The aircraft has to be considered for safety very importantly because of peculiarity of flight in the air, so it should be retained through proper inspection and maintenance not only in production phase but also in operating phase. Recently, it is using the latest technology as engineering approach not depending on human factor to determine on maintenance needs, and domestic production rotary aircraft also has the health & usage monitoring system to measure and to monitor major components. However, continued vibration exceedance phenomenon occurred in production and operation phase because of inappropriate thresholds, and it confirmed as false alarm which is not necessary to repair. In this paper, it is described that operational concept of HUMS, and especially it contains a study result for efficiency of aircraft operation and ultimately the improvement of flight safety by optimizing HUMS thresholds to determine efficiently necessity of maintenance under limited conditions and by establishing inspection/maintenance procedures when the re-designated thresholds exceedance occurred.

In order to build a general model of a high-throughput uranium electrorefining process according to the electrode configuration, numerical analysis was conducted using the COMSOL Multiphysics V5.3 electrodeposition module with Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) interfaces. The generated model was validated by comparing a current density-potential curve according to the distance between the anode and cathode and the electrode array, using a lab-scale (1kg U/day) multi-electrode electrorefiner made by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). The operating temperature was $500^{\circ}C$ and LiCl-KCl eutectic with 3.5wt% $UCl_3$ was used for molten salt. The efficiency of the uranium electrorefining apparatus was improved by lowering the cell potential as the distance between the electrodes decreased and the anode/cathode area ratio increased. This approach will be useful for constructing database for safety design of high throughput spent nuclear fuel electrorefiners.

In this study, the effects of biofilter media type (three different activated carbons and anthracite), empty bed contact time (EBCT) and temperature on the removal of four aldehyde species (formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, glyoxal and methylglyoxal) in BAC filters were investigated. Experiments were conducted at three water temperature (5, 15 and $25^{\circ}C$) and four EBCTs (5, 10, 15, and 20 min). The experimental results indicated that the coal based BAC retained more bacterial biomass on the surface of the activated carbon than the other BACs, and increasing EBCT or increasing water temperature also increased the four aldehyde species removal in BAC filters. To achieve above 80% of removal efficiency for four aldehyde species in a BAC filter, above 15 min EBCT at $5^{\circ}C$ and 10 min EBCT at above $15^{\circ}C$ were required. The kinetic analysis indicated a first-order reaction rate for the biodegradation of four aldehyde species at various water temperatures. Data obtained from the BAC filters at various temperatures were also used to evaluate pseudo first-order rate constants for four aldehyde species. The half-lives evaluated for formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, glyoxal and methylglyoxal in the coal-based BAC ranging from 0.89 to 3.19 min, from 0.75 to 3.35 min, from 2.16 to 4.72 min and from 1.49 to 3.86 min, respectively, could be used to assist water utilities in designing and operating BAC filters.

Disasters have been diversifying and the scale of disaster has been increasing worldwide due to the global warming and urbanization. Consequently, it is essential to establish the systematic disaster management because the scale of damages has been rapidly increasing. Nowadays, the importance of the standardized disaster management have been realized internationally due to the 9.11 terror and Tsunami. Also, the activities of research and development to utilize and establish the disaster management standards have been increasing. This study mainly focused on generating an efficient operating manual to support the systematic disaster management of the central administration office based on disaster management standard in South Korea. Firstly, the activities and status of disaster management performed by the central administration office were investigated. Accordingly, libraries of work, functions, organizations, references and behavior for disaster management were designed. Then, a method to make the efficient operation manual based on the constructed libraries was presented to maximize the efficiency of disaster management. This emergency operation manual could support the systematic disaster management by defining the work, function, references and the codes of conduct. Thus, central administration office would be able to define methods and procedures from preparation to recovery through the utilization of the operation manual.
This study aims to draw the characteristics of the regional operation system of the shared research instrument service, which contributes to the R&D investment efficiency by the avoidance of duplicated research instrument investment and the enhancement of the network collaboration. So from the perspective of technology infrastructure policy and regional innovation system, Gyeonggi region of Korean metropolitan area has been analyzed for the case study. The case study has been conducted by 2 step process of within-case analysis and cross-case analysis. Firstly, the characteristics of operation system of the shared research instrument have been examined through various research methods. Secondly, in the cross-case analysis, the examined issues and problems have been organized by the matrix of 3 organizational governance characteristics and 4 issues to facilitate the regional policy approach. The issues deducted by the cross-case analysis have been deducted as (1) 'usage fee charge system', 'relevant method for the performance index and measurement of the instrument service management' for the regional policy led case, (2) 'performance management issue', 'financial and managerial accounting system for the instrument operating division', and 'change of budget support scheme' for the joint operation case and lastly (3) 'usage facilitation after the expiration of research lab support project' for the university led case.

A combined process consisted of a biofilm reactor and a continuously stirred-tank reactor (CSTR) was investigated for highly loaded ammonium wastewater treatment via nitrite accumulation. To enhance ammonium oxidizing bacteria over nitrite oxidizing bacteria on the surface of carriers, the biofilm reactor was operated at temperature of $35^{\circ}C$ for more than three months but the influent ammonium (500 mg-N/L) was partially oxidized to nitrite (240 mg-N/L). As pH was increased from 7.5 to 8.0, nitrite accumulation was fully achieved due to the inhibition of nitrite oxidizing bacteria under high free ammonia concentration. The biofilm reactor performance was severely deteriorated at the hydraulic retention time of 12 hr, at which incomplete nitrification of ammonia was observed. Various solubilization methods were applied to sewage sludge for enhancing its biodegradability and the combined method, alkaline followed by ultrasonic, gave the highest solubilization efficiency (58%); the solubilized solution was used as the external carbon source for denitrification reaction in CSTR. FISH analysis showed that the dominant microorganisms on the carriers were ammonium oxidizing bacteria such as Nitrosomonas spp. and Nitrospirar spp. but low amounts of nitrite oxidizing bacteria as Nitrobacter spp. was also detected.
The purpose of this study were to :(a) investigate meal costs, plate waste costs, and advantages/disadvantages of conventional /commissary foodservices and (b) compare the effectiveness of commissary foodservice systems with that of conventional systems. Questionnaires were developed and mailed to 136 schools in Kyonggi-do. A total of 106 questionnaires were usable, resulting in a 77.9% response rate. Teacher's teaching of good food habits and students satisfaction with school foodservices were surveyed in three schools from each system. Moreover, plate waste was measured to express cost and benefit in currency. Data were analyzed using the SAS package for description analysis, t-test, $\chi$$^2$ test, ANOVA, and the Vilcoxon rank sum test. Approximately seventy percent of 294schools in Kyonggi-do were operating commissary systems and most of them were of the rural (reduced paid) type. The number of meals served varied significantly between types of foodservice. The results of this study indicated that average food , labor utility , and supply costs were saved in the commissary system and that the total meal cost/person for a day was 1218.7 won compared to 1452.4 won in the conventional system. Though total meal costs were saved in the commissary system, dietitians had difficulties cooperating with school foodservice committees and supporters associations, especially in satellites of the commissary system. In addition, dietitians and teachers in the commissary system did not carry out teaching activities on good food habits to students as often as in the conventional system. Other problems that dietitians recognized in the commissary system were difficulties in training employees and parents for portion control and serving relatively simple menus. Students, as customers of school foodservices, are very important for system evaluation . Students in the commissary system scored of food itself , cleanliness of tableware, waiting time, quantity of meal and food temperature significantly lower than students in the conventional system. Moreover , the rate of plate waste was 20.5% in the commissary system as compared to 3.3% in the conventional system. Cost-effectiveness (saving 233.7won/person/day) is the main benefit of the commissary system. However , because of lower satisfaction scores and a highest plate waste rate, 201.9won/ person were wasted in the commissary system. The results of this study suggest that increasing the number of meals served within a commissary system might maximize the efficiency of the system, but increasing the number of satellites is not recommended because it might be out of dietitians control in many aspects.

In this paper, we propose Low Energy Service Discovery (LESD) protocol for common discovery mode of IEEE 802.15.8 Peer Aware Communications (PAC). In order to minimize power consumption, Basic Repetition Block (BRB) is defined. Device is able to select operating mode and synchronize other devices through it. Proposed MAC procedure is Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) based on overhearing technique. Even if device has not been received response signal since transmitted request signal, it is able to discover other devices of same group through the overhearing technique. IEEE 802.15.8 PAC has required that performances of common discovery mode are presented about discovered devices during the simulation time, discovery latency and average power consumption. By considering the number of devices per group and channel environment, two scenarios are evaluated through system level simulation and the simulation results of proposed scheme are compared with CSMA/CA in same simulation conditions. As a result, proposed scheme is able to get high energy efficiency of devices as well as increase the number of discovered devices during simulation time when the longer the number of devices is distributed over a limited area.
This purpose of this paper was to review the development trend of the VTOL MAVs with a ducted propellant that can fly like the VTOL at intermediate and high speeds, hovering, landing, and lifting off vertically over urban areas, warships, bridges, and mountainous terrains. The MAV differs in flight characteristics from helicopters and fixed wings in many respects. In addition to enhancing thrust, the duct protects personnel from accidental contact with the spinning rotor. The purpose of the U.S. Army FCS and DARPA's OAV program is spurring development of a the VTOL ducted MAV. Today's MAVs are equipped with video/infrared cameras to hover-and-stare at enemies hidden behind forests and hills for approximately one hour surveillance and reconnaissance. Class-I is a VTOL ducted MAV developed in size and weight that individual soldiers can store in their backpacks. Class-II is the development of an organic VTOL ducted fan MAV with twice the operating time and a wider range of flight than Class-I. MAVs will need to develop to perch-and-stare technology for lengthy operation on the current hover-and-stare. The near future OAV's concept is to expand its mission capability and efficiency with a joint operation that automatically lifts-off, lands, refuels, and recharges on the vehicle's landing pad while the manned-unmanned ground vehicle is in operation. A ducted MAV needs the development of highly accurate relative position technology using low cost and small GPS for automatic lift-off and landing on the landing pad. There is also a need to develop a common command and control architecture that enables the cooperative operation of organisms between a VTOL ducted MAV and a manned-unmanned ground vehicle.
