Property and Surface Morphology of Copper Foil on the Current Density (구리 박막의 표면형상과 물성에 대한 전류밀도 영향)

  • This study examined the effect of current density on the surface morphology and physical properties of copper plated on a polyimide (PI) film. The morphology, crystal structure, and electric characteristics of the electrodeposited copper foil were examined by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and a four-point probe, respectively. The surface roughness, crystal growth orientation and resistivity was controlled using current density. Large particles were observed on the surface of the copper layer electroplated onto a current density of 25 mA/$cm^2$. However, a uniform surface and lower resistivity were obtained with a current density of 10 mA/$cm^2$. One of the important properties of FCCL is the flexibility of the copper foil. High flexibility of FCCL was obtained at a low current density rather than a high current density. Moreover, a reasonable current density is 20 mA/$cm^2$ considering the productivity and mechanical properties of copper foil.

Effect of Al Doping on the Properties of ZnO Nanorods Synthesized by Hydrothermal Growth for Gas Sensor Applications

  • In the present investigation we show the effect of Al doping on the length, size, shape, morphology, and sensing property of ZnO nanorods. Effect of Al doping ultimately leads to tuning of electrical and optical properties of ZnO nanorods. Undoped and Al-doped well aligned ZnO nanorods are grown on sputtered ZnO/SiO2/Si (100) pre-grown seed layer substrates by hydrothermal method. The molar ratio of dopant (aluminium nitrate) in the solution, [Al/Zn], is varied from 0.1 % to 3 %. To extract structural and microstructural information we employ field emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques. The prepared ZnO nanorods show preferred orientation of ZnO <0001> and are well aligned vertically. The effects of Al doping on the electrical and optical properties are observed by Hall measurement and photoluminescence spectroscopy, respectively, at room temperature. We observe that the diameter and resistivity of the nanorods reach their lowest levels, the carrier concentration becomes high, and emission peak tends to approach the band edge emission of ZnO around 0.5% of Al doping. Sensing behavior of the grown ZnO nanorod samples is tested for H2 gas. The 0.5 mol% Al-doped sample shows highest sensitivity values of ~ 60 % at 250 ℃ and ~ 50 % at 220 ℃.

Basic Study for Development of Magneto-rheological Elastomer (자기장 응답형 엘라스토머 개발을 위한 기초연구)

  • Magneto-rheological elastomers (MREs) were manufactured by incorporation of magnetic responsible powder (MRP) into natural rubber and silicone rubber. The optimum loading amounts of MRP was 30 vol.% and the natural rubber based MRE (NR-MRE) showed better mechanical property than that of silicone rubber based MRE (S-MRE). However, the modulus shift ratio caused by S-MRE, measured by Self-modified Electromagnet Applied Fast Fourier Transform Analyser (SEFFTA), was higher than that of NR-MRE. The modulus shift ratio caused by NR-MRE was 10%, while the modulus shift ratio caused by S-MRE was 35.7%. The modulus shift ratio could be improved by orienting the magnetic direction of MRP before crosslinking the MRE. The degree of orientation of MRP was analyzed using SEM.

3D Shape Descriptor with Interatomic Distance for Screening the Molecular Database (분자 데이터베이스 스크리닝을 위한 원자간 거리 기반의 3차원 형상 기술자)

  • In the computational molecular analysis, 3D structural comparison for protein searching plays a very important role. As protein databases have been grown rapidly in size, exhaustive search methods cannot provide satisfactory performance. Because exhaustive search methods try to handle the structure of protein by using sphere set which is converted from atoms set, the similarity calculation about two sphere sets is very expensive. Instead, the filter-and-refine paradigm offers an efficient alternative to database search without compromising the accuracy of the answers. In recent, a very fast algorithm based on the inter-atomic distance has been suggested by Ballester and Richard. Since they adopted the moments of distribution with inter-atomic distance between atoms which are rotational invariant, they can eliminate the structure alignment and orientation fix process and perform the searching faster than previous methods. In this paper, we propose a new 3D shape descriptor. It has properties of the general shape distribution and useful property in screening the molecular database. We show some experimental results for the validity of our method.

Triangular Mesh Segmentation Based On Surface Normal (표면 법선 기반의 삼각형 메쉬 영역화 기법)

  • This paper presents an algorithm for segmentation of 3D triangular mesh data. The proposed algorithm uses iterative merging of adjacent triangle pairs based on the orientation of triangles. The surface is segmented into patches, where each patch has a similar normal property Thus, each region can be approximated to planar patch and its boundaries have perceptually important geometric information of the entire mesh model. The experimental results show that the Proposed algorithm is peformed efficiently.

Growth of vertically aligned Zinc Oxide rod array on patterned Gallium Nitride epitaxial layer (패턴된 GaN 에피층 위에 ZnO 막대의 수직성장)

  • Vertically aligned Zinc Oxide rod arrays were grown by the self-assembly hydrothermal process on the GaN epitaxial layer which has a same lattice structure with ZnO. Zinc nitrate and DETA solutions are used in the hydrothermal process. The $(HfO_2)$ thin film was deposited on GaN and the patterning was made by the photolithography technique. The selective growth of ZnO rod was achieved with the patterned GaN substrate. The fabricated ZnO rods are single crystal, and have grown along hexagonal c-axis direction of (002) which is the same growth orientation of GaN epitaxial layer. The density and the size of ZnO rod can be controlled by the pattern. The optical property of ordered array of vertical ZnO rods will be discussed in the present work.

Facial-feature Detection in Color Images using Chrominance Components and Mean-Gray Morphology Operation (색도정보와 Mean-Gray 모폴로지 연산을 이용한 컬러영상에서의 얼굴특징점 검출)

  • In detecting human faces in color images, additional geometric computation is often necessary for validating the face-candidate regions having various forms. In this paper, we propose a method that detects the facial features using chrominance components of color which do not affected by face occlusion and orientation. The proposed algorithm uses the property that the Cb and Cr components have consistent differences around the facial features, especially eye-area. We designed the Mean-Gray Morphology operator to emphasize the feature areas in the eye-map image which generated by basic chrominance differences. Experimental results show that this method can detect the facial features under various face candidate regions effectively.

A Geometric Proof on Shortest Paths of Bounded Curvature (제한된 곡률을 갖는 최단경로에 대한 기하학적 증명)

  • A point-wise car-like robot moving in the plane changes its direction with a constraint on turning curvature. In this paper, we consider the problem of computing a shortest path of bounded curvature between a prescribed initial configuration (position and orientation) and a polygonal goal, and propose a new geometric proof showing that the shortest path is either of type CC or CS (or their substring), where C specifies a non-degenerate circular arc and S specifies a non-degenerate straight line segment. Based on the geometric property of the shortest path, the shortest path from a configuration to a polygonal goal can be computed in linear time.

Fabrication and Characterization of Direct-Patternable PZT Film Prepared by Photochemical Metal-Organic Deposition (광화학증착법에 의한 직접패턴 PZT 박막의 제조 및 특성)

  • The ferroelectric properties of UV irradiated and non-irradiated PZT films prepared via photochemical metal-organic deposition using photosensitive precursors were characterized. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy showed that complete removal of organic groups was possible through UV exposure of the spin-coated PZT precursor films at room temperature. The measured remnant polarization values of UV-irradiated and non-irradiated PZT films after annealing at $650^{\circ}C$ were 29 and $23\;{\mu}C/cm^2$, respectively. The UV irradiation was found to be effective for the enhancement of the <111> growth orientation and ferroelectric property of PZT film and in the direct patterning in the fabrication of micro-patterned systems without dry etching.

Study on the Preparation of Alginic Acid-PMMA Graft Polymer and the Surface Modification of Montmorillonite with the Graft Polymer (Alginic Acid-PMMA Graft Polymer의 합성 및 이를 Coupling제로 한 Montmorillonite 표면의 개질화에 관한 연구)

  • Graft polymers of alginic acid-PMMA, different in composition and Mv of branched PMMA, were prepared by emulsion graft polymerization at various MMA concentrations. In aqueous dispersion solution, the adsorption of graft polymer on the montmorillonite was carried out to modify the surface property of powder, and the adsorption of PMMA in organic solvents (acetone, benzene) on the modified surface of powder were observed. The results obtained were as follows. 1. In emulsion graft polymerization of MMA on the sodium alginate in aqueous solution, SA conversion, MMA conversion and % grafting were increased with increasing MMA concentration where as graft efficiency was decreased. 2. The adsorption amount of graft polymer was increased with the elevation of temperature and the increased of dispersion concentration and with the increase of branched PMMA composition of graft polymer. 3. In organic solvent, the adsorption of PMMA on the surface modified particle was proceeded by the orientation along the stretched branched PMMA of adsorbed graft polymer which is in radial direction to the particle surface. 4. The adsorbed amount of PMMA was increased as the temperature and concentration of PMMA solution, the branching of adsorbed graft polymer and the solvency of solvent were increased.
