Ecological Niche Overlap and Competition between Quercus mongolica and Quercus dentata Under Soil Water Gradient

  • Q. mongolica and Q. dentata are representative species of deciduous forest communities in Korea and are known to be relatively resistant to soil drying condition among Korean oaks. This study attempted to elucidate the degree of competition and ecological niche characteristics of the two species by comparing the ecological responses of the two species according to soil moisture. Competition between Q. mongolica and Q. dentata was shown to be more intense under the conditions where moisture content was low than under the conditions where moisture content was high. As for the ecological niche overlaps of the two species for soil moisture, the structural traits of plant such as stem diameter overlapped the most, the traits of biomass such as petiole weight overlapped the least, and photosynthetic organ-related traits such as leaf width and length overlapped intermediately. When looking at the competition for soil moisture between the two species, it can be seen that Q. mongolica won in nine traits (leaf width length, leaf lamina length, leaf lamina weight, leaf petiole weight, leaf area, leaves weight, shoot weight, root weight, and plant weight) and Q. dentata won in the remaining seven traits (leaf petiole length, leaves number, stem length, stem diameter, stem weight, shoot length, and root length). Competition between the two species for the moisture environment of the soil was shown to be intense under the conditions where moisture content was low. The degree of competition between Q. dentata and Q. mongolica for soil moisture is high under the conditions where soil moisture content is low, and it is judged that Q. mongolica is more competitive for soil moisture than Q. dentata.

타 교과와의 중복성 분석에 기초한 중학교 가정교과의 선행조직자로서의 개념도 개발 - '자원의 관리와 환경'영역을 중심으로 - (A Development of Concept Map as an Advance Organizer Based on Analysis of the Overlapped and Connected Contents between Home Economics Textbooks and those of Other Subject Matters in the Middle School - Focused on 'Resource Management and Environment' -)

  • 본 연구는 가정과의 '자원의 관리와 환경' 영역을 중심으로 타 교과(도덕, 사회, 과학, 체육)와 중복되는 내용을 조사한 후 타 교과와의 중복된 내용을 가정교과에서 다룰 내용과 연결되도록 돕는 선행조직자를 개발하는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구내용에 따른 연구결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가정교과서의 '자원의 관리와 환경' 영역과 도덕, 사회, 과학, 체육교과서의 중복된 내용을 각각 분석하여 가정교과서의 '자원의 관리와 환경'영역에 맞추어 소단원별로 분류하여 제시하였다. '자원의 활용과 환경' 단원에서는 도덕교과와 중복되는 부분이 많았으며, 특히 자원의 절약 및 재활용, 환경보전 등의 태도 기르기와 중복되었다. '청소년의 일과 시간' 단원에서는 도덕, 과학교과에서 '일'이란 개념을 다룬다는 점에서 중복을 보였으나 도덕교과에서는 일의 개념정의에 치중하고 있고, 과학교과에서는 일의 개념에 대한 과학적 정의에 중점을 두고 있었다. 한편 가정교과에서는 과학적 작업방법을 습득하여 일을 합리적으로 관리하는 방법에 중점을 두고 있다. '청소년과 소비생활' 단원은 합리적인 소비생활이라는 주제를 다루는 도덕교과와, 합리적인 의사결정과 올바른 소비자의 역할을 제시한 사회교과와 중복 내용이 많았다. 그러나 가정교과에서는 개인으로서 청소년 소비자의 책임과 역할을 교육시켜 건전한 소비생활을 유지하는데 초점을 두고 올바른 소비행동을 위한 구체적인 실천방안들이 제시되어 있다. 둘째, 선행조직자로서 개념도를 개발하기 위하여 2학년 가정교과서 '자원의 관리와 환경'영역에 제시된 각 소단원의 학습 목표를 확인하고. 2학년 가정교과의 '자원의 관리와 환경' 영역과 타 교과(도덕, 사회, 과학, 체육)의 중복된 내용을 분석하고 이렇게 분석된 자료를 바탕으로 추출된 중복개념을 유의미한 개념들끼리 묶어서 개념도 작성방법에 따라 '자원의 관리와 환경'영역의 각 소단원별로 7개의 개념도를 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 선행조직자로서 개념도는 가정교과와 타 교과의 중복된 내용지도에 있어서 가정교과의 특성을 살릴 수 있는 차별화되고 흥미로운 수업을 하는데 도움을 줄 것이다. 즉, 가정교과에서 타 교과내용과 동일한 주제, 개념, 교육내용, 문제를 다루더라도 가정교과의 목적이나 성격에 알맞게 중복된 내용을 구조화하면 학생들에게는 의미 있는 학습이 될 것이다.

다중 관심영역 기반 이미지 검색 방법 (Multiple Region-of-Interest Based Image Retrieval Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 사용자가 관심을 갖는 다중 영역기반(ROI)으로 이미지를 검색하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 이미지를 블록으로 구분한 후 사용자가 선택한 다중 ROI와 겹치는 부분을 선택하고 해당 블록의 MPEG-7 도미넌트 컬러와 블록의 상대적 위치를 고려하여 유사도를 측정한다. 실험결과 제안한 방법은 전역 이미지 검색이나 동일한 위치의 블록만 비교하는 경우보다 높은 성능향상을 나타냈고, 다중 ROI의 경우 상대적 위치를 고려하는 방법이 다른 방법에 비해 우수한 성능을 나타냈다.

  • As a preliminary step toward the development of a multipurpose electrostatic separator for agricultural use, this study investigated the effect of moisture level, geometrical characteristics and the electric field strength of a charging device on the electrostatic charging of brown rice, unhulled paddy, small stones and broken rice that are produced during the milling process. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Average electrostatic charge per unit mass of paddy is greater than that of brown rice. 2. Charge per unit mass of rice kernel increases linearly with moisture content and electric field strength of the charging device, presenting no correlations with length or thickness of rice kernel. 3. Frequency distributions in electrostatic charge per unit mass of paddy and brown rice kernels indicated that the portion, not overlapped, ranged from 10 to 29% with Japonica rice and from 32 to 49% with Indica rice. 4. The difference in moisture content between paddy and brown rice must be over 6%, if they are to be electrostatically separated to over 95%. 5. Theoretical portions of brown rice to be separated from a mixture primarily by the electrostatic charge and secondarily by the length or by the thickness were 95~100% and 27~76%, respectively. 6. Frequency distribution of electrostatic charge for broken kernels overlapped that of paddy and brown rice, which the small stones didn't.

Modality Conversion For Media QoS

  • We present modality conversion as an effective means for QoS management. We show that modality conversion, in combination with content scaling, would give a wider range of adaptation to support QoS at media level. Here, we consider modality conversion with respect to resource constraint and human factor. To represent modality conversion as well as content scaling, we present the overlapped content value (OCV) model that relates the content value of different modalities with resources. The specification of user preference on modality conversion is divided into qualitative and quantitative levels. The user preference is then integrated into the OCV model so that modality conversion correctly reflects the user's wishes. For the conversion of multiple contents, an optimization problem is formulated and solved by dynamic programming. The experiments show that the proposed approach is efficient to be applied in practice.

국내 재배 케나프 섬유를 이용한 바이오복합재의 제조와 물리적 특성 (Preparation and Physical Properties of Bio-Composites Using Kenaf Cultivated in Korea)

  • This study examines the preparation and characterization of Kenaf/Starch bio-composites used as filler and a matrix. Kenaf was cultivated in Chung-ju in Korea, and the Kenaf/Starch bio-composites were prepared under various conditions of kenaf fiber length (1-5 centimeters); the content of Kenaf fiber was 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, and the number of composite layers (one-four). Depending on the formation conditions of Kenaf/Starch composites, the physical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, and the young modulus of the Kenaf/Starch composites were measured. In addition, we measured the SEM cross-section images in order to investigate the interfacial adhesion properties of fractured surfaces. As a result, the tensile strength and elongation of the Kenaf/Starch composites were highest in the molding conditions of a hot press at $120^{\circ}C$, 3000PSI of pressure, and for 30 minute periods. The result of measuring the physical properties of the composites manufactured by varying the content of Kenaf fiber when the content of Kenaf fiber was 30% as well the physical properties of the Kenaf/Starch composite was found desirable. It was found that the physical properties improved with more overlapped layers in the composites manufactured by varying the number of overlapped layers. Through the measuring of the SEM cross-section images, we found that the interfacial adhesion state between the filler and matrix of Kenaf/Starch composite greatly affects the physical properties.

제 7차 교육과정의 개정 방향 탐색을 위한 한국과 일본의 기술·가정 교육과정 비교 (Comparison of Technology & Home Economics Curriculum between Korea and Japan for Exploring of Revision Direction of the 7th Curriculum)

  • The purpose of the study were to analyze of the curriculum and textbooks for technology & home economics in the 7th national curriculum, and to suggest the revision direction of them. This study was carried out through literature research of national curriculum and textbooks of Korea and Japan, respectively. The findings of the study were as follows: First, we have three textbooks which are technology & home economics 1, technology & home economics 2, technology & home economics 3 for each grade of middle school student, but one technology textbook and one home economics textbook may be better for middle school student to reduce the learning content following revised curriculum. Second, as an aspect of learning content between technology textbook and computer textbook, the computer and information volume is too much overlapped, which is also the same result at the survey research report of KICE. Therefore, the computer content of technology & home economics textbooks must be considered to reduce according to follow research.

Compositional Analysis of Naphtha by FT-Raman Spectroscopy

  • Three different chemical compositions of total paraffin, total naphthene, total aromatic content in naphtha have been successfully analyzed using FT-Raman spectroscopy. Partial least squares (PLS) regression has been utilized to develop calibration models for each composition from Raman spectral bands. The PLS calibration results showed Blood correlation with those of gas chromatography (GC). Using PLS regression, the spectral information related to each composition has been successfully extracted from highly overlapped Raman spectra of naphtha.

네트워크 중복을 이용한 유튜브 채널의 성공 전략 (The Successful Strategies for YouTube Channels Using the Network Overlap)

  • Purpose Online platform companies can increase the spread of content by communicating with users who have diverse preferences through social networks. Previous studies show the mixed effect on the network overlap, and there was a limited examinations for the underlying mechanism. This study expects high academic and practical implications that can be provided by studying on the user's viewership network. The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of network overlap on the users' viewership for creators of user-generated content in YouTube. We explain the direct and in-direct effects through the content sharing and the valence of user ratings. Design/methodology/approach The data contains 45 channels and 4,085 video clips from YouTube. We control the effect of the categories, channel characteristics, and vide clip characteristics on the viewership. PROCESS macro were used to analyze the direct and in-direct effects of network overlap. Findings The analysis results showed that the network overlap directly affect on the users' viewership. The variable decreases the moderators (i.e., content sharing and the valence of user ratings). This result implies that the users can not satisfy their need for uniqueness which is achieved by content sharing and rating in the overlapped network.

방송통신 융합서비스를 위한 콘텐츠 적응 기술

  • 방송과 통신이 융합하는 새로운 환경의 도래에 따라 사용자에게 불편함 없이 언제 어디서나 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 접근(universal) multimedia access)하게 할 수 있는 기술적 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기술들 중에서 가장 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있는 콘텐츠 적응(content adaptation)에 대해 논한다. 특히 현재의 MPEG-21 표준에서의 콘텐츠 적응에 대한 동향을 살펴보고, 콘텐츠 적응에 속하는 중요 기술들 중에 비디오 트랜스코딩(video transcoding)과 모 달 리 티 변 환 (modality conversion)에 대한 일반적인 사항과 우리의 연구 결과들을 전개하고자 한다. 비디오 트랜스코딩 관점에서는 최적의 트랜스코팅 연산 조합을 찾는 문제에 있어서 비트율-왜곡(rate-distortion) 모델(model)에 기초한 방법과 의미적 개념(semantic concept)이 판단에 미치는 영향에 대해 논한다. 모달리티 면환 관점에서는 최적의 모달리티 변환 경계를 찾기 위한 중첩 콘텐츠 값(overlapped content value, OCV) 모델을 논하고 실질적인 모델링 예제를 통해 OCV 모델의 효율성을 보인다.
