  • This paper describes the design and implementation of C standard library for real-time operating system Q+, that is being developed for the internet appliance. The C library in the real-time operating system should be defined according to the standard interface and support the concurrent execution of threads. The implemented C standard library is reentrant and follows POSIX.l standard interface. And, the C standard library functions, which are adequate to the Q+ application and commonly provided by commercial real-time operating systems, are selected among POSIX.l standard functions. The C standard library is implemented on the Q+ kernel and D-TV set-top box according to the implementation sequence, which is determined by analyzing the relation of function calls.

  • Developers generally use test standards suggested by military standards such as MIL-STD-810G when performing vibration tests in the materiel development. However, according to MIL-STD-810G, it is recommended to test by tailoring the test standard suitable for the developed materiel, and it is specified to apply the suggested test standard only when there is difficulty in tailoring. In addition, the test standards presented by MIL-STD-810G are standards created under operating conditions different from the actual operating environment of each developed materiel, so the test according to this standard may be excessive or understated. Therefore, the developer must create an appropriate vibration test standard for the developed materiel as similar to the operating conditions as possible. In this paper, the procedure for creating the functional test standard and durability test standard suitable for the operating environment of the equipment to be mounted on the propeller aircraft under development is described, and the created standard is introduced.

  • As use of construction equipment has been increasing continuingly, the proportion of equipment expense to the total construction cost has become higher. However, there is a difference between the equipment expenses section in 'Poom-Sam' and practical data, because 'Poom-sam' does not consider non-working days due to weather conditions, legal holidays and management conditions. Therefore, 'Poom-Sam' does not present a reasonable standard for estimating construction equipment expenses. In this study, to estimate realistic construction equipment operating hours, firstly, construction equipment was classified according to work, and weather conditions, in which each work could not be executed, were established. Then, weather data on Seoul and Busan($2004{\sim}2006$) and legal holidays were analyzed to suggest annual standard operating hours. The annual standard operating hours of earthmoving & excavating, compaction, and drilling equipment was estimated to be 1,430 hours, and lifting equipment, concrete paving equipment, asphalt paving equipment, concrete equipment, and crushing & conveying equipment were estimated to be 2,124 hours, 1,156hours, 1,188hours, 1,688hours, and 2,152hours respectively.

  • Three-dimensional (3D) video exoscopes are high-magnification stereo cameras that project onto monitors mounted in the operating room, viewable from different angles. Outside of plastic surgery, exoscopes have been shown to successfully improve the ergonomics of microsurgery, though sometimes with prolonged operating times. We compare a single surgeon's early experience performing free flap procedures from 2020 to 2021 using either a binocular microscope or a 3D video exoscope. Ten procedures were performed with the standard operating microscope and 8 procedures with the 3D exoscope. The microsurgeon, having minimal prior experience using an exoscope, reported less neck discomfort following the free flap procedures performed with the exoscope compared with the binocular surgical microscope. Total average operating time was comparable between the standard surgical microscope and the 3D exoscope (13.7 vs. 13.4 hours, p = 0.34). Our early experience using a 3D exoscope in place of a standard optical microscope demonstrated that the exoscope shows promise, offering an ergonomic alternative during microvascular reconstruction without increasing overall operating times. Future studies will compare free flap ischemia time between cases performed using the exoscope and the conventional binocular microscope. Medical Subject Headings authorized following words: free tissue flaps; operating rooms; ergonomics; microsurgery.

  • Technology standards have gained importance as global market becomes more competitive. Since a technology acknowledged as a standard brings significant benefits to the developer firm, firms in the IT industry tend to pursue standardization for the technology, being it proprietary or open. However, the paths or strategic implications are seldom discussed in academia. Therefore, our study uses iPhone of Apple, one of the proprietary standards successes, to further understand corporate strategies over two standard choices. Our case study suggests that iPhone's entry timing was optimal for creating a new mobile environment. Design excellence and user-friendly interface increased networking effects and switching costs among consumers. Apple developed independent mobile operating system (iOS) through improvement on the existing operating system. During the process, Apple chose proprietary standard and, by installing the same UX on its sibling products such as iPod Touch or iPad, overcame the subsequent problems that might arise from the limited use of iOS. Based on the capability of concurrently developing both hardware and software, Apple connected operating system, machine, and contents, which deems to contribute to its proprietary standards success. We argue that this strategy should be considered for firms which plan proprietary standard strategy.

  • In this paper, we proposed an architecture for supporting sensor transparency in sensor node operating systems, design the standard APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and sensor device abstraction to provide the sensor transparency and implemented the sensor transparency in the TinyOS, the most well known sensor node operating system. With the proposed sensor node operating system which can support the sensor transparency, application developers can develop the target applications independent to each sensor device by using the standard APIs provided by the sensor node operating system and the sensor device manufacturers also can develop sensor device drivers by using the standard hardware interfaces and HAL (Hardware Adaptation Layer) interfaces independent to the specific hardware platform of sensor nodes.

  • This paper deals with a procedure of changing the current inspection & replacement periods for ROKAF aircraft parts. ROKAF is mostly operating aircraft of foreign makes, and takes maintenance actions according to Technical Orders(TO.) published by foreign aircraft manufacturers. Therefore ROKAF inspects and replaces specific parts at the time noticed from T.O.. These inspection and replacement periods are determined by manufacturers according to the standard operating environment and parts' durability. But the standard operating environment Is different from operator's environment. Because of this difference, the inspection and replacement periods have to be changed according to operators' operation environment. It is resonable that the manufacturer, having design materials and life test data of parts, changes those periods together with materials of operators' operation environment. But we have many difficulties in obtaining the design materials and life test data. Then this paper proposes a procedure of changing the periods of aircraft's parts with life data obtained during operating aircraft. For the reliability analysis, a software of RELEST (Reliability Estimation Version 1.0) is used.

  • As the products of internet appliance, such as digital TV, internet set-top box, and internet phone, are continually produced, the market of real time operating system which controls those products is being highly increased. ETRI developed the extensible real time operating system, Qplus-P, which can be used from PDA to internet set-top box and home server. This paper describes the design and implementation of C standard library for real-time operating system Qplus-P. The Qplus-P C standard library follows EL/IX API level, which is proposed to the real-time operating system international standard by the RedHat. And, the C standard library functions, which are needed to support the Tiny-X and Kaffe, are also implemented. The implemented C standard library can reduce the size of library about 30% compare to the C library that does not follow EL/IX API level.
