  • There has been much interest in the VWorld open platform with the addition of a variety of contents or services such as 2D map, 3D terrain, 3D buildings, and thematic map since 2012. However, the VWorld system architecture was not stable for the system overload. For example, the system was stopped due to the rapidly increasing user accesses when the 3D terrain service of the North Korea and the Baekdu mountain was launched at September 2012 and September 2013, respectively. It was because the system architect has just extended the server system and the network bandwidth whenever the rapid increase of user accesses occurs or new service starts. Therefore, this study proposes a new VWorld system architecture that can reliably serve the huge volume of National Spatial Data by applying the new technologies such as CDN, visualization and clustering. Finally, it is expected that the results of this study can be used as a basis for the next VWorld system architecture being capable of a huge volume of spatial data and users.

  • In this paper, we design and implement the Walking Life Festival application, which is based on the Android platform and provides information about domestic travel destinations and regional festivals in South Korea. This application utilizes various sensors found in smartphones, including the Step Counter sensor, Step Detector sensor, Acceleration sensor, and GPS sensor. Additionally, it makes use of Google Map API and Public Open API to offer information about domestic travel destinations and local festivals. The application also incorporates an automatic login feature using the Shared Preference API. When storing login information in the database, it encrypts the input plaintext data using a hash algorithm. For Google Maps integration, it creates objects using the Google.maps.LatLngBounds() method and extends the location information through the extends method. Furthermore, this application contributes to the activation of the domestic tourism industry by notifying users about the timing of local festivals related to domestic travel destinations, thus increasing their opportunities to participate in these festivals.

  • In recent years, the attention on the applications of the national or international standards to water-related information technology in practice has more increased. In particular, as the demand on spatial information technology including content development, receiving, disposal and distribution has increased, the importance of standardization has been also emphasized. However, compared with attention and demand on standardization in spatial information technology, studies on development and application of standardization are still at the initial stage. Accordingly, this study attempted to investigate the trends of international standards developed and established by International Organization for Standardization(ISO) and Open Geospatial Consortium(OGC), and to derive the adaptable integrated management standard technology for water hazard information platform. For this, we investigated big data, NoSQL, and cloud technology for the observed data provision. Furthermore, OGC WxS standard technologies for spatial information web service and ISO standards for spatial information format were investigated. Based on these investigations, we examined the strategies and plans to apply and establish the standardization for information provision.
