The maneuvering characteristics of the research vessel NARA equipped with the azimuth thruster system (Azimuth thruster 시스템을 장착한 나라호의 조종성)

  • The research vessel NARA equipped with an azimuth thruster system was built in 2015. There are few vessels with this propulsion system in Korea. This vessel has two modes such as the normal for maneuvering and the power for investigation, and the other two modes as one axis and two axes on the operating. This type of vessels does not seem to have a clear grasp of the maneuvering character in comparison with the vessel with a conventional propulsion system. So the authors carried out the sea test for the turning, the zigzag and the inclination, and the results are as follows. In turning test, the case of using the two axes mode is much better than the case of using the one axis mode for the elements of turning, such as advance, transfer, tactical diameter and final diameter, but turning hard over the rudder in full speed is very vulnerable to capsize in both modes. In zigzag test, the yaw quicking responsibility index, T is very large excessively, which means a bad counter maneuvering ability, so an operator has to keep in mind that in turning operation. If necessary to avoid collision at head on situation, it may be a more effective method to use the crash astern stop than the turning according to the conditions and circumstances for the shortest stopping distance is very short.

  • We propose 'the haptic primitive' for haptic rendering without the need to solve complicated parametric equations. To develop 'the haptic primitive', we adopted "the God-Object Method" as a haptic rendering algorithm and applied 'Constructive Solid Geometry' to manage haptic objects. Besides being used in the 'ghost library' of $PHANToMTM^{TM}$ our method can be used as a basic component for developing tools and libraries that aim to simplify haptic modeling. It can also be applied to tactile display modules and temporal display modules. Ultimately it can be developed into a one-stop haptic modeling tool that enables the user to more conveniently create a tangible CAD systems or a tangible e-ommerce system.

  • 본 연구에서는 시공간 제약뿐만 아니라, 데이터의 다양성에 따른 제약조건까지도 최소화하여 온라인상에서 지리정보 활용성을 제고하기 위해 기존의 국가지리정보유통망을 지리정보통합포털로 발전시키기 위한 방안을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 미국의 지리정보포털인 GOS(Geospatial One-Stop)를 모델로 하여 우리나라 국가지리정보유통망을 지리정보통합포털로 발전시키기 위한 모델을 수립하였다. 지리정보통합포털 모델은 개방형 분산프로세싱 시스템 구조에 대한 In 국제표준인 RM-ODP를 기반으로 하여 전사적 관점, 정보관점, 전산관점, 공학관점에서 수립하였다. 이를 통해 국가지리정보유통망을 기반으로 각종 지리정보 및 지리정보서비스에 대한 접근성을 제고함으로써 국가차원에서 GIS활용도를 높이는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Space Vector control of linear induction motor without speed sensor is one of the most up-to-date researching subjects to the engineers in the fields of power electronics and control theory. A conveyance SLIM (Single-sided Linear Induction Motor) has required a stable speed and a soft start/stop when the goods convey. So, the close loop control method to use a speed sensor have been adopted and as the speed sensor, a linear encorder has been used. But when the speed sensor used, the application boundary is limited and the confidence of system is diminished because it is sensitive to external environment variations and its cost is very expensive. So, to solve these problems, this paper deals with speed control of the conveyance SLIM using space vector without speed sensorless.

  • It is of great practical interest to decide when to stop testing a software system in the development phase and transfer it to the user. This decision problemcalled an optimal software release one is discussed to specify the a, pp.opriate release time. In almost all studies, the software reliability models used are nonphomogenous Poisson process(NHPP) model with bounded mean value function. HNPP models with unbounded mean value function are more suitable in practice because of the possibility of introducing new faults when correcting or modifying the software. We discuss optimal software release policies which minimize a total average software cost under the constraint of satisfying a software reliability requirement. A numerical example illustrates the results.

  • Etching Process, one of the most important process in semiconductor fabrication, has input control part of which components are pressure, gas flow, RF power and etc., and plasma gas which is complex and not exactly understood is used to etch wafer in etching chamber. So this process has not real-time feedback controller based on input-output relation, then it uses EPD(End Point Detection) signal to determine when to start or when to stop etching. Various type EPD controller control etching process using EPD signal obtained from optical intensity of etching chamber. In development EPD controller we concentrate on compensation of this signal intensity and setting the relative signal magnitude at first of etching. We compensate signal intensity using neural network learning method and set the relative signal magnitude using fuzzy inference method. Potential of this method which improves EPD system capability is proved by experiences.

  • AGV is very useful equipment to transfer containers in automated container terminal. AGV must have Obstacle Detection System (ODS) for port automation. ODS needs the function to classify some specified object from background in acquired data. And it must be able to track classified moving objects. Finally, ODS could determine its next action for safe driving whether it should do emergency stop or speed down, or it should change its deriving lane. For these functions, ODS can have many different kinds of algorithm. In this paper, we present one of AGV to be used in automated container terminal.

  • Government Organization and Public Institution have been developed many kinds of agricultural information systems such as agricultural policy, cultivated technology, marketing, and trade so on since 2000. Farm management conditions are diverse and complex more and more. Therefore, farmer want to service the specific agricultural information. Farmer don't like to access many Web sites to retrieve agricultural informations. They hope to receive one-stop its service. Government Organization began to review its information in order to make them more customized agricultural information service. We came up with an effective plan and Service Standardization Code for integrating agricultural technology informations in 2009. We can guide to carry out an effective portal service of agricultural information because we have a good experience about integrating information and system. This paper suggested the service scheme of integrated agricultural information for improving accessibility its information to farmer.

  • This letter studies the problem of exploiting multichannel diversity in a spectrum sharing system, where the secondary user (SU) sequentially explores channel state information on the licensed channels with time consumption. To maximize the expected achievable throughput for the SU, we formulate this problem as an optimal stopping problem, whose objective is to choose the right channel to stop exploration based on the observed signal-to-noise ratio sequence. Moreover, we propose a myopic but optimal rule, called one-stage look-ahead rule, to solve the stopping problem.

Terahertz Wave Transmission Properties of Metallic Periodic Structures Printed on a Photo-paper

  • We printed a one-dimensional array of metallic wires and a two-dimensional array of metallic split ring resonators on a photo-paper by using a high-dots-per-inch resolution printer and an ink with silver nano-particles. The printed sample sizes are $1.0{\times}1.0cm^2$. The transmission measured by a terahertz time domain spectroscopy system shows that the arrays of wires and split ring resonators could act as polarizers and band-stop filters, respectively, in a terahertz frequency region.
