  • Recently, a new type actuator using multi-pole magnet has been developed for high-density and high-speed disk drive, which can be achieved higher sensitivity than a conventional actuator for applying one-pole magnet. However, it is very difficult for the actuator of multi-pole magnet to meet simultaneously the optimal design condition for reducing rolling mode effect and improving driving sensitivity because the force center is different from the mass center In this paper, First We propose the new shape coil for tracking which can reverse moment additionally in tracking motion, Next we achieve the optimal design to reduce phase disturbance and peak gain at the rolling mode frequency. Finally, the validity of the proposed methods is proved from experimental results.

  • Design sensitivity analysis is proposed for the optimal shape design of three-dimensional magnetostatic problems. The direct differentiation method is introduced for design sensitivity analysis and the boundary element method with reduced magnetic scalar potential as the state variable is used to analyze the magnetic characteristics. In the direct differentiation method, the design sensitivity, defined as the total derivative of the objective function with respect to the design variables, is calculated based on the variation of the state variable with respect to the design variable. And the variation of the state variable is calculated by differetiating the both sides of the system matrix equation obtained by applying boundary element method. Through the numerical example with simple electromagnet, the usefulness is proved.

  • Sizing design sensitivity analysis of structures subjected to the harmonic vibration is performed using adjoint variable method. Constraint is the stress and sizing design variables are thickness, bending moment of inertia, and cross-sectional area of structures. Accurate sensitivities are computed and plotted sensitivity can be used as a design guidance tool. The accuracy of sensitivities is verified by the finite difference values. Also, optimal design of three-bar structure is performed using the computed sensitivity and feasible direction method while satisfying constraints and obtaining the minimum weight.

  • The study was aimed to investigate the operational meal costs by kindergarten size in Seoul and to analyze recognition for optimal meal prices. A survey (31.6% recovery rate) was conducted on all kindergartens (779 kindergartens) in Seoul on April 2021 using descriptive analysis, t-test, and dispersion method. A price sensitivity measurement (psm) method was used to determine optimal meal prices. Result showed an average food cost for kindergartens of 2,647 won, an average labor cost of 605 won, an average operating cost of 146 won, and the total meal cost of 3,506 won. Total meal cost decreased with increasing kindergarten size (p<0.001). On the other hand, kindergartens with more students decreased the ratio of food cost to total meal cost, and operating cost and labor costs (p<0.001) increased. The optimal price of kindergarten operators' meal cost (OPP) was KRW 3,673. Furthermore, the analysis showed the sensitivity of operators' meal costs to kindergarten size was insignificant.

  • In order to design the hull form of an underwater vehicle in the conceptual design phase, the dynamic characteristics depending on the hull form parameters should be identified. Course-keeping stability, turning ability, yaw-checking ability, and mission competence are set to be the indices of the dynamic characteristics, and the geometric parameters for the bare hull and rudder are set to be the hull form design parameters. The total sensitivity of the dynamic characteristics with respect to the hull form parameters is calculated by the chain rule of the partial sensitivity of the dynamic characteristics with respect to the hydrodynamic coefficients, and the partial sensitivity of the hydrodynamic coefficients with respect to the hull form parameters. Based on the sensitivity analysis, important hull form parameters are selected, and those optimal values to satisfy the required intercept time of mission competence of a specific underwater vehicle and turning rate are estimated.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to determine an optimal number of cycle times for the replacement under the circumstance where the system is replaced at the periodic time and the multiple number of working cycles whichever occurs first and the system is minimally repaired between the replacements if it fails. Methods: The system is replaced at periodic time () or cycle time, whichever occurs first, and is repaired minimally when it fails between successive replacements. To determine the optimal number of cycle times, the expected total cost rate is optimized with respect to the number of cycle times, where the expected total cost rate is defined as the ratio of the expected total cost between replacements to the expected time between replacements. Results: In this paper, we conduct a sensitivity analysis to find the following results. First, when the expected number of failures per unit time increases, the optimal number of cycle times decreases. Second, when the periodic time for replacement becomes longer, the optimal number of cycle times decreases. Third, when the expected value for exponential distribution of the cycle time increases, the optimal number of cycle times increases. Conclusion: A mathematical model is suggested to find the optimal number of cycle times and numerical examples are provided through the sensitivity analysis on the model parameters to see the patterns for changes of the optimal number of cycle times.

  • The purpose of this paper is study the sensitivity analysis of matrix game. Teh sensitivity analysis of matrix is classified into two types. Type one is to find the characteristic region of an element of the pay off matrix in which the value of the current optimal strategy remains as an optimum. Type two is to find that in which the basis of the current optimal strategy does not change. This paper shows the characteristic regions of basic and nonbasic strategies. Further it is found that the characteristic regions of type one and two are same in the case that the element is that of at least one player's nonbasic strategy.

  • This paper describes an efficient optimization algorithm by calculating sensitivity function for power system stabilization. In power system, the dynamic performance of exciter, governor etc. following a disturbance can be presented by a nonlinear differential equation. Since a nonlinear equation can be linearized for small disturbances, the state equation is expressed by a system matrix with system parameters. The objective function for power system operation will be related to the system parameter and the initial state at the optimal control condition for control or stabilization. The object function sensitivity to the system parameter can be considered to be effective in selecting the optimal parameter of the system.

  • This study presents a methodology to choose the optimal parameter of controller by using the performance index sensitivity. The pro-posed method is to select the controller parameter to have the minimum sensitivity. It is shown that the optimal parameter proves the effectiveness in the dynamic stability of power system.

  • The welding technology and qualities are developed significantly, in recent years, in the use of automated processing technology and welding robot systems. But these automated welding technologies have many difficulties for finding the optimal welding parameter conditions. Because of the lack of mathematical model for determination of optimal welding process parameters. In this study, the sensitivity analysis of the empirical equations for finding weld bead width, height and penetration depth by using the published formulae. The selected major welding process parameters effected to weld bead geometries are the welding speed, current, voltage and weld wire diameter.
