  • Objective : To summarize and make a reference number of antihyperlipidemic herbal plants worldwide. Method : We surveyed all papers of antihyperlipidemic studies using herbal plants in Pubmed database as "hyperlipidemia AND herb", "hyperlipidemia AND herbal", etc. of Default Tag "Title". The number of papers, the formation of experiments, frequency of herbal plants studies, and main studies were analyzed. Result : Total 178 studies were finally selected. The number of papers were rapidly was increased since 1998. RCT studies were most papers(39.9%). Most studies were about plant sterol or plant stanol studies(78%). 10 papers studied about Herbal plants. Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge, Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, Alisma orientale(Sam.) Juz. and so forth were relatively studied much. Conclusion : This study produced an overview of worldwide antihyperlipidemic plants. This result may provide a valuable information for development of Korean herbal medicine against hyperlipidemia in the future.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this review is to overview the studies of acupuncture treatment for vulvodynia. Methods: In order to investigate the effect of acupuncture treatment for vulvodynia, we searched relevant studies in Pubmed, Cochrane, Oasis, KISS up to October 2018. After searching studies, we analyzed selected studies. Results: Six studies were included in this review. There were 3 randomized controlled studies and 3 before and after studies. The outcome measurement of vulvodynia was divided into pain, sexual function, and quality of life. The acupuncture treatment was effective in relieving vulvar pain, dyspareunia and improving quality of life. Conclusions: This study shows that acupuncture treatment is one of effective treatment methods for vulvodynia. Further large randomized placebo controlled trials will be needed.

  • Coronary restenosis is still regarded as Achilles' Hill of interventional cardiology despite relentless efforts of many investigators. Recent experimental and clinical studies have suggested that both gamma and beta radiation can reduce restenosis after angioplasty. Currently, intracoronary brachytherapy for the prevention of restenosis has become a new evolving treatment modality in interventional cardiology. This report discusses a physical aspect of gamma and beta radiation, initial clinical results and delivery systems used in intracoronary brachytherapy. We shall take a brief overview of methods and their advantages in intra-coronary brachytherapy. Future work should provide further insight for the best way of treating restenosis.

  • $^{68}Ga$ is a promising radionuclide for positron emission tomography (PET). It is a generator-produced ($^{68}Ge/^{68}Ga$-generator) radionuclide with a half-life of 68 min. The employment of $^{68}Ga$ for basic research and clinical applications is growing exponentially. Bifunctional chelators (BFCs) that can be efficiently radiolabeled with $^{68}Ga$ to yield complexes with good in vivo stability are needed. Given the practical advantages of $^{68}Ga$ in PET applications, gallium complexes are gaining increasing attention in biomedical imaging. However, new $^{68}Ga$-labeled radiopharmaceuticals that can replace $^{18}F$-labeled agents like [$^{18}F$]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) are needed. The majority of $^{68}Ga$-labeled derivatives currently in use consist of peptide agents, but the development of other agents, such as amino acid or nitroimidazole derivatives and glycosylated human serum albumin, is being actively pursued in many laboratories. Thus, the availability of new $^{68}Ga$-labeled radiopharmaceuticals with high impact is expected in the near future. Here, we present an overview of the different new classes of chelators for application in molecular imaging using $^{68}Ga$ PET.

  • Type I Interferons (IFNs) are potent antiviral cytokines that modulate both innate immunity and adaptive immunity. Type I IFNs are immediately induced by viral infection, and stimulate production of a broad range of gene products such as double-stranded RNA-activated protein kinase (PKR), 2' 5'-oligoadenylate synthetase (OAS)/RNaseL and Mx GTPases. These proteins inhibit viral replication in host cells. Type I IFNs, in turn, lead to antiviral state at early phase of viral infection. We provide an overview of the knowledge of IFN-inducible antiviral proteins conserved in vertebrates.

  • The finite nature of human existence leads many to search for meaning, which comes into sharper relief for those who are imminently facing death. Therefore, universal existential concerns such as the inevitability of death, existential isolation, loss of meaning, freedom, and dignity are inherent psychological issues in palliative care. Consequently, one of the critical challenges facing palliative care is how to address these issues effectively. This paper provides an overview of common themes of existential concerns and psychotherapeutic interventions to address existential distress among patients in palliative care.

  • Laser cleaning has begun to attract a considerable amount of interest recently as a new cleaning technique among scientists and engineers. The unique characteristics of laser cleaning are currently finding successful applications in industry, in medicine as well as in the world of art conservation. This paper takes an overview of the laser cleaning technique itself including basic principles and characteristics, and provides an account of current trends especially with regard to practical applications. Experience with its successful applications in various fields shows that laser cleaning may be about to emerge as a real alternative to conventional cleaning methods.

  • Both the enterically transmitted forms of viral hepatitis, hepatitis A and E are self-limited and do not cause chroni chepatitis. Chronic hepatitis occurs in patients with hepatitis B and C as well as in patients with chronic hepatitis D superimposed on chronic hepatitis B. Chronic hepatitis such as hepatitis B or C is important in terms of insurance underwriting and claims. General review of hepatitis B and C was performed in this article.

  • There are three different approaches to chemical risk assessment which will be considered in this paper. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) Cancer Risk Assessment includes some of the approaches used by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) effort is an evaluated database approach similar to that used in the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Criteria Documents and in the documentations prepared by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for the Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs) and those of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) for the Threshold Limit Values (TLVs). A third approach is used by the Committee on Toxicology.

  • Objectives: Inflammasomes are molecular platforms that are generated inside cytoplasmic compartments. The objective is to mediate immunological responses of the host to cell damage and infection. Caspase-1 is triggered by inflammasome to generate interleukin-1𝛽 (IL-1𝛽), an inflammatory cytokine, and pyroptosis, an inflammatory form of apoptosis. Methods: In the past two decades, scientists have uncovered several inflammasomes. The most research has been conducted on NLRP3 inflamamsomes, whose activity can be stimulated by a variety of induction factors. However, the unregulated activation of NLRP3 inflammasomes is also a role in the etiology of several human disorders. Previous research has demonstrated that NLRP3 inflammasomes have a significant role in the innate and acquired immune systems, as well as in the prevalence of joint illnesses such rheumatoid arthritis. Conclusion: Within the scope of this review, we will present a brief overview of the biological features of NLRP3 inflamamsomes as well as a description of the underlying mechanisms governing activation and regulation. In particular, we explore the function of inflammasomes in the development of rheumatoid arthritis as well as the promise of recently identified medicines that target inflamasomes.
