Reconstruction of High-Resolution Facial Image Based on A Recursive Error Back-Projection

  • This paper proposes a new reconstruction method of high-resolution facial image from a low-resolution facial image based on a recursive error back-projection of top-down machine learning. A face is represented by a linear combination of prototypes of shape and texture. With the shape and texture information about the pixels in a given low-resolution facial image, we can estimate optimal coefficients for a linear combination of prototypes of shape and those of texture by solving least square minimization. Then high-resolution facial image can be obtained by using the optimal coefficients for linear combination of the high-resolution prototypes, In addition to, a recursive error back-projection is applied to improve the accuracy of synthesized high-resolution facial image. The encouraging results of the proposed method show that our method can be used to improve the performance of the face recognition by applying our method to reconstruct high-resolution facial images from low-resolution one captured at a distance.

IMPROVING THE ESP ACCURACY WITH COMBINATION OF PROBABILISTIC FORECASTS

  • Aggregating information by combining forecasts from two or more forecasting methods is an alternative to using forecasts from just a single method to improve forecast accuracy. This paper describes the development and use of a monthly inflow forecast model based on an optimal linear combination (OLC) of forecasts derived from naive, persistence, and Ensemble Streamflow Prediction (ESP) forecasts. Using the cross-validation technique, the OLC model made 1-month ahead probabilistic forecasts for the Chungju multi-purpose dam inflows for 15 years. For most of the verification months, the skill associated with the OLC forecast was superior to those drawn from the individual forecast techniques. Therefore this study demonstrates that OLC can improve the accuracy of the ESP forecast, especially during the dry season. This study also examined the value of the OLC forecasts in reservoir operations. Stochastic Dynamic Programming (SDP) derived the optimal operating policy for the Chungju multi-purpose dam operation and the derived policy was simulated using the 15-year observed inflows. The simulation results showed the SDP model that updated its probability from the new OLC forecast provided more efficient operation decisions than the conventional SDP model.

  • 본 논문에서는 계층적 시계열 자료 분석을 위한 대표적인 두 가지 방법인 상향식과 최적조합 예측법을 소개한다. 이러한 예측법은 계층적 시계열을 구성하는 모든 계열을 예측해야 하는 독립적 예측과 달리, 임의의 조정 과정이 없이 하위 계층 계열의 예측값의 합은 항상 상위 계층의 예측값과 일치하게 된다. 또한, 독립적 예측과 비교하여 예측력을 향상시킨다. 계층적 예측법의 효율성을 살펴보기 위하여 국내 16개 시도별 남녀 교통사고 발생건수 시계열 자료를 예측하였다. 이를 통하여 교통사고 발생건수에 대한 각 계층의 예측에서 계층적 방법과 독립적 방법의 차이점 및 우수성을 비교하였다.

  • 목이버섯의 톱밥종균을 제조하는데 참나무톱밥은 영양원으로 미강을 20%첨가하고, 포플러톱밥은 밀기울을 10%첨가하였을 때 목이버섯의 균사와 밀도가 양호하였다. 이때 봉지재배에 적합한 종균 접종양은 참나무톱밥종균은 15 g, 포플러톱밥종균은 25 g를 접종할 때 오염발생률이 줄고 배양완성률이 높아 적합한 접종양 이었다.

A new control approach for seismic control of buildings equipped with active mass damper: Optimal fractional-order brain emotional learning-based intelligent controller

  • The idea of the combination of the fractional-order operators with the brain emotional learning-based intelligent controller (BELBIC) is developed for implementation in seismic-excited structures equipped with active mass damper (AMD). For this purpose, a new design framework of the mentioned combination namely fractional-order BEBIC (FOBELBIC) is proposed based on a modified-teaching-learning-based optimization (MTLBO) algorithm. The seismic performance of the proposed controller is then evaluated for a 15-story building equipped with AMD subjected to two far-field and two near-field earthquakes. An optimal BELBIC based on the MTLBO algorithm is also introduced for comparison purposes. In comparison with the structure equipped with a passive tuned mass damper (TMD), an average reduction of 44.7% and 42.8% are obtained in terms of the maximum absolute and RMS top floor displacement for FOBELBIC, while these reductions are obtained as 30.4% and 30.1% for the optimal BELBIC, respectively. Similarly, the optimal FOBELBIC results in an average reduction of 42.6% and 39.4% in terms of the maximum absolute and RMS top floor acceleration, while these reductions are given as 37.9% and 30.5%, for the optimal BELBIC, respectively. Consequently, the superiority of the FOBELBIC over the BELBIC is concluded in the reduction of maximum and RMS seismic responses.

Beam-rotating machinery system active vibration control using a fuzzy input estimation method and LQG control technique combination

  • This study proposes an active control method to suppress beam-rotating machinery system vibrations. The present control method is a combination of the fuzzy input estimation method (FIEM) and linear quadratic Gaussian problem (LQG) algorithms. The FIEM can estimate the unknown input and optimal states by measuring the dynamic displacement, the optimal estimated states into the feedback control; thereby obtaining the optimal control force for a random linear system. Active vibration control of a beam-rotating machinery system is performed to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can suppress vibrations in a beam-machine system more efficiently than the conventional LQG method.

가계동향조사 지출부문 시계열 연계 방안에 관한 연구 (A study on time series linkage in the Household Income and Expenditure Survey)

  • 가계동향조사는 가구에 대한 가계수지 실태를 파악하여 국민 소득·소비 수준과 그 변화의 측정 및 분석 등을 목적으로 하는 통계청의 대표적인 조사이다. 최근 여러 기관들에서 2017년과 2018년의 가계동향 지출부문에서 발생한 시계열 단절에 대한 문제를 인식하고, 이 기간에 대한 시계열 연계를 위한 관련 연구를 진행하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2016년까지의 가계동향 조사 시계열 특성을 파악하고, 이를 반영하여 2017년과 2018년의 지출액에 대한 시계열을 연계하는 예측값을 도출한다. 본 연구에서는 각 지출 항목들의 시계열적 특성을 골고루 반영하는 동시에 특정 예측 모형의 영향을 줄이기 위하여 총 8개의 회귀모형, 시계열모형, 머신러닝 기법을 합성하여 사용하였다. 특히 본 연구의 주목할 만한 특징은, Top-down 또는 Bottom-up 방식이 아닌, 정보의 손실없이 가계동향조사의 계층 구조를 반영할 수 있는 optimal combination 기법을 사용하여 예측력을 향상시켰다는 점이다. 2017년부터 2019년 자료에 대한 가계동향 지출 부문의 연계 분석 결과, 본 연구가 제안하는 연계 방식이 시계열 단절성 회복 및 예측력 향상에 기여하며, 또한 optimal combination 기법에 의한 계층 조정 후의 예측값이 조사자료에 보다 근접한 결과를 보여줌을 확인하였다.

The Taguchi method by orthogonal array, one of the structured sampling methods, has much advantage that is row cost and time saving for experiments.   • We derived an optimal control of the Stochastic Bilinear Systems. For that we, firstly, formulated stochastic bilinear system and estimated its state when the system state is not directly observable. Optimal control problem of this system is reviewed on the line of three optimization techniques. An optimal control is derived using Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation via dynamic programming method. It consists of combination of linear and quadratic form in the state. This negative feedback control, also, makes the system stable as far as value function is chosen to be a Lyapunov function. Several other properties of this control are discussed.

  • 본 논문에서는 수리가 가능한 시스템에 대하여 혼합보증이 종료된 이후의 교체모형과 예방보전모형을 고려하는데, 만약 보증기간이 종료된 이후에 시스템에 고장이 발생하면 최소수리를 수행한다. 최적의 교체정책과 최적의 예방보전정책을 결정하기 위한 기준으로는 기대비용과 기대비가동시간에 근거한 총밸류함수를 사용한다. 그리고 시스템의 고장시간이 와이블분포를 할 때 수치적 예를 통해서 제안된 최적의 교체정책 및 예방보전정책을 자세히 설명하고자 한다.
