  • This study describes the design and implementation of web based collaborative learning system to improve interactivity among learners. Based on suggestions from previous studies, the system is composed of three main parts : the community module, the learning module, and the administrative module. The study participants were 254 university students from two different institutions. They were divided into 43 groups and asked to complete an online TOEIC preparation module using the learning system over 4 weeks. Survey data were collected at three points from each participant-before and 3 weeks after the beginning of the online module and at the completion of the module. The result indicates that the usage of this system is positively related to the learners' collaborative learning activities, the level of sense of community, and learner satisfaction both at the individual and group levels.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate middle and high school mathematics teachers' levels and multiple approaches in United States practicing their abstraction levels and, different strategies and method of solutions towards given number theory problems. The mathematics teachers taking part in this study are consisted of 25 members of online graduate and undergraduate course (MAE 5641 and MAE 4813) delivered through Online Learning System called as the Blackboard (http://www.blackboard.com). Data collection methods include journal entries, written solutions to problems, the teachers' reflections on said problems, and post interviews. Data analysis was done based on [Hazzan, O. & Zazkis, R. (2005). Reducing abstraction: The case of school mathematics. Educ. Stud. Math. 58(1), 101-119]. Analysis of students' written solutions revealed that transitions among the solution methods have major effect on abstraction levels. Elevation and reducing abstraction is a dynamic process.

  • The present study examines whether consumers' perception of waiting time and their behavioral intentions are influenced by the presence of background music in an online shopping environment. In particular, this study aims to explain the underlying mechanism for the effects of background music on consumers' perceived wait and behavioral intentions toward the online retailer by proposing the mediating role of emotions drawing on the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework. A lab experiment was employed to test the hypotheses. A total of 102 college students were used for data analyses. Results show that the presence of music has a significant impact on participants' emotions, perceived waiting time, and approach behavior. Moreover, the findings show that pleasure and the perceived waiting time serve as mediators in the relationship between the presence of music and approach behavior. Implications of the model for theory, practice, and further research are discussed.

  • In our current information-based society in which knowledge is a fundamental asset to production, the capability to utilize information and produce knowledge with the use of information technology (IT) has become essential to learning. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have recently been introduced in light of such changes and are recognized as an alternative to open education. MOOCs' capabilities are being acknowledged in lifelong education in terms of reeducation and knowledge sharing, and also in terms of improving teaching quality, and improving university students' levels of creativity and integrated thinking by supporting high-level content and teaching. Therefore, this study presents an extended research model that combines information system (IS) continuance and task-technology fit models. Our study researches previous literature, revealing factors of continuous use after accepting MOOCs from the learner's perspective, and analyzes the model empirically. The ideal environment for MOOCs learners is evaluated, and a strategic approach to the successful settlement and diffusion of MOOCs is presented based on this study's findings.

  • Recently, Flipped Learning is attracting attention as a method for qualitative growth of university education. Flipped Learning is a kind of computer based education and consisted of online video lectures and offline student activities. This paper introduces the results of applying Flipped Learning for one semester to Korean linguistic norms course. As for this course, the contents related to the knowledge and information were provided individually before the class through online video, and the offline classes focused on student-led activities. When qualitatively evaluating the results of the course, students developed a more comprehensive and flexible mind set beyond the preexisting normative attitudes and showed increase in analytical and critical thinking in understanding the principles of linguistic norms and spelling system. According to these results we argue that it is necessary to actively adopt Flipped Learning in the humanities education, including the grammar classes.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify how users react with the search options and bibliographic information during search reformulation on the online catalog. Two online catalogs(N0TIS system and Dynix system) were selected and undergraduate students were recruited as the participants for this study. The study shows that the search options and bibliographic information affected the type of the query reformulation and the re-choice of the search options during search.

  • This paper develops the research model for the understanding of learner's usage intention in web based collaborative learning(WBCL) system. This model is based on the Davis' Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) and Social Interactivity Theory. Data is collected 225 University students from two different institutions. They were divided into 46 groups and asked to complete an online TOEIC preparation module using WBCL systems over 4 weeks. Data were collected at three points for each participant-before, 3 weeks after, and at the end of the online module. The result show that TAM based Belief factors(Usefulness, Ease of use, Playfulenss) are important determinants of usage intention in WBCL systems. The study also found the external factors of the extended TAM to be subjective norm, leader's enthusiasm in WBCL context.

  • With the advancement of the 4th Industrial Revolution(4IR), microprocessor education is on the rise due to the explosive demand for IoT (Internet of Things) and M2M devices. However, it is difficult due to many constraints to efficiently transfer training on hardware assembly and implementation through online training. Thus, we developed a cost-effective online content based on Arduino simulations, Atmel Studio 7, and WinAvr simulator that are required for the utilization of AVR 128. These Camtasia videos overcame the limitation of theory focused on-line education by visually introducing the practical utilization of an actual AVR 128. In this paper, the proposed educational content was provided to university students, and the results of student feedback show that it has a strong effect.

  • Due to the prolonged Covid-19, online learning has become an essential learning, not an option. In this reality, online learning method that depends on passive video viewing have limitations of poor academic performance and low learning achievement for students. In this work, to overcome these limitations, we apply PSC-Note to the PBL teaching method to improve learners' problem-solving and self-directed learning skills and also improve learning achievement.
