  • This paper presents the guidance and control design for automatic carrier landing of a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). Differently from automatic landing on a runway on the ground, the motion of a carrier deck is not fixed and affected by external factors such as ship movement and sea state. For this reason, robust guidance/control law is required for safe shipboard landing by taking the relative geometry between the UAV and the carrier deck into account. In this work, linear quadratic optimal controller and longitudinal/lateral trajectory tracking guidance algorithm are developed based on a linear UAV model. The feasibility of the proposed control scheme and guidance law for the carrier landing are verified via numerical simulations using X-Plane and Matlab/simulink.

  • A new guidance synthesis for anti-ship missiles to control impact angle and impact time is proposed in this paper. The flight vehicle is assumed as a 1st order lag system to consider more practical system. The proposed guidance synthesis enhances the survivability of anti-ship missiles because multiple anti-ship missiles with the proposed synthesis can hit the target simultaneously. The control input to satisfy constraints of zero miss distance and impact angle, and the feedforward bias control input to control impact time constitute the guidance law. The former is from trajectory shaping guidance, the latter is from neural network. And particle swarm optimization method is introduced to furnish reference input and output for learning in neural network. The performance of the proposed synthesis in the accuracy of impact time and angle is validated by numerical examples.

  • This paper considers one of the explicit guidance algorithms, which has been proposed by Jaggers, to determine the closed-loop guidance algorithm for upper stages of a 3-staged space launch vehicle. Its commanded thrust vector is closer to the optimal solution when compared with that obtained by using the well-known Powered Explicit Guidance (PEG), which has been developed through the Space Shuttle program. Its performance is evaluated here by applying for guidance of the launcher during the second and third stages. Furthermore, to generate more precise guidance commands, it is attempted not to use the approximate formulas for the derivation of the original guidance law, and it is shown that performance is improved in comparison with the original.

  • This paper shows that the conventional proportional navigation guidance(PNG) law with a constant navigation gain is an optimal solution strictly also when the velocity is varying during engagement. Especially, PNG with navigation constant, 3, is an optimal solution minimizing a closing velocity weighted induced-drag. While most of previous studies on optimality of PNG were relied on the linear formulation and the constant speed assumption, this study presents more general analysis results on optimality of PNG based on the nonlinear formulation and the time-varying velocity assumption.

  • Analysis on optimality of the proportional navigation guidance(PNG) law is presented in this paper. While most of previous studies on optimality of PNG were relied on the linear formulation, this paper is based on the nonlinear formulation. The analysis shows that PNG is an optimal solution minimizing a range-weighted control energy, where the weighting function is an inverse of $\alpha$ power of the distance-to-target. We show that the navigation constant N is related to $\alpha$ directly. And also the conditions required to ensure the analysis result are investigated.

  • The missile control system is comprised of various control systems such as autopilot, guidance law, and homing filter and so on. To design these guidance and control system, the optimization technique is widely applied at each developing stage. However, this kind of optimization requires lots of time and cost and moreover, this approach does not give an overall system optimization result. In this paper, to use the optimization tool for control system design, the optimal problem formulation is done and the performance index and constraints are considered. And finally the systematically optimized method is proposed.

  • This paper presents guidance and control laws which guarantee a minimum fuel consumption and have obustness against various disturbances during a terminal-landing phase on the lunar surface. The nonlinear robust tracking control system is designed to track the reference profiles, which are expressed by exponential functions. An adjustment law in the tracking controller is given in the form of the differential equations with respect to the controller´s variable gains. Computer simulations are performed to examine the tracking accuracy, the robustness in a thrust failure mode, and the vertical soft landing at a pre-assigned point on the lunar surface. The results of numerical simulation show the effectiveness of the present control law.

  • This paper deals with a study for the guidance control of reusable launch vehicle. For this purpose, modeling of the equation of motion of a reusable launch vehicle with 6 degrees of freedom was performed. With this model, an optimal re-entry path was created and a path-following guidance control simulation was performed to follow the optimal re-entry path. For the design of the path-following guidance controller, the attitude controller applying a time-delay technique that is resistant to modeling uncertainty, disturbance and failure. And the nonlinear path-following guidance law were used. Guidance control simulation using a classical PD controller was performed and compared with the guidance control simulation of a reusable launch vehicle applying a time delay technique.

  • In this paper, we propose a time-varying proportional navigation guidance law that determines the proportional navigation gain in real-time according to the operating situation. When intercepting a target, an unidentified evasion strategy causes a loss of optimality. To compensate for this problem, proper proportional navigation gain is derived at every time step by solving an optimal control problem with the inferred evader's strategy. Recently, deep reinforcement learning algorithms are introduced to deal with complex optimal control problem efficiently. We adapt the actor-critic method to build a proportional navigation gain network and the network is trained by the Proximal Policy Optimization(PPO) algorithm to learn an evasion strategy of the target. Numerical experiments show the effectiveness and optimality of the proposed method.

  • With the advent of new customs and practice of electronic records, the eUCP provides some useful guidance to accommodate the presentation of the paper documents electronically and also provides necessary rules to allow the UCP and eUCP to work together. There is no denying the fact that many of the UCP articles are not impacted by the presentation of electronic equivalent of paper documents, so the integrated application of the UCP and eUCP will be broad enough to allow for developing practice in this area. This study discusses some theoretical implication for efficient utilization of the global usages of letter of credit through the finding of optimal solution in the state of uncertainty caused by the electronic presentation of documents. This study suggest that the decision rules be developed to show how individuals choose optimal portfolio between the eUCP and the UCP that maximize their expected utility in letter of credit transaction, and also suggest that the optimal portfolio be determined at the point of tangency between the efficient trading line and the highest indifference curve in the mean-variance plane. This study finally recommends three rebuttable doctrines with regard to the relationship between the eUCP and UCP such as linkage characteristics, generation lap propensity, and homothetic application rule, which may be the critical standards for understanding of the integrated usages of the eUCP and UCP.
