This study investigated the effects of the number of washes and alkaline treatments ($NaHCO_3$ concentrations) and the concentration of potato starch on the quality of fish meat paste products prepared from sand lance Ammodytes personatus Girard. We found significantly (P<0.05) higher ratings for the all textural parameters (hardness, brittleness, elasticity, and cohesiveness) of the sand-lance meat paste products (SLMPPs) that were washed three times with a 0.5% $NaHCO_3$ concentration. We determined that an 8% concentration of potato starch leads to the best textural properties in SLMPPs. As the amount of potato starch was increased, the redness values of SLMPPs decreased significantly (P<0.05), but the differences in the sensory evaluation parameters (texture, flavor, taste, and overall acceptability) between the SLMPPs were not significant.

The visual preference of interiors focusing on lobbies was investigated as a function of six predictor variable on the base of the Informational Approach: complexity, coherence, mystery, spaciousness, brightness, plant. The Common Fcator Analysis of preference ratings yielded six common factors which helped to account for 22.3 percent of the variance in preference response to the scene. Among these factors, the factor defined as 'bright with many plants' was the most preferred and the factor defined as 'simple and closed' was the least preferred. The environmental attributes reflected in six groups of scenes were colour, resting place, window and the six predictors. In the commercial building scenes, complexity, spaciousness, coherence, brightness and mystery out of six predictors accounted for 74 percent of preference variance as the significant contributors. In the business building scenes, three predictors which are brightness, complexity, spaciousness accounted for 84 percent of preference variance. 'The amount of plant' not only influenced the preference indirectly through the intervening variable, complexity, but also was moderately correlated with brightness. The overall pattern of the resulted confirmed the usefulness of the Informational Approach to predict the preference in interiors focusing on lobbies.

One of the key technology in the EP is high voltage pulse power supply, which affects the performance of the overall system. In this study, high voltage micro pulse power supply for the pilot EP is developed. The power supply has a de source and a pulse one. The ratings of the dc and pulse source are 60kV and 70kV respectively.

The influence of parental perspectives about community life on children's social behavior was studied with dyads of 140 children 3-6 years of age. The children's teachers rated children's behavior on rule-keeping and responsible behavior. Teacher ratings were compared with the 6 sub-factors of parents' perspectives on community life. Father's overall perspectives about community life was correlated with child's responsible behavior but not with rule-keeping behavior. However, father's autonomy and attitude towards community life was correlated to both behaviors. Age and gender differences in children's rule-keeping and responsible behaviors showed that these behaviors increased with age and girls showed more frequent rule-keeping and responsible behaviors than boys.

This paper presents a novel 3-phase IGBT module called the SPM (Smart Power Module). This is a new design developed to provide a very compact, low cost, high performance and reliable motor drive system. Several distinct design concepts were used to achieve the highly integrated functionality in a new cost-effective small package. An overall description to the SPM is given and actual application issues such as electrical characteristics, circuit configurations, thermal performance and power ratings are discussed

The condition of the vehicular bridge network in New York City, as represented by ratings obtained during biennial inspections is reviewed over a period of three decades. Concurrently, the bridges comprising the network are considered as networks of structural elements whose condition defines the overall bridge condition according to New York State assumptions. A knowledge-based matrix of assessments is used in order to determine each element's vulnerability and impact within the network of an individual structure and the network of City bridges. In both networks expansion deck joints emerge as the weak link. Typical joint failures are illustrated. Bridge management options for maintenance, preservation, rehabilitation and replacement are examined in the context of joint performance.
