  • This paper describes the digital relay simulator by use of DSP for digital relay test. The simulator software has EMTP simulation data file conversion. user define simulation data generation. data analysis engine. etc. The simulator hardware design uses 32bit floating point DSP architecture to achivev flexibility and high speed operation.

A Study on Performance Improvement of the Motion Drive of a Card Vending Machine (카드자판기 구동부의 성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Earlier models of card vending machines have generally motion drives with high cost and large size. However, current trend in card vending machines requires low-cost, compact-sized and readily installable motion drives. This paper shows the operational principle of the motion drive of a card vending machine and then presents the performance test results of the motion drive with improved mechanisms proposed in the paper. The results show that the proposed mechanism is valid and improves the card dispensing performance. The proposed model in the paper is accepted and introduced in the actual production line.

  • The weight reduction of carbody stl1lctures is of great concern in developing high speed tilting train for the normal operation of tilting system. The use of composite materials for the carbody structures has many advantages due to their excellent material propel1ies. In this paper, finite element analysis was conducted to verify the safety of the composite structures of Tilting Train eXpress(TTX). A train prototype with carbon/epoxy composite carbody was manufactured to perform static loading tests according to JIS E 7105. The loading tests were simulated by FE analysis to compare with the test results. To obtain more accurate and detailed result of stress distribution in local region of carbody, the submodeling approach was used. The submodeling analysis results showed the high levels of stress concentration occured on window frame part of TTX as the loading test results did.

  • The demand of LNG in Korea has dramatically increased since it was first imported in 1986. Thus, more LNG storage tanks are required to meet the growing consumption of LNG. However the design, construction, and analysis of LNG storage facility need highly advanced technology compared to the general structures due to the fluid-structure interaction and the low temperature of LNG. Recently Korea Gas Corporation(KOGAS) constructed a pilot LNG storage tank, and it is in operation to develop and accumulate the core technology. As a part of those objects, the fundamental dynamic test for the pilot tank were performed. For this study, dynamic test were carried out and the dynamic characteristics of the pilot tank were verified and analyzed.

  • The railroad is a means of large transportation which has many latents such as a safety and a regularity. That is a results from various confidential performance tests and evaluations of the system. The railroad system consist of various subsystems - vehicle, power supply, signal, communications, track structures, operations, etc. Among them, as an item of safety evaluation there is a measurement of wheel/rail force, so called a measurement of derailment coefficient. This is a very important item because a derailment of a train will bring about a big accident. Especially it is more important in high speed rail of which operation speed is over two times as fast as existing rail. In this paper, it is introduced to preprocess the wheelset for measuring wheel/rail force of high speed rail, such as to treat a measuring wheelset, its finite element analysis, adhesion of strain gauges and static toad test, running test result of main line.

  • Increase energy costs have placed demands for improved combustion efficiency, high equipment availability, low maintenance and safe operation. Simultaneously low NOx modification, installed due to stricter environmental legislation, require very careful combustion management. We aimed at gaining the relationship between burner flame image and emissions such as NOx and unburned carbon in furnace by utilizing the image processing method. For the first step of development, its possibility test was undertaken with bench furnace. The test proceeded to the second step with pilot furnace, the system was observed to be effective for evaluating the combustion conditions. By using this technology, it is possible to perform continuous monitoring of the combustion conditions and instant detection of individual changes for each burner to prevent future loss of ignition.

  • Nowadays, the equipment for a semiconductor process is required to raise accuracy and productivity. Therefore, the natural frequency of the equipment has been lowered because it has been precise, rapid, large, and light. In order to improve the efficiency of production, it is necessary for the equipment to increase the operation speed, which causes inevitable vibration problems. In this paper, influence analysis of ball-screw in the equipment and evaluation method for the vibration on the base are presented based on the analyses of dynamic characteristics for the mechanical structure through the modal test.

  • The tilting trains can run curve track about 30% faster than conventional train without affecting passenger comfort. As the tilting trains offer the optimum means of providing faster and more comfortable rail service with minimum of environmental disturbance and capital investment, it is widely adopted for commercial operation all over the world. Over several years, the Korea Railroad Research Institute(KRRI) and Ministry of Construction and Transportation(MOCT) have been developing 200 km/h Korean tilting train, Hanvit200. Hanvit200 adopt the pendulum type tilting mechanism and hybrid car body structure, mainly CFRP combined with steel. In this paper the vibrational characteristics of Hanvit200 was investigated through Eigen vector analysis, Modal Test and main line running test.

  • In this paper we study on a method to predict and to demonstrate the reliability of the Korea high speed train control system in quantitative point of view. For the prediction of the reliability in train control system which is composed of electronic parts, Relax Software 7.7 automation tool is employed and MIL-HDBK-217 Handbook that is a standard for the prediction of the failure rate in electronic components is used. Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) is predicted based on the failure rate of the subsystems, State Modeling and Markov Modeling method is used to express a reliability function of the train control system composed by hardware redundancy as a function of time. We propose a Reliability Test which is performed on the level of the subsystems and Failure Report, Analysing, Correction action system which use the test operation data to prove the predicted reliability.

  • Rubber spring is used in primary suspension system for railway vehicle. This rubber spring has function which reduce vibration and noise, support the load carried in operation of rail vehicle. The non-linear properties of rubber which are described as strain energy function are important parameter to design and evaluate of rubber components. These are determined by material tests which are tension, compression and shear test. The behaviors of load-displacement of rubber spring for rail vehicle are evaluated by using commercial FEA code. It is shown that the results by FEA simulations are in close agreement with the test results
