Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the sexual life and sexual life satisfaction of elderly people. Method: The participants were 181 elders over 65 years of age. Data were collected from February 10 to December 15, 2007 by interviews and questionnaires. Results: Of the respondents 17.1% still had sex in their lives but sexual satisfaction was less than that of middle-aged adults. Further, 31.8% of the elders reported no experience of sex over the past 10-19 years. The reasons for not having sex were 'no sexual partner' or 'no sexual desire'. Finally, 27.2% wanted to have a date. The main reason for dating was to relieve loneliness and the reason for not dating was 'good as it is', 'having date is shameful'. The level of satisfaction with sexual life was 2.71. Satisfaction with sexual life was higher for elders who had a spouse and for elders who still had sex. Conclusion: This study provides bases on the usefulness of various nursing intervention programs to enhance the quality of life through better understanding of the sexual life and sexual life satisfaction of elders.
This study made a final analysis of 184 people in their 40s and 50s living in South Gyeongsang Province to identify their relevance to oral health education experiences, oral health beliefs, oral efficacy, oral hygiene product use practices, and quality of life. When there was educational experience in oral efficacy and practice of oral hygiene product use according to oral health education, oral efficacy, oral hygiene product use practice and quality of life was high.In the relationship between oral health belief and oral efficacy, oral hygiene product use practice and quality of life, we could see that oral efficacy and quality of life were low when sensitivity and severity were high among oral health belief, and that oral efficacy and quality of life were high when importance, disability, and benefits were high. Middle age based on oral health care the results over the continuing and developers to develop customized education programs for different target for a longer term recurrent training and future.A Study on the Application through the program will be needed.
This study aims at surveying how Koreans look upon and prepare for the age of longevity("age of 100 years") drawing near at hand, analyzing factors affecting such a perception and behavior. To this end, a telephone survey was launched for 1200 persons sampled to evenly comprise the young, middle-aged, and elderly groups. Our findings indicate that more Koreans looked upon the upcoming "age of 100 years" as a 'disaster' rather than a 'blessing.' The sense of combined uneasiness over the aged life being further elongated while they are unprepared for it, anxiety over maintaining health and so forth came into play. However, the better a person is prepared by way of health management, savings for retirement, preparation for leisure activities and employment for the later life, the more positively he or she looked upon the "age of 100 years". An analysis by group indicates that women rather than men, the elderly rather than the young, the less educated rather than the highly educated, the low-income bracket rather than the high-income bracket looked upon the "age of 100 years" more negatively. Under such circumstances, it is suggested that the nation's social system tailored to a life expectancy of 80 years should be readjusted, tailored to a 'longevity paradigm' and that to this end social systems should be reoriented toward the direction where 'healthy aging' and 'active aging' are fully supported.
Background: Integrated management of general, mental, and oral health is necessary to improve an individual's quality of life. This study aimed to identify the effects of mental and oral health behaviors on metabolic syndrome. Methods: A total of 4,227 Korean adults aged 20 years or older were selected as study subjects using raw data from the first year (2019) of the 8th period of the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). A complex sample chi-square test and a complex sample logistic regression analysis were performed using the PASW Statistics ver. 18.0 program. Results: The effect on metabolic syndrome was significantly higher in male than in 1.833 times in male, 2.914 times in 30~49 years old, and 3.855 times in 50~64 years old, and 3.929 times in people over 65 years old compared to 20~29 years old, and compared to those with a college degree or higher, those with a middle school degree or lower are 2.116 times, those with lower income levels are 1.507 times higher, those with middle-lower are 1.359 times higher, those with middle-high are 1.401 times. Compared to non-smokers, smokers were 1.570 times higher than non-smokers and compared to those without speech problem and chewing difficulty, they were 1.717 times and 1.397 times higher, respectively and 1.973 times higher in those with 0~1 brushing times per day. Mental health did not affect prevalence of metabolic syndrome. Conclusion: It is necessary to improve maintain a healthy lifestyle to lower the risk of metabolic syndrome. It is necessary to establish effective dental hygiene customized education and an efficient health management system at the national level that can induce improvement of oral health behavior for the prevention and management of metabolic syndrome.

This study was to performed to assess social factors and physical health status. The subjects of the study were 103 elderly people of age over 85 years living in Ganghwa-gun area. The method of this research was based on the interview-survey with questionnaire. Chi-square test was the main data analysis method. The subject group was composed of 36 males and 67 females, the average age being 91.0 $\pm$ 3.2 years old for the males and 91.1 $\pm$ 3.4 years old for the females. The aged average height and weight were 161.0 $\pm$ 7.9 cm and 54.6 $\pm$ 7.8 kg in males, 141.0 $\pm$ 8.2 cm and 42.2 $\pm$ 7.9 kg in females which were lower than the Korean average standard but the mean BMIs of both male and female showed normal range. Their level of education was lower and they tended to be religious. The aged population might be economically poor. Their level of living standards tended to have been lower-middle and lower class. The mean age of their parents' death were 64.3 $\pm$ 17.2 years in males, 59.0 $\pm$ 14.9 years in females for the father and 70.9 $\pm$ 15.5 years in males, 66.8 $\pm$ 16.6 years in females for the mother. The rate of living together with their family or spouse in the female aged was $83.2\%$ higher than in the male aged. They tended to have engaged in hobbies that require less movement. Of the kinds of hobby, 'TV watching ($47.8\%$ in male and $44.9\%$ in female) was the highest. Ratios of the drinking and the smoking elderly were $30.6\%$, $25.0\%$ in male and $7.5\%$, $18.8\%$ in female but they tended to have never drunken and smoked. Of the subjects, $42.9\%$ spend 8$\~$9 hours for sleeping in male and $35.8\%$ spend 10 hours for sleeping in female. They tended to have not done any particular health behavior. The most common diseases were digestive disease in male, arthritis and hypertension in female. Most elderly males ($47.3\%$) and females ($61.2\%$) had 1$\~$2 diseases.

As the number of family living alone is expected to soar due to a change in socio-demographics like divorce, more middle-aged women returning to work, homes become smaller and so on. In addition to in 2020 these people will be increase so that 85 percent of the Koreans compose elderly living alone who is over 65. This study aims at developing a sharing-typed elderly people-centered rental model which is accessible in the community integration dimension as an alternative and finding out theirconscious, their need about residence. and we need to check about their major requirements on improvement step by step. so that we suggest the desirable way on the existing multi house. The model provides benefits in the social, economical and pragmatic dimensions as the families living alone get together and living with others, Particularly, as a residence model which reduces a psychological loneliness and at the same time enables the elderly to continue to live a life in the community while they live together with other people, this model could be a strategy which supports the "Aging in Place." This study is in progress via small group workshop which debate gradually about special subject with similar group member. So we can find the residence's preference on living environment in various condition and the member can imagine freely on their future living arrangement by giving the various informations which can be proceed in future. The workshop proceed three times. at the first workshop, we're check their living environment and satisfaction level. and second time we give the knowledge about shared-type rental house then discuss about the model. and last time we're listen to the residence's opinion.

Purpose: This study sought to investigate the perceptions and service needs of tele-physical therapy among people in their 50s and older in Korea. Methods: Subjects were inducted during a 14-day survey of 104 people over the age of 50 in Korea and were administered a questionnaire consisting of 14 questions about their general characteristics and another 14 questions about tele-physical therapy. Results: The general characteristics of the participants (participants' gender, whether they were single or married, number of cohabiting families, final education, major, job, physical therapy experience, tele-physical therapy experience, presence of a physical therapy worker among relatives, subjective health awareness, chronic disease conditions if any, frequency of drinking, and smoking) were investigated. Among the perceptions of the subjects about tele-physical therapy, the score of 'awareness' was the lowest, and that of 'resolving restrictions on hospital visits' was the highest. In an analysis of the correlation between perceptions and needs, there was a significant correlation with factors other than 'awareness' and 'information protection' factors. The regression analysis of necessity and factors revealed that the awareness of necessity increased as the intention to use, health improvement, and time efficiency improved. Conclusion: These findings presented the perception and necessity of tele-physical therapy for adults in their 50s or older in Korea. These results will help confirm the demand for tele-physical therapy in this age group in Korea and the need to improve the available physical therapy services.
The present study showed WHtR to be significantly better than BMI and WC for prediction of metabolic-related diseases in the middle-aged and older people in Korea, based on Bayesian ordered probit model analysis. The variations of WC, BMI and WHtR were compared according to the number of metabolic-related diseases such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, stroke, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris and diabetes. It was found that the three measures showed the similar variation except a very few extreme cases for age less than 40. For subjects over the age of 40, WC was not significant and WHtR gave more influence in greater variability than BMI on the number of metabolic diseases. Also, the rate of change for WHtR was higher than for BMI as the number of metabolic-related diseases increased. Specifically, the difference of the marginal effect of WHtR between no disease and only one disease was 1.81 times higher than that of BMI. Moreover, it was pointed out that the threshold value of WHtR for obesity should be considered differently by age.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the preferences for the physical features of senior congregate housing. The survey was conducted among middle-aged people in their fifties, who lived in Seoul, using the systematic random sampling method. The data were collected from November 3, 2003 to November 14, 2003 and the final subjects consisted of 498 respondents. Various statistical methods such as frequency, mean, cross tabulation, t-test, factor analysis, and multiple regression were used in this study. The results of this study were as follows. Firstly, most of the respondents preferred 55 to $70m^2$ sized individual units and they rarely wanted smaller units of less than $35m^2$. Individual units of one or two bedrooms were also preferred by future users. Small towns were preferred to large complex. For housing type, they preferred row houses or single detached houses to high-rise apartments. Secondly, there were no significant statistical differences between income and the preference of the physical features. From the results, we concluded that senior congregate housing should be developed not only in accordance with the users' preferences but also over a certain minimum physical quality level, regardless of the users' income.
This study was aimed to evaluate the relation of food hygiene knowledge and practices of the contract foodservice employees and housewives. The employees were mainly sampled using convenience sampling method and surveyed through the questionnaire. The SPSS 12.0 was used for statistical analysis: data frequency, t-test, one-way ANOVA. The scores of the contract foodservice employees were higher in personal hygiene and time-temperature control from hygiene knowledge category and in cleaning & sanitizing, and time-temperature control from hygiene practice category than those of housewives. The level of hygiene knowledge improved with continuous education, and people aged over 51 year showed better score in hygiene practices than those of age 20${\sim}$35. The score of hygiene knowledge or hygiene practices were higher in the group who graduated front middle or high school than the group who had MS degree, because they might have the good hygiene habit or behavior from the continuous education about the food hygiene.
