중간 결합층이 적층된 측면연마 광섬유 결합기의 해석 및 결합효율 개선 (Analysis of side-polished fiber couplers with an intermediate-coupling layer and improvement of their coupling efficiency)

  • 상부 도파로와 중간 결합층이 적층된 단일모드 광섬유를 기본구조로 하는 측면 연마 광섬유 결합기를 상호 광 결합이 일어나는 영역을 다층막 도파로로 등가화하여 결합 효율을 해석하였다. 다층막 구조에서 중간 결합층의 유무에 따른 반사도를 계산하여 상부 도파로의 굴절률의 함수로 도시하였고, 상부 도파로의 굴절률이 광섬유 코어의 굴절률보다 클 경우 중간 결합층의 조건에 의해서 광 결합이 증가되어짐을 보였다. 리튬나오베이트를 상부 도파로로 가지는 결합기의 실험결과를 톤해 이론적 해석의 타당함을 보였고 계산 결과와 일치함을 보였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 허프 변환을 이용하여 원통형 수중 물체를 식별하는 방법을 제안한다. 이미 광학분야에서는 타원을 식별하는데 허프 변환을 많이 사용하고 있다. 하지만 수중 영상의 경우 낮은 해상도와 잡음 환경으로 인해서 광학에서 사용하는 허프 변환을 그대로 적용하기가 어렵다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 수중 영상의 원통형 물체를 모델링 한 뒤 평균 필터와 다항식 보간법을 적용하여 허프 변환에 적합한 형태로 원통형 물체의 기하학적 깊이 정보를 다시 복원했다. 결과적으로 이 방법을 이용하여 타원 형태의 기하학적 깊이 정보를 복원하고 허프 변환을 적용한 결과 높은 타원 식별률을 나타내었다.

탄소/탄소 복합재 매트릭스 전구체로서의 메조페이스 핏치의 제조 및 특성에 관한 연구 (Preparation and Characterization of Mesophase Pitches as a Matrix Precursor of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Carbon Composite)

  • A study on mesophase pitch as a matrix precursor of carbon fiber reinforced carbon (C/C) composite has been recently presented. This study is concerned with the production of mesophase pitch as matrix precursors for C/C composite from coal tar pitch. A commercial coal tar pitch was heat-treated at 25$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours to remove low molecular weight fraction from the pitch then increasing the temperature of the pitch to between 350~45$0^{\circ}C$ to produce mesophase pitch. The pitch was continuously stirred during this time and nitrogen gas was continuously bubbled through the pitch. Spherical and bulk mesophases were formed in the pitch after heat-treatment,. Parent and mesophae pitches were characterized by elemental analysis coke yield solubi-lity in tetrahydrofuran and hexane and an optical microscopy to measure the mesiophase content. It was neces-sary to produce C/C composite that a mesophase pitch with about 30-40 vol% mesophase spherulites can be infiltrated into a fiber preform without a filter effect as a matrix precursor conditions. This condition was satisfied with mesophase pitch heat treated at 40$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The other heat treatment conditions showed the nuclei of mesophase or bulk mesophae which were not satisfied with the matix precursor condition.

Development of the Camera System for Total Solar Eclipse

  • Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) has been developing the Camera System for the Total Solar Eclipse (TSE) observation. In 2016 we have assembled a simple camera system consisting of a commercial camera lens, a polarizer, bandpass filters, and a Canon camera to observe the solar corona during the Total Solar Eclipse in Indonesia. For 2017 TSE observation, we have studied and adapted the compact coronagraph design proposed by NASA. The compact coronagraph design dramatically reduces the volume and weight, and used for TSE observation. The camera is used to test and verify key components including function of bandpass filter, polarizer, and CCD during observing the Total Solar Eclipse. In this poster we focus on optical engineering works including designing, analyzing, testing, and building for the TSE observation.

반복적인 위상 랩핑 방법을 이용한 실질적인 암호화 및 복호화 시스템 (Practical Encryption and Decryption System using Iterative Phase Wrapping Method)

  • In this paper, we propose an improved practical encryption and fault-tolerance decryption method using a non-negative value key and random function obtained with a white noise by using iterative phase wrapping method. A phase wrapping operating key, which is generated by the product of arbitrary random phase images and an original phase image. is zero-padded and Fourier transformed. Fourier operating key is then obtained by taking the real-valued data from this Fourier transformed image. Also the random phase wrapping operating key is made from these arbitrary random phase images and the same iterative phase wrapping method. We obtain a Fourier random operating key through the same method in the encryption process. For practical transmission of encryption and decryption keys via Internet, these keys should be intensity maps with non-negative values. The encryption key and the decryption key to meet this requirement are generated by the addition of the absolute of its minimum value to each of Fourier keys, respectively. The decryption based on 2-f setup with spatial filter is simply performed by the inverse Fourier transform of the multiplication between the encryption key and the decryption key and also can be used as a current spatial light modulator technology by phase encoding of the non-negative values. Computer simulations show the validity of the encryption method and the robust decryption system in the proposed technique.

초음속 제트 유동의 정량적 가시화 (Quantitative Visualization of Supersonic Jet Flows)

  • Sonic and supersonic jets include many complicated flow physics associated with shock waves, shear layers, vortices as well as strong interactions among them, and have a variety of engineering applications. Much has been learned from the previous researches on the sonic and supersonic jets but quantitative assessment of these jets is still uneasy due to the high velocity of flow, compressibility effects, and sometimes flow unsteadiness. In the present study, the sonic jets issuing from a convergent nozzle were measured by PIV and Schlieren optical techniques. Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) with Olive oil particles of $1{\mu}m$ was employed to obtain the velocity field of the jets, and the black-white and color Schlieren images were obtained using Xe ramp. A color filter of Blue-Green-Red has been designed for the color Schlieren and obtained from an Ink jet printer. In experiments, two types of sonic nozzles were used at different operating pressure ratios(NPR). The obtained images clearly showed the major features of the jets such as Mach disk, barrel shock waves, jet boundaries, etc.

OOK변조된 가시광 데이터전송에서 바이트반전을 이용한 플리커 방지 (Flicker Prevention Using Byte-Inversion in OOK Modulated Visible Light Data Transmission)

  • 본 논문에서는 가시광을 사용하는 데이터 통신에서 광원의 플리커를 방지하기 위하여 On-off keying(OOK) 변조와 바이트반전 전송방식을 사용하였다. 송신부에서는 100 kHz의 구형파 전압을 부반송파로 사용하여 9.6 kbps의 기저대역 non-return-to-zero (NRZ) 입력데이터를 OOK 변조하고, 데이터의 비트열 형태에 관계없이 LED의 평균 광전력이 항상 일정하게 유지되도록 바이트반전 신호를 부가하여 전송하였다. 수신부에서는 대역통과 필터를 사용하여 주변의 120 Hz 잡음광의 간섭을 소거하고 OOK복조기를 사용하여 NRZ 형태의 원 신호를 복구하였다. 이러한 구조는 가시광 램프의 조명을 이용하여 근거리의 무선데이터 네트워크를 구축하는 데에 유용하다.

홀로그램 정보를 이용한 깊이위치 추출과 3차원 영상인식 (Depth location extraction and three-dimensional image recognition by use of holographic information of an object)

  • 물체의 홀로그램은 물체의 깊이위치에 대한 정보뿐 아니라 물체의 깊이분포에 대한 정보도 가지고 있다. 그러나 두 가지 정보는 프린지 패턴(fringe pattern)의 형태로 서로 썩여있어 홀로그램으로부터 물체의 깊이위치에 대한 정보를 분리해내기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 물체의 깊이 및 위치분포에 대한 정보를 갖는 단일 결띠 홀로그램(single-sideband hologram)으로부터 물체의 깊이위치에 대한 정보만을 가우시안 저-대역 필터를 이용해 추출해내고 그를 수치적 방법으로 해석해 물체의 깊이위치를 얻어내는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 또한 추출된 깊이위치를 이용하여 물체의 깊이위치에서 홀로그램을 복원해낸다.

Time-resolved PIV와 POD기법을 이용한 유량에 따른 단일노즐 버블링 유동 특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of Bubble-driven Flow with Varying Flow Rates by Using Time-resolved PIV and POD Technique)

  • In this paper, the recirculation flow motion and mixing characteristics driven by air bubble flow in a rectangular water tank is studied. The Time-resolved PIV technique is adopted for the quantitative visualization and analysis. 532 nm Diode CW laser is used for illumination and orange fluorescent particle images are acquired by a PCO 10bit high-speed camera. To obtain clean particle images, 545 nm long pass optical filter and an image intensifier are employed and the flow rates of compressed air is changed from 2 l/min to 4 l/min at 0.5 MPa. The recirculation and mixing flow field is further investigated by the POD analysis technique. It is observed that the large scale counterclockwise rotation and main vortex is generated in the upper half depth from the free surface and one quarter width from the sidewall. When the flow rates are increased, the main vortex core is moved to the side and bottom wall direction.

국내 아파트의 미세먼지 유입 특성 (Infiltration Characteristics of Particulate Matter at a Korean Apartment House)

  • Infiltration characteristics of airborne particulate matter had been investigated in real-life for about 90 days over 2 years in a Korean apartment building where a 3-person household had lived and the exclusive private area was 84.9 ㎡. Airtightness was measured by fan depressurization, and the ACH50 was 2.41 times per hour. In and outdoor particle concentrations were measured by optical particle counters. Infiltration factors and filtration efficiencies of the house, which reflect the removal of outdoor particles penetrating building envelope and the deposition inside a building, were obtained from data screened based on an empirical evaluation process. Infiltration factor of fine particles showed a range from about 42% at 0.4 m/s of wind speed to 72% at 4.2 m/s of wind speed with closed windows and doors. Filtration efficiency was like a MERV 13 grade filter with an open window outside at a balcony at low outdoor wind speed under 1 m/s. The grade decreased to MERV 11 by opening another outside window at the other balcony. Filtration efficiencies decreased as much as 29% in average at a range of 0.3~2.5 ㎛.
