The Antecedents of Negative e-WOM and Their Effects on Purchasing Intention of Energy Drinks: An Empirical Study in Indonesia

  • The aim of this study is to fill gaps in emerging empirical evidence and negative electronic word of mouth (NeWOM) in repurchase intention (RI) moderated by the roles of social network sites (SNS) and company mitigation response (CMR). This type of research is descriptive. The sample used in this study is online consumers who buy energy drinks, based on the questionnaire obtained by 145 respondents. Based on the results of testing the estimation of the structural equation model, it was found that the negative variable brand experience sharing had no significant effect on NeWOM; the negative variable electronic reviews had a significant effect on the electronic word of mouth variable, the negative variable electronic reviews had a significant effect on the negative electronic variable word of mouth, the variable intensity of the use of social networking sites can strengthen the direction of the causal influence between the negative variables sharing brand experiences on negative electronic words of mouth. The variable social networking sites usage intensity can strengthen the direction of the effect of causality between negative electronic review variables on negative electronic word of mouth, the negative brand experience sharing variable does not have a significant effect on the repurchase intention variable.

The Roles of Social Competence and Outcome Expectancy in Predicting Communication Activities on Social Networking Sites

  • Previous research has provided inconsistent findings as to whether socially (in)competent individuals benefit from social networking sites (SNSs) use. Based on the rich-get-richer model, some studies have shown that socially competent individuals expand their existing networks even further via SNSs use. Based on the poor-get-richer model, other studies have shown that those with poor social skills can achieve beneficiary outcomes from SNSs use by overcoming their deficient social resources of offline environments. The present study is devised to add evidence regarding how and why social skills are related to SNSs use. To this end, we tested the relationships between social competence and three types of Facebook communication activities: interaction, self-presentation, and passive observation. Further, drawing on the social cognitive theory, the mediating role of outcome expectancy in the relationship between social competence and Facebook communication activities was examined. Using an online survey in South Korea (N = 708), it was found that individuals with higher social competence were more likely than those with lower social competence to engage in interaction, self-presentation, passive observation on Facebook. Moreover, these relationships were mediated by outcome expectancy that the desired social outcomes could be achieved as a result of Facebook use.

  • 스마트기기 대중화에 따른 소셜 네트워크 서비스의 폭발적인 증가로 온라인상의 관계와 활동이 오프라인상의 실생활까지 영향을 미침에 따라 온라인상의 소셜 네트워크 활동에 대한 관심과 중요성이 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 SNS 활동에 영향을 미치는 요소를 대상(object, 사용자(User), 영향력 방향(Influence direction), 영향력 강도(Influence distance) 4가지 요소로 정의하고 SNS 사용자 상호간 영향을 유기적 관점에서 측정하는 방법을 제안하였다. 기존 영향력 측정 요소를 반응횟수, 친구의 수, 접촉횟수 등 정형 데이터와 원인시간과 반응시간의 차이, 호감도, 반응의 유형 등 비정형 데이터까지 확대하여 영향력 방향(Influence Directio)과 영향력 강도(Influence Strength or Distance)의 측정 기법을 정교화 하였다. 또한, 영향력 측정을 위한 data를 수집하고 분석하는 시스템과 facebook으로 수집한 sample data를 이용한 영향력 측정 기법 프로세스를 실험하고 구현 가능성을 설명하였다.

Predicting Information Self-Disclosure on Facebook: The Interplay Between Concern for Privacy and Need for Uniqueness

  • This study examined the overall relationship between information privacy concern, need for uniqueness (NFU), and disclosure behavior to explain the personal factors that drive data-sharing on Facebook. The results of an online survey conducted with 222 Facebook users show that among diverse data that social media users disclose online, four distinct factors are identified: basic personal data, private data, personal opinions, and personal photos. In general, there is a negative relationship between privacy concern and a positive relationship between the NFU and the willingness to self-disclose information. Overall, the NFU was a better predictor of willingness to disclose information than privacy concern, gender, or age. While privacy concern has been identified as an influential factor when users evaluate social networking sites, the findings of this study contribute to the literature by demonstrating that an individual's need to manifest individualization on social media overrides privacy concerns.

일-학습 병행을 위한 온라인 교육 시스템 (Online Education System for Work Based Learning Dual System)

  • 국내 대학교육은 높은 진학률과 낮은 취업률이라는 과잉학력의 악순환이 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 악순환을 해소하고, 청년 실업 해소와 청년층의 노동시장 조기 진입을 지원 및 유도하기 위하여 근로자의 '선취업-후학습' 기회를 확대하고, 재직자의 직무능력 향상을 위하여 일과 학습을 병행할 수 있는 교육 훈련 시스템이 필요하다. 최근 MOOC (Massive Open On-line Course)이라는 새로운 형태의 온라인 교육 시스템이 등장 하였다. MOOC는 교육, entertainment, social networking을 결합한 교수-학생, 학생-학생간의 상호작용을 강조한 새로운 형태의 온라인 교육환경으로 강의 콘텐츠를 무료로 제공하고 있다. 이러한 변화된 온라인 교육환경을 활용하여 지식을 온라인으로 효과적으로 제공하고, 기술 및 공학교육에 꼭 필요한 실습교육을 캠퍼스에서 제공하는 멀티학습체제를 구축함으로써 재직자들의 일과 학습을 병행할 수 있도록 지원할 수 있다.

온라인 소셜 네트워크 서비스 환경에서 오피니언 리더십이 구전의 방향성에 따른 태도 변화에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Opinion Leadership on the Attitude Change by the Direction of Word-of-Mouth under the Online Social Networking Service Environment)

  • 소셜 네트워크 서비스(SNS)의 이용이 확산되어 감에 따라, 경영학적 관점에서 SNS를 활용하기 위한 노력들이 다양하게 전개되고 있다. 특히, 구전효과와 같은 마케팅 분야에서의 연구가 활발히 진행되는 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 SNS에서 지인이 작성한 구전 정보가 SNS 사용자의 제품에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향에 대하여 살펴보았다. 또한, 지인의 오피니언 리더십이 이러한 구전효과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 연구하였다. 51명의 페이스북 사용자를 대상으로 자신들의 지인 4인에 대하여 각각 설문 응답을 받아 분석을 실시하였다. 회귀분석 결과, SNS 환경에서도 구전효과가 존재한다는 것이 검증되었으며, 구전 정보를 작성한 지인의 오피니언 리더십이 이러한 구전효과에 양의 조절효과가 있다는 것이 검증되었다.

Investigating the use of multiple social networking services: A cross-cultural perspective in the United States and Korea

  • The rise in recent technology has changed the ways, in which people communicate with one another. Social networking services (SNSs) have become one of the most representative means. General SNSs allow users to create their own unique profiles, search for fellow members, share information, etc., while other SNSs have functions that cater to different needs of users. As a result, users of SNSs have begun to pick and choose different SNSs and concurrently use multiple SNSs in order to fulfill all their needs. This exploratory study examined which SNSs are used together and the characteristics that predict the use of multiple SNSs. In addition, it observed the differences between consumers' usage of multiple SNSs in different cultures. An online survey was administered to SNS users in the United States and Korea. The results of the study showed that the use of multiple SNSs is not yet prevalent in Korea, the country that represented a collectivistic culture. In addition, in the U.S., the highest number of users reported that they were active on at least three SNSs.

중년후기 성인의 건강상태, 노화불안, 사회관계망, 생성감 및 행복 (The health status, aging anxiety, social networking, generativity, and happiness of late middle-aged adults)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the relationship of health status, aging anxiety, social networking, generativity, and happiness and to investigate the main factors influencing happiness of late middle-aged adults. Methods: The study collected data from a total of 153 middle-aged men and women aged 50 to 64 years old from a consumer panel of Macromill-Embrain, the biggest online survey provider in Korea. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient and a stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS 22.0 program. Results: The subjects' happiness mean score was 16.17±9.29. Statistically significant differences in happiness were found according to education (F=4.38, p=.014), economic status (t=5.13, p<.001), and religion (t=2.18, p=.031). Happiness was correlated significantly with health status (r=.41, p<.001), aging anxiety (r=-.62, p<.001), family support (r=.43, p<.001), friend support (r=.36, p<.001) and generativity (r=.63, p<.001). The factors influencing happiness of late middle-aged adults were generativity (𝛽=.37, p<.001), aging anxiety (𝛽=-.35, p<.001), family support (𝛽=.20, p<.001), and economic status (𝛽=.13, p=.033). The explanatory power of the model was 58.0%. Conclusion: This study will be used as basic data when developing a nursing intervention program for successful aging by identifying factors that affect the happiness of late middle-aged adults.

Artificial Intelligence Application in City Marketing Strategies: Perspectives from Millennials and Generation Z

  • This study aims to explore driving factors of Artificial Intelligence application for city marketing strategy with perspectives of millennials and generation Z. This study proposed the following research questions: i) how perceived place branding factor, public service factor, affective factor, immersive experience factor, cognitive factor, cost benefit factor, social networking factor, and promotional value factor affect attitude toward AI application for city marketing; and ii) how attitude affect satisfaction and prospect toward AI application for city marketing? This study conducted an online survey with the assistance of a well-known research agency and applied factor and regression analysis to test hypotheses. The results found that effects of place branding, cognitive, social networking, and promotional value affect attitude significantly in the case of millennials, while effects of public service, affective, cost benefit, social networking, and promotional value affect attitude significantly in the case of generation Z. The results found that effects of attitude on satisfaction and prospect of AI showed significance. The results provide implications and different aspects for AI application of city marketing strategy with perspectives by generations, while millennials and generation Z perceived effects of promotional value as the most significant factor for AI application of city marketing strategy.

Factors affecting millennials' intentions to use social commerce in fashion shopping

  • Social media has become an integral part of consumers' daily lives. Individuals connect with one another on social networking sites to like, share, and post information and experiences. As social media become popular among millennials, a growing number of fashion retailers use social media networks in the context of online commerce transactions. Accordingly, an increased number of fashion retailers has been using social media as an advertising tool and a retail channel. Despite the popularity of social media among millennials, empirical findings are limited to reveal factors associated with young consumers' intentions to use social commerce in fashion shopping. This study sought to examine factors affecting millennials' intentions to use social commerce in fashion shopping by adopting the technology acceptance model. A total of 524 college students completed an online survey in the U.S. The results of structural equation model confirmed that perceived ease of use, usefulness, and enjoyment had a positive impact on millennials' attitudes and intentions toward fashion shopping in social commerce. While both perceived ease of use and usefulness positively influenced enjoyment, usefulness had a stronger impact than ease of use. Compared to usefulness, enjoyment had much stronger impact on attitudes. Further structural model analysis revealed a direct, positive influence of perceived usefulness of social commerce on perceived enjoyment of social commerce, which has not been explored in prior studies. These findings provide theoretical and managerial implications.
