We suggest the use of a self-assembled ultra thin organic film that can suppress the hydration of MgO protective layer in AC-PDP. We analyzed the degree of hydration of MgO layer in AC-PDP by XPS when exposed to air after vacuum deposition which proved the effectiveness of the hydration prevention. We also made PDP test panels to demonstrate the improvement in the luminance and luminous efficiency when the hydration of MgO surface is suppressed by the use of self-assembled ultra thin organic film.

Incorporation of solid electrodes frequently involves plasma-based processing. The effect of plasma can influence the physical characteristics, depending on the magnitude in plasma. The undesired feature of plasma-induced damage should be prevented in characterizing the ultra-thin materials, such as ultra-thin films and organic monolayers. The current work at first proves the applicability of a liquid phase electrode in the electrical/dielectric properties through comparative work using Al and Hg on ultrathin $Al_2O_3$ films deposited through atomic layer deposition at low temperature: Two types of metals such as Aluminum (Al) and mercury (Hg) were used as electrodes in $Al_2O_3$ thin films in order to investigate the effect of electrode preparation on the current-voltage characteristics and impedance features as a function of thickness in $Al_2O_3$ film thickness. The success of Hg in $Al_2O_3$ thin films is applied to the AC and DC characterization of the organic monolayers obtained using the Langmuir-Blodgett method. From the DC current-voltage characteristics, the diode-like response is found to originate from the bulk response of the organic materials, evidenced by the fact and the capacitance is inversely related to the absolute thickness of organic layers.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are attractive for field emitter because of their outstanding electrical, mechanical, and chemical properties. Several applications using CNTs as field emitters have been demonstrated such as field emission display (FED), backlight unit (BLU), and X-ray source. In this study, we fabricated a CNT cathode using transparent ultra-thin CNT film. First, CNT aqueous solution was prepared by ultrasonically dispersing purified single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in deionized water with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). To obtain the CNT film, the CNT solution in a milliliter or even several tens of micro-litters was deposited onto a porous alumina membrane through vacuum filtration process. Thereafter, the alumina membrane was solvated by the 3 M NaOH solution and the floating CNT film was easily transferred to an indium-tin-oxide (ITO) glass substrate of $0.5\times0.5cm^2$ with a film mask. The transmittance of as-prepared ultra-thin CNT films measured by UV-Vis spectrophotometer was 68~97%, depending on the amount of CNTs dispersed in an aqueous solution. Roller activation, which is a essential process to improve the field emission characteristics of CNT films, increased the UV-Vis transmittance up to 93~98%. This study presents SEM morphology of CNT emitters and their field emission properties according to the concentration of CNTs in an aqueous solutions. Since the ultra-thin CNT emitters prepared from the solutions show a high peak current density of field emission comparable to that of the paste-base CNT emitters and do not contain outgassing sources such as organic binders, they are considered to be very promising for small-size-but-high-end applications including X-ray sources and microwave power amplifiers.

We fabricated organic-inorganic superlattice films using molecular layer deposition (MLD) and atomic layer deposition (ALD). The MLD is a gas phase process in the vacuum like to atomic layer deposition (ALD) and also relies on a self-terminating surface reaction of organic precursor which results in the formation of a monolayer in each sequence. In the MLD process, 'Alucone' is very famous organic thin film fabricated using MLD. Alucone layers were grown by repeated sequential surface reactions of trimethylaluminum and ethylene glycol at substrate temperature of $80^{\circ}C$. In addition, we developed UV-assisted $Al_2O_3$ with gas diffusion barrier property better than typical $Al_2O_3$. The UV light was very effective to obtain defect-free, high quality $Al_2O_3$ thin film which is determined by water vapor transmission rate (WVTR). Ellipsometry analysis showed a self-limiting surface reaction process and linear growth of each organic, inorganic film. Composition of the organic films was confirmed by infrared (IR) spectroscopy. Ultra-violet (UV) spectroscopy was employed to measure transparency of the organic-inorganic superlattice films. WVTR is calculated by Ca test. Organic-inorganic superlattice films using UV-assisted $Al_2O_3$ and alucone have possible use in gas diffusion barrier for OLED.
Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method have been used by many rescarcher because of its facility to control the thickness of film as molecular order and orientation of molecular. We fabricated MIM device using copolymer LB films of $2C_{18}MA-VE_2$ and elecctrical conduction mechanism in ultra-thin LB film were investigated. In our experimental results, the maleate copolymer LB film have the properity of insulator like organic ultra-thin fiim. Its diclcctric constant was about 3.5 and its voltage generation about 0.1 Volt. And Schottky current was apeared as electrical conduction current and Schottky barrier was about 0.9(eV).

We has been studied the thin film encapsulation effect for organic light-emitting diodes (OLED). To evaluate the passivation properties of the passivation layer materials, we have carried out the fabrication of green light emitting diodes with ultra violet(UV) light absorbing polymer resin, $SiO_2,\;and\;SiN_x$, respectively. From the measurement results of shrinkage properties according to the exposure time to the atmosphere, we found that $SiN_x$ thin film is the best material for passivation layer. We have investigated the emission efficiency and life time of OLED device using the package structure of $OLED/SiN_x/polymer$ resin/Al/polymer resin. The emission efficiency of this OLED device was 13 lm/W and life time was about 2,000 hours, which reach 95 % of the performance for the OLED encapsulated with metal.
Device quality indium tin oxide (ITO) films are deposited on glass substrates and ultra-thin diamond-like carbon films are deposited as a buffer layer on ITO by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser at 355 nm and 532 nm wavelength. ITO films deposited at room temperature are largely amorphous although their optical transmittances in the visible range are > 90%. The resistivity of their amorphous ITO films is too high to enable an efficient organic light-emitting device (OLED), in contrast to that deposited by a KrF laser. Substrate heating at $200^{\circ}C$ with laser wavelength of 355 nm, the ITO film resistivity decreases by almost an order of magnitude to $2{\times}10^{-4}\;{\Omega}\;cm$ while its optical transmittance is maintained at > 90%. The thermally induced crystallization of ITO has a preferred <111> directional orientation texture which largely accounts for the lowering of film resistivity. The background gas and deposition distance, that between the ITO target and the glass substrate, influence the thin-film microstructures. The optical and electrical properties are compared to published results using other nanosecond lasers and other fluence, as well as the use of ultra fast lasers. Molecularly doped, single-layer OLEDs of ITO/(PVK+TPD+$Alq_3$)/Al which are fabricated using pulsed-laser deposited ITO samples are compared to those fabricated using the commercial ITO. Effects such as surface texture and roughness of ITO and the insertion of DLC as a buffer layer into ITO/DLC/(PVK+TPD+$Alq_3$)/Al devices are investigated. The effects of DLC-on-ITO on OLED improvement such as better turn-on voltage and brightness are explained by a possible reduction of energy barrier to the hole injection from ITO into the light-emitting layer.

A bottom contact organic thin film transistor (OTFT) is fabricated with an organic double-layered gate insulator (GI) and pentacene. The PMMA and MNB layers are treated on gate insulator and source/drain (S/D, Au) before depositing pentacene to investigate device properties and pentacene growth. The sequence of surface treatment affects a device performance seriously. The ultra-thin PMMA (below 50A) was deposited on organic gate insulator and S/D metal by spin coating method, which showed no deterioration of on-state current (Ion) although bottom contact structure was exploited. We proposed that the reason of no contact resistance (Rc) increase may be due to a wettability difference in between PMMA / Au and PMMA / organic GI. As a result, the device treated by $PMMA\;{\rightarrow}\;MNB$ showed much better Ion behavior than those fabricated by $MNB\;{\rightarrow}\;PMMA$. We will report the important physical and electrical performance difference associated with surface treatment sequence.
This paper designed a voltage feedback driving circuit to compensate for the characteristic deviation of the Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode driving Thin Film Transistor. This paper describes a stable and fast circuit by applying charge sharing and polar stabilization methods. A 12-inch Organic Light Emitting Diode with a Double Wide Ultra eXtended Graphics Array resolution creates a screen distortion problem for line parasitism, and charge sharing and polar stabilization structures were applied to solve the problem. By applying Charge Sharing, all data lines are shorted at the same time and quickly positioned as the average voltage to advance the compensated change time of the gate voltage in the next operation period. A buffer circuit and a current pass circuit were added to lower the Amplifier resistance connected to the line as a polar stabilization method. The advantage of suppressing the Ringing of the driving Thin Film Transistor can be obtained by increasing the stability. As a result, a circuit was designed to supply a stable current to the Organic Light Emitting Diode even if the characteristic deviation of the driving Thin Film Transistor occurs.

Ultra-thin films of organic charge transfer complex were prepared on a hydrophilic substrate by Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique. In this study, the photoelectric properties of a LB film consisting of (N-docosyl quinolinium)-TCNQ(1:2) complex was investigated. The visible light(${\lambda}$ : 700 nm) of xenon lamp was illuminated on the LB films and light absorptivity and photoconductivity were observed. The photocurrent increased linearly and was saturated at the light intensity of 23 ${\mu}W/cm^{2}$.
