  • News contents, produced for paper readers, are more and more being used online instead of offline. Internet sites, expecially portals(naver, daum, nate etc.) are dominant marketplaces, where news are exchanged and values are added. So, establishing a new online news service system, which can satisfy news provider(copyright owner) and internet service provider together, is a necessary task under current online-dominant news service environment. UCI(Universal & Ubiquitous Content Identifier) and IPTC NewsML(News Mark-up Language) are considered as useful standards to compromise protection of news-copyright and enhancement of online use of news contents. This study is based on a real case of 'NewsBank' in korea, We expect that this study can show an inspiration to obtain two contradictory goals of copyright protection and free online use of copyright.

  • Despite various types of online social networks having different topological and functional characteristics, the kinds of online social networks considered in social recommendations are highly restricted. The pervasiveness of social networks has brought scholarly attention to expanding the scope of social recommendations into more diverse and less explored types of online social networks. As a preliminary attempt, this study examined the information-sharing patterns of a new type of online social network - unilateral (directed) network - and assessed the feasibility of the network as a useful information source. Specifically, this study mainly focused on the presence of shared interests in unilateral networks, because the shared information is the inevitable condition for utilizing the networks as a feasible source of personalized recommendations. As the results, we discovered that user pairs with direct and distant links shared significantly more similar information than the other non-connected pairs. Individual users' social properties were also significantly correlated with the degree of their information similarity with social connections. We also found the substitutability of online social networks for the top cohorts anonymously chosen by the collaborative filtering algorithm.

  • Internet telephony provides voice communication services with added flexibility for multimedia extension at a lower cost compared to traditional telephone systems. We implemented an internet telephony system as an overlay network without a centralized server, using a distributed hash table (DHT). Compared to the current server-based internet telephony system, our system is fault-tolerant, scalable, and can be flexible extended to various services and advanced to integrated service. To demonstrate the high flexibility of our DHT-based internet telephony system, we made our system cooperate with web servers. Web users can check up others' online stales and establish voice communication sessions to online users at a mouse click. This technology can be applied to more complex services such as multimedia messaging or video conference service.

  • In order to provide personalized services on the Web and for mobile services, it is necessary to collect and analyze information processed by users. Typically, information collected by users is managed online. Using information collected online may be sufficient to provide personalized service. However, in terms of O2O services, which are currently mixed with online and offline services, user information from the offline service can also be an important part of personalized service. Therefore, this study suggests an architecture to collect offline user information to provide more precise personalization services. The collection architecture includes Node Analyzer, Distance Checker, Holding Time Checker, and Cross Analyzer as core elements. This study also offers proposals for processing algorithms of key components that make up the proposed architecture. A case study collects user information of interest based on BLE in order to verify the proposed architecture and algorithms.

  • Online recruitment services have emerged as one of the most popular Internet services, providing job seekers with a comprehensive list of jobs and a search engine. But many recruitment services suffer from shortcomings due to their reliance on traditional client-pull information access model, in manay cases resulting in unfocused search results. Worldjob+, being operated by The Human Resources Development Service of Korea, addresses these problems and uses Splunk, a platform for analyzing machine data, to provide a more proactive and personalised services. It focuses on enhancing the existing system in two different ways: (a) using personalised automated matching techniques to proactively recommend most preferrable profile or specification information for each job opening announcement or recruiting company, (b) and to recommend most preferrable or desirable job opening announcement for each job-seeker. This approach is a feature-free recommendation technique that recommends information items to a given user based on what similar users have previously liked. A brief discussion about the potential benefit is also provided as a conclusion.

  • This study examines a data-driven approach for software test automation at an online shopping site. Online shopping sites typically change prices dynamically, offer various discounts or coupons, and provide diverse delivery and payment options such as electronic fund transfer, credit cards, mobile payments (KakaoPay, NaverPay, SyrupPay, ApplePay, SamsungPay, etc.) and so on. As a result, they have to test numerous combinations of possible customer choices continuously and repetitively. The total number of test cases is almost 584 billion. This requires somehow automation of tests in settling payments. However, the record playback approach has difficulties in maintaining automation scripts due to frequent changes and complicated component identification. In contrast, the data-driven approach minimizes changes in scripts and component identification. This study shows that the data-driven approach to test automation is more effective than the traditional record playback method. In 2014 before the test automation, the monthly average defects were 5.6 during the test and 12.5 during operation. In 2015 after the test automation, the monthly average defects were 9.4 during the test and 2.8 during operation. The comparison of live defects and detected errors during the test shows statistically significant differences before and after introducing the test automation using the data-driven approach.

  • Nowadays, many first-time Internet users start off heavily using SNSs (Social Network Sites), such as Cyworld, Facebook, and Twitter. The reason for the growth of SNS use is closely related to the various services of gaming, playing, using entertainment items, sharing knowledge etc., provided by the SNS; technically, the most important of the services provided would be the behavior of sharing knowledge among people connected and networked in the site. In sum, we assume that the users may communicate well with each other and pay attention to building a close social network using the abovementioned activities. However, researchers have just begun to focus on the issues explaining why Internet users rush into SNSs and enjoy their time there. Therefore, we investigated the reasons for posting and sharing knowledge voluntarily on the SNS and how others respond to the posted knowledge and are actually affected by the behavior. We applied social identity theory and social capital theory in this study to find which network externalities in SNSs may affect online identity-based attachment and cause them to produce a knowledge sharing generation. We found that people's online identity in SNSs is closely related to and influences knowledge sharing. This empirical study resulted in the importance of social relations in SNSs, which leads to sharing knowledge.
