Purpose: This study was conducted to describe health in optimal fitness (HOF) in young children born prematurely and to analyze factors affecting HOF in health status, investment resources, and anthropological values, based on HOF theory. Methods: A case-control study of 76 children with preterm births (PTB) was conducted at 24 to 42 months of corrected age. Their HOF status was evaluated based on height, weight, head circumference, and the Korean-Bayley Scale of Infant Development-II and classified as either HOF-achieved or HOF-uncertain in the domain of growth, development, and all together. Results: For growth, development, and all, 26.3%, 27.6%, and 47.4% of children, respectively, belonged to the HOF-uncertain group. Logistic regression analysis showed that longer length of hospital stay (${\geq}21days$; OR=7.8; 95% CI [1.5, 40.5]), worse scores on the Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment (HOME) (${\geq}38$; OR=0.1; 95% CI [0.0, 0.4]), having a working mother, (OR=5.7; 95% CI [1.2, 27.6]), and an older mother (${\geq}35years$; OR=8.8; 95% CI [2.1, 37.3]) were statistically significant contributors of HOF-uncertain in the domain of all. Conclusion: Findings show that young children born prematurely with prolonged stays in a neonatal intensive care unit and insufficient socioeconomic resources at home are more likely to exhibit delayed growth and development.

In this study, direct-search based optimization methods are applied for blade shape optimization of wind turbines and the optimization performances of several methods including conventional genetic algorithm, micro genetic algorithm and pattern search method are compared to propose a more efficient method. For this purpose, the currently available version of HARP_Opt (Horizontal Axis Rotor Performance Optimizer) code is enhanced to rationally evaluate the annual energy production value according to control strategies and to optimize the blade shape using pattern search method as well as genetic algorithm. The enhanced HARP_Opt code is applied to obtain the optimal turbine blade shape for 1MW class wind turbines. The results from pattern search method are compared with the results from conventional genetic algorithm and also micro genetic algorithm and it is found that the pattern search method has a better performance in achieving higher annual energy production and consistent optimal shapes and the micro genetic algorithm is better for reducing the calculation time.

In this paper, we propose a Genetic Algorithm (GA) using symbiotic evolutionary viruses. Our GA is based on both the building block hypothesis and the virus theory of evolution. The proposed GA aims to control a destruction of building blocks by discovering, keeping, and propagating of building blocks based on virus operation. Concretely, we prepare the group of individuals and the group of viruses. In our GA, the group of individuals searches solutions and the group of viruses searches building blocks. These searches done based on the symbiotic relation of both groups. Also, our GA has two types of virus evaluation techniques. One is that each virus is evaluated by the difference of the fitness of an individual between before and after infection of virus. Another is that all viruses aye evaluated by the difference of the fitness of an individual between before and after infection of all viruses. Furthermore, we applied the proposed GA to the minimum value search problem of a test function which has some local solutions far from the optimal solution. And, we discuss a difference of behaviors of the proposed GA based on each virus evaluation techniques.

Coordination between supply chain partners is viewed critical to effective supply chain management. In many situations such as mutual investments or developing infrastructures for their operations related with each other, the coordination issue arises. Depending on the bargaining power balance between them, it is determined who will be able to exert more influence in making decisions related with such coordination. We consider two cases of the decision-making structure in the context of a simple supply chain consisting of two players, i.e., (1) the first case in which a supply chain partner dominates the decision-making process and the other passively follows the dominant player's decision, and (2) the other case in which the two players share the decision-making process equally. We examine which of the cases is better for the companies and where comes the value of the better case. To answer the research questions, we set up an optimal control theory model and derive an analytical solution. The analysis outcome indicates that the shared decision-making in general produces better results for both companies in the supply chain, and the value of the shared decision-making comes from more effective resource utilization than the dominated case.
Proportional capacitor-current-feedback active damping (AD) is a common damping method for the resonance of LCL-type grid-connected inverters. Proportional capacitor-current-feedback AD behaves as a virtual resistor in parallel with the capacitor. However, the existence of delay in the actual control system causes impedance in the virtual resistor. Impedance is manifested as negative resistance when the resonance frequency exceeds one-sixth of the sampling frequency ($f_s/6$). As a result, the damping effect disappears. To extend the system damping region, this study proposes a virtual resistor-inductor-capacitor (RLC) AD method. The method is implemented by feeding the filter capacitor current passing through a band-pass filter, which functions as a virtual RLC in parallel with the filter capacitor to achieve positive resistance in a wide resonance frequency range. A combination of Nyquist theory and system close-loop pole-zero diagrams is used for damping parameter design to obtain optimal damping parameters. An experiment is performed with a 10 kW grid-connected inverter. The effectiveness of the proposed AD method and the system's robustness against grid impedance variation are demonstrated.

In the research of the rolling of strip, producing the strip with a close tolerance of thickness over the rolling direction was a principal object. But it was solved by the contribution of two-dimensional theory of rolling and the development of automatic gauge control system. And new requirements for the study of flatness, crown of rolled strip and edge drop grow up recently. These phenomena are closely related with the thickness distribution along the lateral direction of rolled strip. To analyse the thickness distribution of rolled strip along the lateral direction, elastic deformation of rolls and plastic deformation of work material must be discussed simultaneously. In this report, an approximate three-dimensional analysis based on Tozawa's three dimensional approach was applied to 12 cases of different rolling conditions and the numerical results were investigated. Especially stresses were laid upon the investigation of optimal boundary position between the three-dimensional analysis region and the plane strain analysis region.

For the effective operation of irrigation reservoirs, a general and systematic policy is suggested to make balance of the conflicting purposes between water conservation and flood control. In this study, the flood effective analysis system was developed through the integration of long-term water budget analysis model, GIS-based HEC-HMS model and HEC-RAS model. The system structure consists of long-term water budget model using modified TANK theory, flood runoff and flood effects analysis model using HEC-GeoHMS, HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS models. The flood effects analysis system simulated the flood runoff from the upstream, downstream flood and long-term runoff of the watershed using the observed data collected from 1998 to 2002 of Seongju dam. The simulated results were reasonably good compared with the observed data. The optimal management method of the reservoir during the whole season is suggested in this study, and the flood analysis system can be a useful tool to evaluate a reservoir operation quantitatively for the mitigation of flood damages of reservoir basin.

To increase fishery resources in coastal waters, juvenile fish and bivalves are artificially released every year in Korea. This study provides a methodology to estimate an optimal release quantity based on the carrying capacity of the receiving basins. Carrying capacity was defined by E.p. Odum's theory of ecosystem development as the upper limit of biomass, where total system respiration equals total primary production. The Ecopath trophic ecological model was used to determine carrying capacity in the surfzone ecosystem of Bangjukpo on the southern coast of Korea. Using a top-down control method, various biomasses of fish groups were given to the simulation, with primary production constant and no catch. The results showed that biomass of selected fish groups increased by two orders of magnitude, yielding a five-fold increase in overall consumer biomass. The resultant values are 10 times higher than those estimated in open seas. This can be explained by higher primary production in the Bangjukpo surfzone ecosystem. This method can be used for strategic releases and ecosystem management, particularly when based on an ecological background.
This paper examines the direct effects of board independence and also its interaction effects with CEO's firm specific experience on firm performance. The findings in an hierarchial regression analysis of multiyear sample of computer hardware companies indicate that independent, outsider directors are beneficial to firms' performance when CEO has high-level of firm specific experience whereas it is harmful when CEO has low-level of firm specific experience. However, separating the positions of board chair and chief executive officer that has been used as another means for increasing board independence does not influence to firms' performance. These findings imply that researchers in corporate governance should reconsider the relative weight placed on directors' monitoring and assistance role. Rather than focusing predominantly on directors' willingness or ability to control executives, in future research scholars should yield more productive results by focusing on the assistance directors provide in bringing valued resources to the CEOs and in serving as a source of advice and counsel especially for CEO's improvement of management technique. In addition, they should pay more attention on identifying intervening processes between board and firm performance in order to provide optimal governance mechanisms and configurations to practitioners.
