Objectives : This study was performed to evaluate the effect of occulsal plane balancing therapy on pain control without another therapy. Methods : This clinical study was carried out in 6 cases of patients which had neck and shoulder pain. In this study we treated the patients by balancing therapy of occulsal plane using paper. We measured Visual Analogue Scale(V.A.S.) for pain intensity, Range of Motion(R.O.M.) and difference of thermographic temperature between pain site and the opposite before and 15 minutes after treatment and analyzed the change of variables. Also, we analyzed the correlation among hypomovable site of neck rotaion(HS), pain site(PS) and thick site of paper(TS). Results : 1. The average of skin temperature was decreased from $0.45{\pm}0.11$ to $0.24{\pm}0.13$ significantly(p<0.05). 2. The average of V.A.S was decreased from $10.00{\pm}0.00$ to $3.83{\pm}0.99$ significantly(p<0.05). 3. In the correlation analysis among HS, PS and TS, there is negative correlation between HS and TS, but there was no statistical significance. Conclusions : In the study, the balancing therapy of occulsal plane warrants further investigation in the change of skin temperature and R.O.M. of the joint, pain control.

Jeon-Kwang(癲狂) is a term of oriental medicine, corresponding to schizophrenia. In detail, Jeon-Kwang is divided into Jeon(癲) and Kwang(狂). The symptoms of Jeon have silence, cry and giggle alternately, muttering, and so on. And those of Kwang have quick-tempered, absurd remarks, slander, and so on. We expierenced a patient who was suffered from headache, auditory hallucination, insomnia, anxiety, delirium, memory impairment and, cognitive disorder. In this case, we gave a diagnosis of Jeon-Kwang(狂) and, treated the patient with acupuncture therapy and sa-ha(瀉下) therapy (Dangguiseunggi-tang, Hwangryunsasim-tang). Sa-ha therapy is an oriental medicine therapy about wha(火) syndrom such as constipation, hydrodipsomania, red face. After three weeks of oriental medicine treatment, the chief complaints were considerablely reduced. This suggested that sa-ha herbal treatment have an effect on psychopathy.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects and limitations of cognitive & behavioral therapy that applied to the social phobia. In this case, a female patient, 25 old, who had been treated distantly by her friends, was trained to catch her dysfunctional belief and maladaptive automatic thoughts. In this training, we used homework and counselling for 2months. And we diagnosed her state as SimDamHeoGup(心膽虛怯), so we used acupuncture treatment and herbs, for example HaChulBoShimTang(夏朮補心湯) and GuiBiWonDamTang(歸脾溫膽湯). In result, she could recover social relationship slowly. Conclusionally, cognitive & behavioral therapy can be very effective methods to treat social phobia, because patients with social phobia have maladaptive automatic thoughts, based on dysfunctional beliefs like 'I'm infelicitous' or 'I'm ineffective'.

A literature study on cancer therapy of warm-hot oriental medicine was done, and the results were as follows. 1. In oriental medicine, oncogens are six exopathogens, seven modes of emotion, overwork, pathogenic factors, and especially related with pathologic cold situation. 2. There are many capillaries in tuomr, and because temperature of inner space of tumor is higher than normal organization. Tumor cell has a character which is weak for high temperature. 3. Warm-hot herb drugs have effects of dissipating mass, warming kidney to reinforce yang and dispering, so it has a function of suppressing tumor as well as improving immunity in cancer therapy. 4. In traditional medical books, main prescriptions of cancer therapy are xinzhiyinyanggongjiwan(新製陰陽攻積丸), qianjinxiaoshiwan(千金硝石丸), feiqiwan(肥氣丸), xibenwan(息賁丸), fuliangwan(伏梁丸), beiqiwan, bentunwan(賁豚丸), zengsunwujiwan(增損五積丸), and these are composed of warm-hot herb drugs. 5. In current, the study of warm-hot drugs is progressed in immunological capacity, anti-tumor activity, stimulating bone marrow and regulating hormone secretion. It will be expected that advanced study of these must be accomplished in cancer patients.

Objectives : This study was accomplished to investigate the effects of venesection with cupping therapy at Jeonjung($CV_{17}$) on the heart rate variability(HRV) in healthy adults. And based on that, we tried to find out how venesection with cupping therapy at Jeonjung($CV_{17}$) affects the activity and the balance of the autonomic nervous system. Methods : We investigated on 60 healthy volunteers consisted of 30 subjects in venesection with cupping therapy group and 30 subjects in control group. The study was established by randomized trial. venesection with cupping therapy was applied at Jeonjung($CV_{17}$) for 10 minutes in venesection with cupping therapy group. No treatment was executed in control group. We measured HRV 3 times : First, baseline measurement and two more times after treatment in venesection with cupping therapy group(after rest in control group). The SPSS 12.0 for Windows was used to analyze the data by paired t-test(in both group), independent-test(between the groups) and Chi-square test(between the sexs). Results : 1. In venesection with cupping therapy group, SDNN, Ln(TP), Ln(LF), Normalized LF, and LF/HF ratio increased significantly. Normalized HF decreased significantly. Mean HRT, RMSSD, PSI, Ln(HF), and Ln(VLF) were not affected. 2. In control group, Ln(HF) decreased significantly. Mean HRT, SDNN, RMSSD, PSI, Ln(TP), Ln(LF), Ln(VLF), Normalized LF, Normalized HF, and LF/HF ratio were not affected. Conclusions : This study suggests that venesection with cupping therapy at Jeonjung($CV_{17}$) increases the activity of the autonomic nervous system and has effects on the balance of the autonomic nervous system.

본 증례는 약 30년전 임신 후부터 강직성 척추염의 증상이 나타나기 시작하였고, 15년 전부터 경추 부까지 강직이 진행되었으며, 10년전부터 고관절의 침습이 나타났고 이후 계속 강직이 진행되어 좌측 고관절에 전치환술을 시행하고 2주후 본원에 내원한 만성 강직성 척추염 환자로서, 그동안 적절한 치료를 꾸준히 받아오지 못하여 척추부 및 고관절의 강직과 흉협통 뿐 아니라 견관절, 슬관절 및 거의 전신관절에 강직과 통증이 나타났고 식욕부진, 소화 장애와 전신피로감까지 호소하여 증상의 별다른 호진을 기대하기 힘들 것으로 예상하였으나 64일간 본원에 입원하여 한의학적인 치료와 운동요법 및 물리요법으로 이학적 검사상의 호전과 전신증상의 호전을 보였다. 식욕부진, 소화불량, 피로감, 체중감소, 빈혈, 발열(發熱), 도한(盜汗) 등 만성 강직성 척추염 환자에게서 나타날 수 있는 전신증상은 한의학에서 허증(虛證)의 범주에 가깝고, 변증시치를 통한 한의학적인 치료로 전신증상의 개선을 도모하면서 꾸준한 운동치료, 호흡치료 등의 재활치료를 병행한다면 보다 나은 임상적 치료효능을 거둘 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Bee-venom acupuncture on low back pain by traffic accidents. Methods : We included 34 patients with low back pain caused by TA for this study. The experimental group was treated by usual therapy plus Bee-venom acupuncture therapy, the control group was treated by usual therapy such as acupunture therapy and herbal medicine therapy. Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) and Visual Analog Scale(VAS) were evaluated at 4 week from baseline for the treatment effect in the both group. Results : After the subjects being treated by Bee-venom or general acupuncture therapy. It was detected that the scores of ODI and VAS in both groups decreased at the 4 week from baseline. There was significant difference between both groups in the VAS. However, there was no significant difference between both groups in the ODI. Conclusions : The results suggested that bee-venom acupuncture was effective on low back pain by traffic accidents.

There were a few case reports on the treatment of Takayasu's arteritis. We had a good effect on one patient with Takayasu's arteritis by oriental medicine therapy. We use acupuncture, herbal acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, moxa, negative thrapy, kinesio taping therapy, physical therapy and exercise for 82 days. In this case, Left hemiparesis, dysarthria, pulseless, disturbances of urination, headache, dizziness improved after treatment. We experienced improvement in this symptoms of Takayasu's arteritis by oriental medicine treatment.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical application of oriental medical treatment to a patient with hypeventilation syndrome developed after traffic accident. Hypeventilation syndrome is a kind of psychosomatic disorder. Typical complaints are tachypnea, palpitation, paresthesia, muscle spasm and tetany. We treated the patient with herbal medication, physical therapy, acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, etc. In acute hyperventilation attack, we used bloodletting therapy(+宣, shihhsuan), cupping therapy(B40, B57), emergency treatment with paper bag rebreathing and herbal medication in order to tranquilize. After 2 months of oriental medical treatment, we obtained good improvement in patient's state. This results suggest that oriental medical treatment has the positive effects on a patient with hyperventilation syndrome.

Objectives This study is to suggest the herbal bathing and the manual therapy with herbs for obesity patients according to the Sasang constitutional medicine. Methods In this study, first, we found the books, web sites and papers about bathing. And also we classified the herbs those are used each therapy according to the Sasang constitutional medicine theory. Results and Conclusions: We make good used of salts, sulfur or herbal agents inserted into a bath, when we are bathing. And we knew that "The Pinda manual therapy" is a therapy with medical herbs in the West. The Pinda manual therapy is a fomentation therapy with wrapped in cloth and steamed medical herbs. According to Sasang constitutional right to bath in each prescription were as follows. Taeeumin: Taeeumin Galgeunhaegi-tang. / Soyangin: Soyangin Hyeongbangpaedok-san. / Soeumin: Gunggwihyangso-san, Soeumin Kwakhyangjeonggi-san. / Taeyangin: Ogapijangchuk-tang. And also, by Sasang constitution, applicable herbs to the Pinda therapy were as follows. Taeeumin: Seokchangpo, Wonji, Gobon, Gamguk, Sokdan, Wiryeongseon.. / Soyangin: Hyeonggae, Bangpung, Bakha, Ganghwal, Dokhwal. / Soeumin: Kwakhyang, Soyeop, Danggwi, Cheongung, Sesin, Jinpi. / Taeyangin: Ogapi, Mokgwa, Nogeun, Gyomaek. It will be need to more study for effective clinical applications.
