  • In this paper, The ET-MBEF algorithm is presented for CCD imaging seeker. At the imaging seeker, target size information is important factor for accurate tracking. The MBEF algorithm was proposed to estimate target size at IIR seeker. However, the MBEF algorithm can't be applied at CCD imaginary target size estimation. In order to overcome the problem, we propose ET-MBEF algorithm which based on ET (Edge Template) and MBEF algorithm. The performance of proposed method is tested at target intercept scenario. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm has the accurate target intercept performance.

  • This paper deals with the performance evaluation of determining production size specifications. A customer who does not find the size specification he or she wants may purchase rather a larger or smaller one, but the purchasing desire decreases as the difference between the required and the prepared sizes increases. Introducing a generalized quality loss function which reflects how much the purchasing desire changes according to the difference, Park and Kim(1992) formulated a mathematical model for determining the size specifications so as to minimize the expected loss. Afterward the model has been applied to the determination of sizing system for mail order clothing and brassiere (Lee and Choi, 1996; Chun, et.al., 1996). The performance of the size determination method proposed by Park and Kim is evaluated in this paper. Usually the intervals between two successive size specifications are determined to be equal, but the size determination method compares favorably with the equidistance case, and more favorably if the population distribution is more skewed.

  • The principal objective of this study was to investigate changes in ice dendrite size during the freezing of tuna, in order to formulate a mathematical model of ice dendrite size. The tuna was frozen via a uni-directional heat transfer. Thermogram analysis allowed us to determine the position of the freezing front versus time, which is referred to as the freezing front rate. The morphology of the ice dendrites was assessed via scanning electron microscopy after freeze-drying, and the retained pore size was measured as ice dendrites. We noted that the mean size of ice dendrites increased with the distance to the cooling plate; however, it decreased with reductions in the cooling rate and the cooling temperature. In addition, shorter durations of the freeze-drying process decreased the freezing front rate, resulting in a larger size of the ice dendrite pores that operate as water vapor sublimation channels. According to our results, we could derive a linear regression as an empirical mathematical model equation between the ice dendrite size and the inverse of the freezing front rate.

  • A series of test were undertaken in order to estabilish the effect of different milling variables on dimension and quality of aluminium flake powder. Milling conditions such as initial powder size, milling container rotation speed, milling time, and ball size were varied to produce aluminium flake powder. Flake powder could then be obtained with size range from 15 $\mu$m to 40 $\mu$m with a maximum specific surface area of 5 $m^{2}$/g by controlling milling conditions. Diameter of milled powders with different milling container rotation speed and ball size were compared with that obtained from theoretical model. The best flake powder was obtained in milling condition of initial powder with average size of 19 $\mu$m, mill container rotation speed of 80 rpm, balls of 9.5 mm diameter, and milling time of 40 hours.

  • In simulation input modeling, it is important to identify a probability distribution to represent the input process of interest. In this paper, an appropriate sample size is determined for parameter estimation associated with some typical probability distributions frequently encountered in simulation input modeling. For this purpose, a statistical measure is proposed to evaluate the effect of sample size on the precision as well as the accuracy related to the parameter estimation, square rooted mean square error to parameter ratio. Based on this evaluation measure, this sample size effect can be not only analyzed dimensionlessly against parameter's unit but also scaled regardless of parameter's magnitude. In the Monte Carlo simulation experiments, three continuous and one discrete probability distributions are investigated such as ; 1) exponential ; 2) gamma ; 3) normal ; and 4) poisson. The parameter's magnitudes tested are designed in order to represent distinct skewness respectively. Results show that ; 1) the evaluation measure drastically improves until the sample size approaches around 200 ; 2) up to the sample size about 400, the improvement continues but becomes ineffective ; and 3) plots of the evaluation measure have a similar plateau pattern beyond the sample size of 400. A case study with real datasets presents for verifying the experimental results.

  • In clinical trials of nursing research, the sample size determination is one of the most important factor. Although sample size must be considered at the design stage, it has been disregarded in most clinical trials. The power analysis is usually performed before study begins to compute sample size and the power can also be calculated at the end of study in order to justify study result. The power analysis is essential especially when the clinical trials can not show significant differences. In this paper, we review the statistical methods for power analysis and sample size formulae in nursing research. Sample size formulae and the corresponding examples are discussed according to the six types of studies ; mean for one sample, proportion for one sample, means in two samples, proportions in two samples, correlation coefficient and ANOVA.

  • The aim of this study is to suggest a Sizing System which has following points:- 1. In order to satisfy children of diverse figure shapes, we developed sizing system for three different figure type. Figure types are categorized into slim, normal, fat type based on the Rohrer Index. 2. For each figure types, we developed size chart using height bust circumference and hip circumference as basic measurements. The size codes are presented as the height-bust circumference or height-hip circumference. The size interval of height is 5cm for all figure types, such as 120,125,130 ‥‥ we developed a size allocation program, which is helpful when a customer doesn't know exact measurement of some body dimension. If a customer input measurements as much as he/she hows, the program allocates the nearest. At the end of the study, the sizing interaction sites were developed to present the results of the study clear.

  • The reduction phenomena of the compressive strength of concrete with respect to the size of specimens have been extensively investigated. However, adequate analysis technique have not been developed until now. Existing researches have shown that the larger member size, the smaller the strength. This indicated the necessity of nonlinear fracture mechanics theory in order to analyze the fracture behaviors of concrete. The are some models that predict the size effect of compressive strength of cylindrical specimens. Theses equations, however, are developed not considering the difference of fracturing mechanism which depends on both geometry of specimen and the strength level of concrete. In this paper, a model to predict compressive strength of cylindrical concrete specimens with respect to diameters, h/d ratios, and the strength level of concrete, is suggested. For this purpose, theoretical and statistical analyses are conducted. Experimental constants used in the model of new size effect are formulated in terms of strength levels of concrete based on existing experimental data.
