  • In this study, the device was developed for evaluating the effect of pressure on chloride ion penetration of concrete. And chloride-ion penetration depth and water soluble chloride contents was evaluated concrete using ordinary portland cement and blast-furnace slag cement using developed device. As a result, chloride ion penetration of concrete was promoted according to the action of pressure and the exposure period. and the incorporation of blast-furnace slag was effective for chloride attack resistibility under pressure.

  • The foam concrete was fabricated by adding the foaming agent which composite ordinary Portland cement with plant and animal protein into cement paste, and the electromagnetic wave absorption properties were studied for the first time as well. The studies showed that the electromagnetic waves can be absorbed by multiple reflections and scattering within the porous material. Thickness and filling ratio have a great influence on the electromagnetic wave absorbing properties in 2-18 GHz of the foam concrete, the greater the thickness, the better the performance of absorption; filling ratio was about 52 vol.%, the absorbing properties achieved the best.

  • This paper introduces a study of concrete structures with a broken tire and a flat tire as a complete overhaul. The materials used to make concrete in this study are solid aggregate, cement, sand, flat tire, broken wheel, drinking water, and Ordinary Portland Cement. A total of 6 main compounds were thrown into solid cylinders and replaced by 0% as a controller followed by 5% and 10%. The cylinder pressure test of the concrete is done by applying the same pressure to the cylinders until a failure occurs. The results of the pressure test show that by applying 5% aggregation the pressure decreases. In Crumb wheel joints, the compression force decreases constantly as the percentage change increases. Therefore, the crumb wheel is not recommended for use as a complete replacement due to its compressive church power.

  • In this paper, the properties of Interlocking block contained blast furnace slag cement are compared with that with O.P.C.(ordinary portland cement) and are analyzed under various mix proportions and the dosage of AE agent. According to the experimental results, compressive strength and flexural strength of interlocking block with blast furnace slag cement are lower than that with OPC. Also the strength and the ratio of absorption decrease with higher dosage of AE agent. although interlocking block with OPC has better performance than that of blast furnace slag in the side of quality, it is worth while to use the blast furnace slag as materials of interlocking block considered the side of recycling of resources and economy.

  • Apparent diffusion coefficients of Cl- ions through hardened cement pastes(HCP), which were partly subs¬tituted blast furnace slag, fly ash and silicafume for ordinary Portland cement, were determined. Also. Cl- and OW concentration of pore solutions which were extracted from HCP and the capacities of the HCP to bind CI were determined. Diffusion coefficients of Cl- ions through HCP were increased with water cement ratio(WfC), but decreased with addition of the blending materials. On the contrary, Cl- and OH concentration of the pore solutions were reduced by adding the blending materials.

  • This study aims to manufacture ultra fine cement(UFC) with a multi air-classifier of the dry-type. The classifier employed and devised for materials refining was a cyclone type fitted with an air suction device. This study also investigates the basic physical properties and quality of UFC and evaluates its utilizable possibility as a construction material. The basic properties of the UFC containing granulated blast furnace slag were analyzed and examined through recovery ratio, particle size distribution, scanning electron microscopy and compressive strength. Results obtained from the analysis of ultra fine cement have shown that there are possibilities for manufacturing UFC, which could compensate the weak properties of ordinary Portland cement.

  • In this study, to present the use of the blase furnace slag fly ash derived from a large amount of the industrial products with the early strength reduction of it prevented, the initial strength is measured after a large quantity of fly ash and the required stimulus agent for the high development of the initial strength was added in blast furnace slag cement. As the results, in spite of the much addition of fly ash in blast furnace slag, the long-age strength of blast furnace slag cement was able to be improved by a proper amount of stimulus agent, and was as high as that of ordinary portland cement.

  • When concrete is exposed to fire, the thermal decomposition of hydrates of Portland cement paste results in critical damage to the concrete structure of a building. Recently, nanosilica arose as the effective nano-additive which can enhance the thermal resistance of the cementitious materials. However, the mechanism of the enhancement was not elucidated specifically. In this study, we investigated the properties of calcium silicate hydrates(C-S-H)of the nanosilica incorporated cement paste after heating to different heating temperatures (200℃, 500℃, and 800℃) by 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance. The results showed that the polymerization of C-S-H of nanosilica incorporated samples was larger than ordinary cement paste after heating to 200℃, and C-S-H formed during heating process to 500℃ due to the pozzolanic reaction during heating process.

  • Drying shrinkage cracking which may be caused by the relatively large specific surface IS a matter of grave concern for latex modified concrete(LMC) overlay and rapid-setting cement latex modified concrete(RSLMC) overlay. LMC and RSLMC were studied for field applications very actively in terms of strength and durability in Korea. However, there were no considerations in drying shrinkage. Therefore, the purpose of this dissertation was to study the drying shrinkage properties of LMC and RSLMC with the main experimental variables such as cement types(ordinary portland cement, rapid setting cement), water-cement ratios and curing days at a same controlled environment of 60% of relative humidity and $20^{\circ}C$ of temperature The drying shrinkage for specimens was measured with a digital dial gauge of Demec. The test results showed that the drying shrinkage of LMC and RSLMC were considerably lower with low water-cement ratio, respectively This might be attributed to the interlocking of hydrated cement and aggregates by a film of latex particles, water retention due to hydrophobic, and colloidal properties of the latexes resulting in reduced water evaporation.

  • Protections from the frost damage at early ages are one of the serious problems to be considered in cold weather concreting. Frost damage at early ages brings about the harmful influences on the concrete structures such as surface cracks and declination of strength development. Therefore, in this paper, protecting periods of frost damage at early ages according to the standard specifications provided in KCI(Korean Concrete Institute) are suggested by appling logistic curve, which evaluates the strength development of concrete with maturity. W/B, kinds of cement and curing temperatures are selected as test parameters. According to the results, the estimation of strength development by logistic curve has a good agreement between calculated values and measured values. As W/B and compressive strength for protecting from frost damages at early ages increase, it is prolonged. It shows that the protecting periods of FAC(Fly Ash Cement) and BSC(Blast-furnace Slag Cement) concrete are longer than those of OPC(Ordinary Portland Cement) concrete. The protecting peridos from frost damage at early age by JASS are somewhat shorter than those by this paper.
