Effect of Oxygen for Diamond Film Synthesis with C-Hexane in Microwave Plasma Enhanced CVD Process

  • The purpose of this paper is to decide the optimum synthesis conditions of polycrystalline diamond films according to the ratio of gas mixture. Diamond films were deposited with cyclo-hexane as a carbon precursor by the microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition process. The optimum oxygen ratio to cyclo-hexane was reached about 125 % under the fixed 0.3% c-hexane in hydrogen. Oxygen plays a role in etching the graphitic components of carbon sp2 bond effectively. By OES measurement, the best synthesis conditions found out about 12.5 % and 15.75 %, which is the emission intensity ratios of CH(B-X) and $H{\beta}$ on $H{\alpha}$, respectively. Also, the electron temperature was similar about 5,000 to 5,200 K in this work.

Surface Characteristics of Copper Oxide Thin Films with Different Oxygen Ratio

  • Copper oxide thin films were deposited on the p-type Si(100) by r.f. magnetron sputtering as a function of different oxygen concentration. The deposited copper oxide thin films were investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The SEM and SE data show that the thickness of the copper oxide films was in the range of 100-400 nm. AFM images show that the surface morphology was depended on the oxygen ratio. The crystal structure of copper oxide films was changed from metallic copper to copper oxide with increasing oxygen concentration. The oxidation states of Cu 2p and O 1s resulted from XPS were consistent with XRD results.

일반 공기 및 순산소 연소 조건에서 Fuel-NOx 생성 특성의 비교 (Comparison of Fuel-NOx Formation Characteristics in Conventional Air and Oxyfuel Combustion Conditions)

  • 10 %의 암모니아가 첨가된 메탄 연료의 비예혼합 확산화염에서, 산소/이산화탄소 및 산소/질소의 산화제 내에 산소 비율의 변화에 따른 질소산화물($NO_x$)의 생성 특성을 실험 및 수치해석적으로 조사하였다. 동축류 제트 화염의 실험에서, 산소/이산화탄소의 산화제인 경우, 측정된 $NO_x$은 산소 비율의 증가에 따라 약간 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 반면에, 산소/질소의 산화제인 경우, $NO_x$은 0.7의 산소 비율에서 최대로 측정되었으며, 산소 비율에 따라 비단조적인 경향을 보였다. 결과적으로, 암모니아가 첨가된 메탄 화염에서 배출되는 $NO_x$는 일반 공기의 조건보다 순산소 연소 조건의 경우가 더 크게 측정되었다. 한편, 다양한 산화제의 조건에 대하여 $NO_x$ 생성 특성을 분석하기 위해서, 동일한 화학반응 메커니즘을 적용하여 1 차원 및 2 차원의 수치해석을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 산소/질소의 산화제에서 2 차원의 수치해석 결과가 실험적으로 측정된 $NO_x$의 배출 특성을 비교적 잘 예측하였다.

산소주입에 의한 FLAIR 영상에서 생리식염수의 신호 변화 (Signal Change of Normal Saline by Oxygen Injection in FLAIR Image)

  • 고농도의 산소를 흡입하는 경우에 자기공명영상의 FLAIR(fluid attenuated inversion-recovery, FLAIR) 영상에서 뇌척수액에서 신호가 억제되지 않고 고신호로 나타나는 경우가 있다는 보고가 있었다. 본 연구는 아가 젤로 고정한 팬텀을 제작하여 산소를 주입한 생리식염수와 조영제를 희석한 생리식염수의 신호를 FLAIR 기법의 반전시간(TI : inversion time)을 변화하여 영상을 획득하고, 분석하여 기초자료를 마련 하고자 하였다. 부산 P병원의 Philips Achieva MR 3.0T를 이용한 결과에서 자기공명영상의 FLAIR 기법에서 산소가 주입된 생리식염수의 신호 대 잡음비(signal to noise ratio)는 산소가 주입되지 않은 생리식염수 보다 증가되었다. 하지만 희석된 조영제보다는 높지 않았다. 반전시간 1,800ms에서는 산소에 의한 신호 증강이 없는 영상을 획득할 수 있었다. 산소가 주입된 생리식염수와 조영제의 대조도 대 잡음비(contrast to noise ratio)에서도 임상에서 주로 사용하는 반전시간 2,800ms보다 1,800ms에서 높게 증가되었다. 본 실험의 결과가 자기공명영상의 FLAIR 기법에서 산소 주입에 따른 뇌척수액의 신호 변화 연구에 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • ITO (indium tin oxide) thin films on PET (polyethylene terephthalate) substrate have been deposited by a dc reactive magnetron sputtering without heat treatments such as substrate heater and post heat treatment. Each sputtering parameter during the sputtering deposition is an important factor for the high quality of ITO thin films deposited on polymeric substrate. Particularly, the material, electrical and optical properties of as-deposited ITO oxide films are dominated by the ratio of oxygen partial pressure. As the experimental results, the excellent ITO films are prepared on PET substrate at the operating conditions as follows: operating pressure of 5 mTorr,target-substrate distance of 45 mm, dc power of 20-30 W, and oxygen gas ratio of 10 %. The optical transmittance is above 80 % at 550 nm, and the sheet resistance and resistivity of films are $24\;{\Omega}$/square and $1.5{\times}10^{-3}\;cm$, respectively.

디젤기관의 배기 배출물에 미치는 스크러버형 EGR 시스템 재순환 배기의 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Recirculated Exhaust Gas with Scrubber EGR System upon Exhaust Emissions in Diesel Engines)

  • The effects of recirculated exhaust gas on the characteristics of $NO_x$ and soot emissions under a wide range of engine load have been experimentally investigated by a water-cooled, four-cylinder, indirect injection, four cycle and marine diesel engine operating at two kinds of engine speeds. The simultaneous control of $NO_x$ and soot emissions in diesel engines is targeted in this study. The EGR system is used to reduce $NO_x$ emissions, and a novel diesel soot removal device with a cylinder-type scrubber for the experiment system which has 6 water injectors(A water injector has 144 nozzles in 1.0 mm diameter) is specially designed and manufactured to reduce the soot contents in the recirculated exhaust gas to intake system of the engines. The intake oxygen concentration and the mean equivalence ratio calculated by the intake air flow and fuel consumption rate, and the exhaust oxygen concentration measured are used to analyse and discuss the influences of EGR rate on $NO_x$ and soot emissions. The experiments are performed at the fixed fuel injection timing of $15.3^{\circ}$ BTDC regardless of experimental conditions. It is found that $NO_x$ emissions are decreased and soot emissions are increased owing to the drop of intake oxygen concentration and exhaust oxygen concentration, and the rise of equivalence ratio as the EGR rate rises.

고압산소환경(高壓酸素環境)에서의 산소중독(酸素中毒) 및 내성(耐性)에 관(關)한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究) (Experimental Studies on Oxygen Tolerance and Poisoning under Hyperbaric Oxygen Environment)

  • Experimental studies were performed to observe the difference in tolerance of small animals to oxygen poisoning, and also to examine the effects of certain drug for it. The three experimental groups consisted of mature rat group, immature rat group and mouse group. The animals were exposed to 5 atm. of 100% oxygen using hyperbaric chamber, and they were observed for oxygen poisoning by pulmonary and central nervous system manifestation. The tolerance to oxygen poisoning was represented by half fatality time in each experimental group. The drug applied was ammonium chloride $NH_4Cl$ and it was administered intraperitoneally in various dosages for particular attribution of its prophylactic effect. The following conclusions were made; 1. The immature rat group showed the higher degree of tolerance to oxygen poisoning, as evidenced by a more prolonged half fatality time in the group. No significant difference in the half fatality time between the mature rat and the mouse group was observed. 2. The fact that the immature group showed the higher degree of tolerance as compared with the mature rat group represented by delayed onset of convulsion. 3. There was a remarkable difference in the Lung Weight/Body Weight ratio between the experimental and control group. 4. The animals with a shorter half fatality time uniformally displayed an earlier onset of convulsive seizure as the sign of oxygen poisoning and a significant elevated Lung Weight/Body Weight ratio. 5. Ammonium chloride at the dosage of 450mg per kg body weight had the most pronounced prophylactic effect on oxygen poisoning.

Fouling analysis and biomass distribution on a membrane bioreactor under low ratio COD/N

  • This paper deals with the influence of chemical oxygen demand to nitrogen ratio ((COD/N) ratio) on the performance of an membrane bioreactor. We aim at establishing relations between COD/N ratio, organisms' distribution and sludge properties (specific resistance to filtration (SRF) and membrane fouling). It is also essential to define new criteria to characterize the autotrophic microorganisms, as the measurements of apparent removal rates of ammonium seem irrelevant to characterize their specific activity. Two experiments (A and B) have been carried on a 30 L lab scale membrane bioreactor with low COD/N ratio (2.3 and 1.5). The obtained results clearly indicate the role of the COD/N ratio on the biomass distribution and performance of the membrane bioreactor. New specific criteria for characterising the autotrophic microorganisms activity, is also defined as the ratio of maximum ammonium rate to the specific oxygen uptake rate in the endogenous state for autotrophic bacteria which seem to be constant whatever the operating conditions are. They are about 24.5 to 23.8 $gN-NH_4{^+}/gO_2$, for run A and B, respectively. Moreover, the filterability of the biological suspension appear significantly lower, specific resistance to filtration and membrane fouling rate are less than $10^{14}m^{-2}$ and $0.07\;10^{12}m^{-1}.d^{-1}$ respectively, than in conventional MBR confirming the adv < antage of the membrane bioreactor functioning under low COD/N ratio.

화염의 정성적 당량비 측정을 위한 Plasma Diagnostics에 관한 연구 (Plasma spectroscopy aimed at quantifying the flame equivalence ratio)

  • The equivalence ratio is measured by LIBS(Laser-induced Breakdown spectroscopy) in hydrocarbon flame and high temperature (${\sim}3200^{\circ}C$) oxyhydrogen flame, where a stoichiometric mixture of hydrogen and oxygen is produced from water through electrolysis. The ratio of the hydrogen and oxygen (H/O) atomic lines intensities is used for quantitatively determining the quivalence ratio. laser energy is evaluated for determining the optimal condition for plasma diagnostics. The minimum laser energy for generating plasma in a laminar premixed hydrocarbon flame was about 70 mJ, whereas oxyhydrogen flame. consequently the irradiated spot of a lower density in high temperature oxyhydrogen flame gave rise to bigger plasma in size, thus limiting the spatial resolution of the LIBS measurement.

연료 조성에 따른 공연비 산정 (III) - 공연비 계산방식간의 상호 비교 - (Air Fuel Ratio and Calculation According to Fuel Composition (III) -Comparison of Various Calculation Method-)

  • This paper is the third of several companion papers which compare the method of Air-Fuel ratio determination. In the previous works, Eltinge chart was expanded to arbitrary fuel composition as a reference exhaust composition. The compensation of unburned hydrocarbon in Eltinge chart and comparison of Spindt and Eltinge method were also discussed. In addition to Eltinge and Spindt's one, however, there are many methods which calculate Air-Fuel ratio from exhaust emission. Among these methods, carbon balance and oxygen balance are widely used in practice. In some applications, linear formula from statistical method is being used in the field due to its simplicity and convenience. In this paper, these various methods are evaluated and compared with Eltinge results and new linear formula is proposed for the gasoline fuel. The results show that the corrected carbon balance equation has excellent agreement with Eltinge and Spindt's one. On the other hands, the oxygen-balanced formula has a limitation according to the mixture state and AFR. For gasoline fuel, newly proposed linear equation has good compatibility with Eltinge and Spindt up to AFR 17.
