  • It is a daunting task to theorize the process effectiveness of IT convergence based service model. Despite the criticalness of investigating process enhancement impact of IT-convergence based service model, the theoretical research in this field is relatively scarce, possibly due to the too wide and comprehensiveness of research scope. In this vein, we conducted exploratory study to understand the contributional impact of IT convergence based service model on resolving service process limitations. We first identified five IT convergence based service models in the area of typical service industry, which include entertainment, learning, location based services, tourism, and healthcare. Our research model classified value creation factors of the IT convergence model in twofold. The one is defined as basic value creation factor of the IT convergence, which is treated as the second-order factor that consists of two first-order factors of mobile functionality and Internet with digital contents merging functionality. The other is defined as service process limitations resolving factor which are comprised with the two first-order factors of simultaneousity and perishability. Both the second-order factors are modeled, each respectively, with the two first-order factors in formative manner. Using PLS, empirical validation is executed to analyze each value creating factor's contribution impact on the relative advantage, as well as the mediating effect of basic value creation factor on resolving service process limitations. On the basis of the insights revealed from this paper, further theory building research could be elaborated in the area of IT convergence applications for service industry.

  • In this paper we consider weak convergence of some rescaled transi-tion probabilities of a real-valued, k-th order (k $\geq$ 1) stationary Markov chain. Under the assumption that the joint distribution of K + 1 consecutive variables belongs to the domain of attraction of a multivariate extreme value distribution, the paper gives a sufficient condition for the weak convergence and characterizes the limiting distribution via the multivariate extreme value distribution.

  • A convergence behavior is under investigation near a simple real zero for the k-fold pseudo-Olver's method defined by extending the classical Olver's method. The order of convergence is shown to be at least k+3. The asymptotic error constant is explicitly given in terms of k and the corresponding simple zero. Various numerical examples with a proposed zero-finding algorithm are successfully confirmed with the use of symbolic and computational ability of Mathematica.

  • In this paper, we present a local convergence analysis of a three point method with convergence order $1.839{\ldots}$ for approximating a locally unique solution of a nonlinear operator equation in setting of Banach spaces. Using weaker hypotheses than in earlier studies, we obtain: larger radius of convergence and more precise error estimates on the distances involved. Finally, numerical examples are used to show the advantages of the main results over earlier results.

  • Very compact 4-channel 200-GHz-spacing external cavity lasers (ECLs) were fabricated by hybrid integration of reflection gratings and superluminescent laser diodes on a planar lightwave circuit chip. The fifth-order gratings as reflection gratings were formed using a conventional contact-mask photo-lithography process to achieve low-cost fabrication. The lasing wavelength of the fabricated ECLs matched the ITU grid with an accuracy of ${\pm}0.1$ nm, and optical powers were more than 0.4 mW at the injection current of 80 mA for all channels. The ECLs showed single mode operations with more than 30 dB side lobe suppression.

  • Generalized order statistics (gos) introduced by Kamps [8] as a unified approach to several models of order random variables (rv's), e.g., (ordinary) order statistics (oos), records, sequential order statistics (sos). In a wide subclass of gos, included oos and sos, the possible limit distribution functions (df's) of the maximum gos are obtained in Nasri-Roudsari [10]. In this paper, for this subclass, as the df of the suitably normalized extreme gos converges on an interval [c, d] to one of possible limit df's of the extreme gos, the continuation of this (weak) convergence on the whole real line to this limit df is proved.

  • Let $X_1$, $X_2$,${\ldots}$, $X_n$ be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables with common distribution function $F$. Convergence rates for the moments of extremes are studied by virtue of second order regularly conditions. A unified treatment is also considered under second order von Mises conditions. Some examples are given to illustrate the results.

  • A general class of two-point optimal fourth-order methods is proposed for locating multiple roots of a nonlinear equation. We investigate convergence analysis and computational properties for the family. Special and simple cases are considered for real-life applications. Numerical experiments strongly verify the convergence behavior and the developed theory.

  • The solutions of equations are usually found using iterative methods whose convergence order is determined by Taylor expansions. In particular, the local convergence of the method we study in this paper is shown under hypotheses reaching the third derivative of the operator involved. These hypotheses limit the applicability of the method. In our study we show convergence of the method using only the first derivative. This way we expand the applicability of the method. Numerical examples show the applicability of our results in cases earlier results cannot.

  • Kou et al. presented a class of new variants of Ostrowski's method in their paper (J. of Comput. Appl. Math., 209(2007), pp.153-159) whose title is "Some variants of Ostrowski's method with seventh-order convergence". They proposed an incorrect error equation, although they showed a correct seventh-order of convergence. The main objective of this note is to establish the correct error equation of the method and confirm its validity via concrete numerical examples.
