  • MOCVD method is one of promising techniques which can fabricate YBCO coated conductors in a low Price A continuous reel-to-reel MOCVD device using a dispersed solid source was designed and manufactured. YBCO films were deposited on various substrates of metallic silver, (100) MgO and SrTiO3 single crystals. The chemical composition of the metal organic sources was changed to optimize the processing condition associate to the deposition of the stoichiometric Y3a2Cu3O7-y. We report the superconducting transition temperature, surface morphology and chemical composition of the YBCO film surfaces.

  • In developing, microscopic scale electrical and electronic devices, molecular level Insulators and functional electric conductors are fundamental. The properties of the electrical-insulating thin film materials are very much dependent on defects and electron transfer rate. There are number of companies which try to reduce defects and control electrical conductivity. Functional electrical conductors are more demanding subject in electrical fields. Reorganization energy around the sites that generate the electrons and holes are very important for the electron transfer in the organic thin layers.

  • Cooling function is definitely one of the most desirable attribute of clothing. In spite of the recent progress on phase changing material(PCM) research, the final products with sufficient amount of cooling capability have not yet to be developed in market. A new concept of cooling fabrics has been proposed by applying "Peltier effect" to textile materials. It occurs whenever electrical current flows through two dissimilar conductors; depending on the direction of current flow, the junction of the two conductors is absorbed or released heat. This effect has been tested on P-type and N-type conducting polymers. A P-type conductive polypyrrole coated fabric was synthesized by in-situ polymerization on plain weave PET to make conductive fabrics. And an N-type electrically conductive material was synthesized by treatment of MWNT and polyethyleneimine(PEI). A noticeable amount of temperature difference has been found on the fabrics.

  • Organic batteries are attractive alternatives to conventional inorganic batteries because of their low cost, biodegradation, and renewability, and their consequent environmental friendliness. We investigated the influence of carbon conductors and electrolytes in organic batteries using dilithium terephthalate ($Li_2C_8H_4O_4$). The synthesized dilithium terephthalate has well-grown crystallinity and non-uniform shaped particles without impurities. The dilithium terephthalate-based battery shows good electrochemical properties with a LiTFSI/TEGDME electrolyte and graphene as the carbon conductor in an organic electrode. The results are ascribed to the high lithium transference number of LiTFSI/TEGDME and the high electrical conductivity of graphene.

  • In general, the insulation and protective sheaths on electrical conductors are made of combustible substances like PVC, natural or synthetic rubbers, and other organic or synthetic materials. When an electrical fire starts due to overheating of conductors/joints or sparking/arcing, the first thing to ignite is usually the insulation on the cables. When the insulation bums, the produced fumes are very toxic. To solve the problem, we have surely need the fire resistance cable that doesn't bum in a high temperature and emit toxic fume for operating a disaster prevention installation. In this paper, we have simulated the thermal analysis for the fire resistance cable according to the values of current in a overload and a short, and the values of outside flame with the fire resistance cable of the L's company product(600 V, FR-8 : Four Core) using the finite element method(Flux2D).

  • Conductive polymers(CPs) are a relatively new class of organic materials displaying as their foremost property a high conductivity combined with very light weight, flexibility and reasonably facile processability[1]. Due to their high conductivity/weight ratio, they have recently evinced much interest in potential application as EMI shielding screens, coatings or jackets for flexible conductors, rechargeable batteries and as possible substitutes for metallic conductors or semiconductors in wide variety of electrical devices[2]. • Conductive polymers are polymers that conduct electricity like metal conductors. Unlike typical organic polymers, they are polymers that have the electrical, magnetic, and optical properties of metals or semiconductors. For Example, these conductive polymers include Polypyrrole (PPy), Polyaniline (PANI), and Polythiophene (PT). On the other hand, Insulating polymers do not conduct electricity well while providing insulation, which is the opposite of conductivity. With the exception of conductive polymers, most polymers are non-conductors. Insulating polymers include polyimide (PI), polystyrene (PS), and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVOH, PVA, or PVAl). Although many different polymers exist, we have simply illustrated the properties and recent developments of conductive and insulating polymers, which have opposite properties.

  • The five-year national project in Japan for R&D of coated conductors and applications, named as the Materials and Power Applications of Coated Conductors (M-PACC) project, was finished at the end of FY2013. The project consists of four sub-themes as cable, transformer, SMES and coated conductors. In the theme of coated conductors, the fabrication process had been developed to satisfy the requirements from the applications such as in-field $I_c$ performance, low AC loss in the long tapes etc. Through the project, the remarkable progress was achieved as follows; a high in-field minimum $I_c$ value over 54A/cm-width under 3T at 77K was realized in a 200m long EuBCO tape with artificial pinning centers of $BaHfO_3$ by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique on the IBAD template. On the other hand, the AC loss reduction was confirmed in the tapes fabricated by both PLD and the metal organic deposition (MOD) techniques by scribing 100m tapes into 10-filamments. Additionally, the mechanism of the delamination phenomenon was systematically investigated and the strength was improved by eliminating the origins of the weak points in the films. Through the development, all targeted goals were accomplished and the several results were appreciated as a world champion data.

  • YBCO coated conductors (CC) on the $CeO_2$-buffered IBAD-MgO template were fabricated by metal-organic deposition (MOD) Process with Ba-trifluoroacetate and fluorine-free Y and Cu precursor materials. The precursor solution was coated on $CeO_2$-buffered IBAD MgO templates using the multiple dip-coating method, decomposed into inorganic precursors by pyrolysis up to $400^{\circ}C$ within 3 h, and finally fired at $740{\sim}800^{\circ}C$ in a reduced oxygen atmosphere. Microstructure, texture, and superconducting properties of YBCO films were found highly sensitive to both the firing temperature and time. The high critical current density ($J_C$) of $1.15\;MA/cm^2$ at 77.3K in the self-field could be obtained from $1\;{\mu}m$ thick YBCO CC, fired at $740^{\circ}C$ for 3.5 h, implying that high performance YBCO CC is producible on IBAD MgO template. Further enhancement of $J_C$ values is expected by improving the in-plane texture of $CeO_2$-buffer layer and avoiding the metal substrate contamination.
