Discharge characteristics of MgO layer prepared via aqueous solution process

  • In this study, an attempt was made to form magnesium oxide layer via aqueous solution route of salt precipitation process. A layer with flake morphology was formed from the process and various dopants were added during the forming process. The films formed were characterized using SEM, XRD, and cathodoluminescence measurement. In addition, the discharge characteristics were evaluated using panel tests. The results indicate that MgO film can be formed via the aqueous solution process successfully, of which characteristics are comparable to those of MgO film formed by e-beam evaporation process.

  • We prepared polystyrene-b-poly(2-vinyl pyridine) (PSb-P2VP) lamellar films which is hydrophobic block-hydrophilic polyelectrolyte block polymer have 57 kg/mol-b-57 kg/mol. The result of UV-visible absorption spectra supported that effect of poly(ethylene oxide) on the band gap tuning of PS-P2VP photonic gel like salt effect.

고온 리튬용융염계 산화분위기에서 Inconel 합금의 부식거동 (Corrosion Behavior of Inconel Alloys in a Hot Lithium Molten Salt under an Oxidizing Atmosphere)

  • The electrolytic reduction of spent oxide fuel involves the liberation of oxygen in a molten LiCl electrolyte, which results in a chemically aggressive environment that is too corrosive for typical structural materials. So, it is essential to choose the optimum material for the process equipment handling molten salt. In this study, corrosion behavior of Inconel 713LC, MA 754, X-750 and 718 in the molten salt $LiCl-Li_2O$ under an oxidizing atmosphere was investigated at $650^{\circ}C$ for $72{\sim}216$ hours. Inconel 713LC alloy showed the highest corrosion resistance among the examined alloys. Corrosion products of Inconel 713LC were $Cr_2O_3,\;NiCr_2O_4$ and NiO, and those of Inconel MA 754 were $Cr_2O_3\;and\;Li_2Ni_8O_{10}$ while $Cr_2O_3,\;NiFe_2O_4\;and\;CrNbO_4$ were produced from Inconel 718. Also, corrosion products of Inconel X-750 were found to be $Cr_2O_3,\;NiFe_2O_4\;and\;(Cr,Nb,Ti)O_2$. Inconel 713LC showed local corrosion behavior and Inconel MA 754, 718, X-750 showed uniform corrosion behavior.

  • 바닷물을 농축하면 농도가 높아짐에 따라서 뻘과 산화철, 석고, 소금, 미네랄, 용존광물이 순차적으로 석출된다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 해수의 물리적 특성을 이용하여, 해수 중의 용존성분들을 순차적으로 석출하여 회수할 수 있는 경제성 있는 새로운 진공열전달기술을 제안하였다. 진공상태하의 열전달특성에 관한 실험적 결과를 토대로 해수 종합자원화를 위한 공정을 다음과 같이 4-공정으로 구분하였다. 즉, (1)소금이 석출되기 시작하는 포화농도까지의 농축하는 단계, (2)소금의 결정화가 이루어지는 단계, (3)미네랄이 석출되는 단계, (4)잔류 용존금속 액체의 4-공정이다.

Effect of disulphide bond position on salt resistance and LPS-neutralizing activity of α-helical homo-dimeric model antimicrobial peptides

  • To investigate the effects of disulphide bond position on the salt resistance and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-neutralizing activity of ${\alpha}$-helical homo-dimeric antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), we synthesized an ${\alpha}$-helical model peptide ($K_6L_4W_1$) and its homo-dimeric peptides (di-$K_6L_4W_1$-N, di-$K_6L_4W_1$-M, and di-$K_6L_4W_1$-C) with a disulphide bond at the N-terminus, the central position, and the C-terminus of the molecules, respectively. Unlike $K_6L_4W_1$ and di-$K_6L_4W_1$-M, the antimicrobial activity of di-$K_6L_4W_1$-N and di-$K_6L_4W_1$-C was unaffected by 150 mM NaCl. Both di-$K_6L_4W_1$-N and di-$K_6L_4W_1$-C caused much greater inhibitory effects on nitric oxide (NO) release in LPS-induced mouse macrophage RAW 264.7 cells, compared to di-$K_6L_4W_1$-M. Taken together, our results indicate that the presence of a disulphide bond at the N- or C-terminus of the molecule, rather than at the central position, is more effective when designing salt-resistant ${\alpha}$-helical homo-dimeric AMPs with potent antimicrobial and LPS-neutralizing activities.

새우젓 숙성중 아질산염과 아스코르브산이 N-Nitrosamine의 생성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Nitrite and Ascorbic acid on N-Nitrosamine Formation during the Fermentation of Salt-fermented Small Shrimp)

  • 새우에 일정량의 식염, 아질산염, 질산염 및 아스코르브산을 첨가하여 숙성시키면서, NA생성에 미치는 영향에 대해 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. pH는 담금직후 8.1에서 숙성 110일 후 6.5로 산성화되었다. TMAO 질소는 숙성중 감소한 반면, TMA 및 DMA질소는 증가하였다. 아질산염 첨가구는 숙성중 NDMA함량이 증가하였고, 아스코르브 산첨가구는 NDMA생성이 억제되었다. 모델계실험 결과, 새우젓의 니트로소화 최적 pH는 3.5이었고, 아스코르브산은 NDMA생성을 크게 억제시킨 반면 thiocyanate는 촉진시켰다. 본 실험 결과, 새우젓 자체에는 NDMA가 거의 검출되지 않았으나, 질산염이나 아질산염의 함량이 많은 물질과 함께 섭취된다면 위내에서 NDMA가 생성될 가능성이 충분한 것으로 판단되었다.

Also, corrosion products of Nimonic 90 were found to be $Cr_2O_3$, $(Cr,Ti)_2O_3$, $LiAlO_2$ and $CoCr_2O_4$. Inconel 713LC showed local corrosion behavior and Inconel MA 754, Nimonic 80A, Nimonic 90 showed uniform corrosion behavior.
