Numerical Analysis of the Electromagnetic Waves scattered from a dielectric sphere by the BEM (경계요소법에 의한 3차원 유전체 구의 산란파 수치해석)

  • Boundary element method using linear basis function is applied to obtain fields scattered from a 3-D dielectric sphere. Electric field integral equation is used on the surfaces of the dielectric material where its surface is discretized into trilateral cells. For plane wave incidence, scattered fields by a dielectric sphere is calculated and compared with its analytic solution. The total electric fields are calculated on the great circle of the sphere boundary as well as the outside of the sphere in the plane of the wave vector and the polarization vector of the incident electric field.

  • A direct laser lithography system is widely used to fabricate various types of DOEs (Diffractive Optical Elements) including lenses made as CGH (Computer Generated Hologram). However, a parametric study that uniformly and precisely fabricates the diffractive patterns on a large area (up to $200mm{\times}200mm$) has not yet been reported. In this paper, four parameters (Focal Position Error, Intensity Variation of the Lithographic Beam, Patterning Speed, and Etching Time) were considered for stabilization of the direct laser lithography system, and the experimental results were presented.

Volume Holographic Fingerprint Recognition System for Personal Identification (개인 인증을 위한 체적 홀로그래픽 지문인식 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a volume holographic fingerprint recognition system based on optical correlator for personal identification. Optical correlator has high speed and parallel processing characteristics of optics. Matched filters are recorded into a volume hologram that can store data with high density, transfer them with high speed, and select a randomly chosen data element. The multiple reference images of database are prerecorded in a photorefractive crystal in the form of Fourier transform images, simply by passing the image displayed in a spatial light modulator through a Fourier transform lens. The angular multiplexing method for multiple holograms of database can be achieved by rotating the crystal by use of a step motor. Experimental results show that the proposed system can be used for the security verification system.

  • The objectives of this study are to examine the variation of flame chemiluminescence on flame condition and to evaluate the possibility to apply the optical sensor for air/fuel ratio control. Flame chemiluminescence is one of the most important factor to judge the real time flame condition like a air/fuel ratio. In this paper, it is experimentally found that a strong relationship between the air/fuel ratio and optical element output (i.e., photo diode) should be existed. This is verified through the flame spectral analysis for various PD output signal.

  • In this paper, three dimensional Equivalent Magnetic Circuit Method(3-D EMCN method) a numerical analysis method which supplements to magnetic equivalent circuit adding numerical technique, is proposed for analysis Optical Pickup Actuator. (3) This method provides better characteristics both in precision of the analysis and in computation time than other analysis method such as three-dimensional Finite Element Method. We choose the simple 2-magnet moving coil type pickup actuator model and verify upper yoke effect using this method.

  • In this paper, for the curvature correction on the scanning plane in laser scanning system, aberration correction method using holographic optical element is suggested. Holoens is selected as a type of holographic zone plate which has aberration correction property. And hologram recording condition is analyzed to find fo property. This hololens is implemented by computer-generated hologram technique. Laser scanning system is organized using desinged hololens and scanning properties of this system are investigated. Using this method optical system structure in laser scanning system can be simplified satisfying both scan linearity and field flatness.

  • This study is for aspheric lens that is one of a core technology in the optical industry. The feature of a aspheric lens is not to have the spheric aberration. So in optical industry, aspheric lens are essential element to miniaturization, high effectiveness and light weight. In this study we applied a lay back-tracer method using the index of refraction to design aspheric lens. We developed the automatic design program for aspheric lens by user interfacing program VisualLISP in AutoCAD. And we manufactured aspheric lens and measured it.

  • With the advance of precision technique, the optical system is more precise and complex and the machining method of optical element which is composed of micro-grooves is developed. Especially, the method of micro-grooving using diamond tool is used widely owing to many merit, but has problems of damage of surface roughness due to tool wear and tool fracture. This paper deals with state monitoring using AE RMS in the micro-grooving. The change of AE RMS is very small with increment of cutting velocity and depth of cut. In spite of constance magnitude of principal force in machining using diamond tool of tool wear and tool fracture, AE RMS is highly fluctuated. Because changing of cutting state has relevance to surface roughness profile, surface toughness profile is expected using AE RMS.

  • Spindle state monitoring is getting more and more important according to the technology trend of spindle that is accurate and automated. Spindle state monitoring is to measure the state of rotation vibrations. The spindle rotation error motion detected by sensing device includes rotation object's unbalance, external forced vibrations, shape error of spindle, as well as measuring error of monitoring device. In this paper, we have inspected the runout characteristics. Also, we introduce the way to exclude the runout element that appear while you monitor a spindle state.

  • Servo performance of a disk drive is greatly affected by the mechanical resonance frequencies of the head gimbal assembly(HGA). It is important (actor to allow broader bandwidth for servo system in improving overall drive performance. In this paper, an optimal design for ODD suspension is attempted to increase resonance frequencies. It was decided that the first resonant frequency in tracking direction was higher than 5㎑.
