown anaerobically from the beginning of the culture. Expression kinetics of six tdc genes after anaerobic shock demonstrated by a real-time PCR assay showed that the tdc CDEG genes were not induced in the tdcA mutant but tdcB maintained its inducibility by anaerobic shock even in the absence of tdcA, suggesting that an additional unknown transcriptional regulation may be working for the tdcB expression. We also investigated the effects of nucleoid-associated proteins by primer extension analysis and found that H-NS repressed tdcA under anaerobic shock conditions, and fis mutation delayed the peak expression time of the tdc operon. DNA microarray analysis of genes regulated by TdcA revealed that the genes involved in N-acetylmannosamine, maltose, and propanediol utilization were significantly induced in a tdcA mutant. These findings suggest that Tdc enzymes may playa pivotal role in energy metabolism under a sudden change of oxygen tension.

  • Pulmonary tuberculosis has intermediate prevalence in Korea. It is known that tuberculosis infection predominantly involves the upper lobes, based on the fact that multiplication of Mycobacterium tuberculosis is favored in areas with decreased pulmonary blood flow, impaired lymphatic drainage, and high oxygen tension. We report this case of a 40-year-old man who was brought to our hospital with hemoptysis and dyspnea. Prior to admission, the patient had been in a bedridden state for 15 years due to an injury of the cervical spine 4~5. A 3-Dimensional computed tomography showed predominantly longitudinal distribution of centrilobular nodules along the anterior chest wall, in the left lung. MTB-PCR and AFB culture of bronchial washing fluid revealed pulmonary tuberculosis. This case shows that long-standing supine posture and decreased motion of the anterior chest wall may change the distribution of preferential infection site of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the lung, resulting in a ventral predominance of tuberculosis infection in the quadriplegic patient.

  • Radiation therapy for malignancy of head and neck leads to secondary effects, such as mucositis, xerostomia, dental caries and osteoradionecrosis. Osteoradionecrosis is a delayed complication which causes chronic pain, infection and constant deformity after necrosis. It occurs spontaneously or after primary oncologic surgery, dental extraction or by trauma of prosthesis. To reduce the incidence of osteoradionecrosis, appropriate antibiotic usage, atraumic procedure, tension-free primary suture and hyperbaric oxygen therapy are essential. This case is about a 74 years old woman who was treated for osteoradionecrosis after extraction of right lower molar at year 2006. She had received radiation therapy for angiosarcoma on tongue at year 2004. At year 2008 the patient came to our hospital for extraction of the opposite premolar but despite careful treatment, osteoradionecrosis occurred again. She was successfully treated by surgical procedure so we report this case.

  • Experiments were carried out the phenomenal observation on effect of corona treated hotmelt laminating film in process of manufacture by 2 kinds of rolling speed and electric power variatons. Surface treatment by corona which is exposure of film surface to electron of ion bombardment, rather than mere exposure to active species, like atomic oxygen or ozone, can enhance adhesion by removing contaminant, electret, roughening surface, and introducing reactive chemical group. Reactive neutrals, ions, electron and photons generated during the corona treatment interact simultaneously with polymers to alter surface chemical composition, wettability, and thus film adhesion. However, it is highly recommended that extensive chains scission is avoided because it can lead to side-effect by forming sticky matter, resulting in dropouts. This paper reviews principles of surface preparation of polypropylene substrate by corona discharging. In addition, the experimental section provides a description of parameter optimization on corona discharging treatment and its side-effect. Experimental results are discussed in terms of surface wetting as determined by contact angle and SEM measurements. When the rolling speed of the film decreased from 1.666 [m / sec] to 0.083 [m / sec], contact angle decreased from $80[^{\circ}]$ to $64[^{\circ}]$, and the wettability was greatly improved. As the supply power increased from 0.4 [kVA] to 2 [kVA] at the corona discharge surface treatment, the contact angle decreased from $77[^{\circ}]$ to $65[^{\circ}]$, and the wettability was greatly improved.

  • Breathing is essential for life and at the same time takes a role as a antidote for stress. In the Orient, it was recognized early that respiration, mind, and body have a relation that is inseparable and therefore proper breathing is so important. However, since the mechanism of therapeutic effect by breathing have not been verified, the treatment has been continued till recent years. From that which originated in the Orient, several techniques in the west have been developed to regulate breathing, and have been applying to the clinical situation and to studies, however scientific studies are still lacking. Recently, relaxed breathing has been used as an efficient strategy for breathing therapy as it has an effect on reducing physiological tension and arousal, and, therefore can be used as a basic technique to control or manage stress. In this study, in order to provide basic information and guidelines for clinical application, which will aid in the application of the theoretical basics of breathing therapy and its technique, a review of the literative was conducted. The findings are as follows: 1. Since proper breathing not only has, physically, the important function in supplying oxygen to the body but also gives a good emotional, or pleasant state of mind, it is the first step in controlling physical and mental health. 2. The basic types of breathing can be classified into two types; ‘diaphragmatic breathing(relaxed breathing)’ and ‘chest breathing(stress breathing)’. In yoga type breathing, there are four kinds of breathing, ‘upper breathing’, ‘mid breathing’, ‘down breathing’, and ‘complete breathing’. 3. The theoretical explanation of the positive thera peutic effect of breathing therapy techniques exemplifies good brain function, sufficient air flow through the nasal passages, diaphragmatic movement, light vagal stimulation, CO2 changes and cognitive diversion but in most studies, the hypothesis of CO2 is supported. 4. The technique of breathing is designated with many names according to the muscles and techniques used for breathing, and for control of stress, diaphragmatic breathing(relaxed breathing) is explained as a basic technique best used to manage of stress. 5. The relaxed-breathing includes slow diaphragmatic breathing, breath meditation, nasal breathing, yogic abdominal breathing, Benson's relaxed response, and quiet response.

  • With large specific strength and outstanding corrosion resistance and erosion resistance in sea water, titanium and titanium alloy are widely used in heat exchanger production. In particular, pure titanium demonstrates outstanding molding performance and may be considered optimal for production of heat exchanger. Since titanium is very vulnerable to oxidation and embrittlement during welding, processes with less heat input are widely used, and laser welding is widely applied by considering production performance and shield etc in atmosphere. So far, 1st report and 2nd report compared and analyzed embrittlement degrees by bead colors of weldment through oxygen and nitrogen quantitative analysis and hardness measurement, and evaluated welding performance and mechanical properties of butt welding. This study evaluated field applicability of lap welding to heat exchange plate of LPG re-liquefaction device for ships through tensile stress test, hardness test and internal pressure test etc after deducing optimal weding condition and applying to actual heat exchange plate. In bead overlap area, the experiment produced sound welds with no porosity or defect by increasing and decreasing laser power, and tensile-shear test results indicated virtually the same tension and yield strength as base metal. As a result of measuring hardness at lateral cross section and bead overlap zone of actual heat exchanger welds, hardness difference within 20Hv was produced at base metal, HAZ and weldment, and as a result of pneumatic and hydraulic pressure test, no leakage occurred.
