  • Due to the requirement of the development of the precision manufacturing industry, the accuracy of machine tools has become a key issue in this field. A critical factor that affects the accuracy of machine tools is the feed system, which is generally driven by a ball screw. Basically, to improve the performance of the feed drive system, which will be thermally extended lengthwise by continuous usage, a thermal error compensation system that is highly dependent on the feedback temperature or positioning data is employed in the machine tool system. Due to the overdependence on measuring technology, the cost of the compensation system and low productivity level are inevitable problems in the machine tool industry. This paper presents a novel feed drive thermal error compensation system method that could compensate for thermal error without positioning or temperature feedback. Regarding this thermal error compensation system, the heat generation of components, principal of compensation, thermal model, mathematic model, and calculation method are discussed. As a result, the test data confirm the correctness of the developed feed drive thermal error compensation system very well.

타이어 사이드판의 문자 가공을 위한 4축 가공 시스템 (A 4-axis NC Lettering System for the Side-wall of the Automobile Tire)

  • The letters of the automobile tire are usually engraved on the side-wall. The shape of the side-wall is a sculptured surface generated by the rotational sweeping of a profile curve. The letters laid on the side-wall are usually designed by a 2-dimensional CAD. It is impossible to machine the letters on the surface accurately by 3-axis NC machining, because the axis of cutter should be tilted to align with the normal vector of the surface. In this case. the degree of freedom for the machine is at least four. This paper describes an idea for tool path generation of a 4-axis machine by using the 2-dimensional CAD data of the letters and the surface of the side-wall. This study includes the following procedures; (1) measuring the profile of the side-wall surface and curve-fitting of the measured points. (2) the 'non-parallel projection' of the letters on the side-wall, and (3) an inverse kinematics of the 4-axis lettering machine. Procedures in this paper are programmed in C-language on Windows95 environment. With a PC based CNC controller and a 4-axis lettering machine. these are tested sucessfully for the practical use.

코너부 모깍기 엔드밀가공시 가공정밀도의 최적조건에 관한 연구 (A study on the optimal conditions for machining accuracy when endmill fillet cutting at the corner)

  • Endmill fillet cutting at the corner was conducted with the online measurement of cutting forces and tool deflection by a tool dynamometer and an eddy current sensor system. The profile of the machined surface was also compared with the CAD profile with a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and CALYPSO software. It was found that the end mill cutter with four blades has a better surface profile than that with two blades, and the cutting forces and tool deformation were increased as the cutting speed was increased. When the tool located at the degree $45^{\circ}$ corner was found to conduct the maximum cutting force than started to the point of the workpiece. As it was compared with the CMM and ANOVA analysis result in the case that the cutting force and tool deformation was the maximum, it was found that the result was affected by the spindle speed and the number of blades.

고속가공기를 이용한 CAD/CAM 포켓가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on CAD/CAM Pocket Processing using the High Speed Machine)

  • Recently, the system of high speed milling(HSM) is widely used for reducing the operation time and maximizing efficiency of work. The most research of high speed milling system is still leaves much to be desired. Specially the research of mass pocket high speed processing with high precision is the first and probably the last. So this paper showed mass pocket processing of high precision with a duralumin and then confirmed a cause of inferior goods through the CAD/CAM pattern simulation and experimentation. And this paper showed high speed processing system reduce the rate of inferior from this optimal pattern.

  • Condition-based maintenance (CBM) has been used as a useful concept for optimizing maintenance plan and decreasing maintenance cost in several kinds of plant sites. This study introduced an example that developed an integrated management system for maintenance parameters and hydraulic turbine of hydro-power plant in order to improve its maintenance system as applying CBM techinique. The integrated management system consists of three parts. One is a hardware part including PDA inspection system and several kind of precision measuring instruments. Another is a vibration monitoring system on hydraulic turbine. The other is a software part that takes charge of making hierarchy tree of maintenance parameters and their inspection route, managing accumulated database, assessing health condition of components, and supporting interface with other enterprise management system. The system has been installed at Chuncheon Hydro-power plant for test and demonstration. It is expected that the system can contribute database construction for diagnostics and prognostics on facility health condition and systematic accumulation of know-how on operation and maintenance of plant.

  • 컴퓨터 비전은 카메라를 이용하여 측정대상의 영상을 획득하고, 추출하고자 하는 특징 값, 벡터, 영역 등을 알고리즘과 라이브러리 함수를 응용하여 검출한다. 검출된 데이터는 사용하는 목적에 따라 다양한 형태로 계산되고 분석한다. 컴퓨터 비전은 다양한 곳에 활용되고 있으며, 특히 자동차의 부품을 자동으로 인식하거나 품질을 측정하는 분야에 많이 활용된다. 컴퓨터 비전을 산업분야에서 머신비전이라는 용어로 활용되고 있으며, 인공지능과 연결되어 제품의 품질을 판정하거나 결과를 예측하기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 자동차 부품의 품질을 판정하기 위한 비전시스템을 구축하고, 생산된 데이터에 5개의 머신러닝 분류 모델을 적용하여 그 결과를 비교하였다.

  • Intelligent devices using ICT technology have been introduced in the field of construction machinery to improve productivity and stability. Among the intelligent devices, Machine Guidance is a device that provides real-time posture, location, and work range to drivers by installing various sensors, controllers, and satellite navigation systems on construction machines. Conversely, the efficiency of equipment that requires location information, such as machine guidance, will be greatly reduced in buildings, and tunnels in the GPS blind spots. Thus, the other high-precision positioning technologies are required in the GPS blind spot zone. In this study, we will develop a relative position measurement system that provides precise location information such as construction machinery and robots in a local area where the GPS reception is difficult. A relative position measurement system tracks a marker in the form of a sphere installed on a vehicle by using the image base tracking technology, and measures the distance and direction information to the marker to calculate a position.

  • 농업기계(農業機械)의 개량(改良) 및 개발(改發)의 새로운 설계(設計)를 위(爲)하여는 기계요소(機械要素)의 strain의 정밀측정(精密測定)이 중요(重要)하다. 각종(各種) 농업기계요소(農業機械要素)의 strain 측정(測定)을 위(爲)하여 현재(現在) 널리 사용(使用)하고 있는 strain 계측장치(計測裝置)의 Recorder는 1,000m/s 이하(以上)의 고속측정(高速測定)에는 이용(利用)하기 어려울뿐아니라 포장(圃場)에서 실험(實驗)할 경우는 매우 불편(不便)하고 또한 Recording paper에 나타난 Analog Data를 인력(人力)에 의(依)해 Digital로 변환(變換)해야 하므로 이때의 분석소요시간(分析所要時間)이 많이 소요(所要)될 뿐 아니라 오차(誤差)의 발생요인(發生要因)도 많이 내포(內包)하고 있다. 본(本) 연구(硏究)는 Amplifier에서 출력(出力)되는 Analog Signal을 A/D 변환기(變換器)를 갖춘 마이크로 콤퓨터에서 실시간(實時間)으로 측정(測定)하고, 이를 보통의 카세트녹음기(錄音器)에 수록(收錄)하였다가 실험후(實驗後) 콤퓨터에 보내 처리(處理)하는 방안(方案)에 관(關)해 연구(硏究)를 실시(實施)한 바 그 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 측정시간간격(測定時間間隔), 사용(使用) channel수(數) 및 data수(數)를 자유(自由)로 조정(調整)할 수 있는 측정(測定) program을 개발(開發)하였으며 특(特)히 측정시간(測定時間) 간격(間隔)은 고속측정(高速測定)이 최소(最少) $62{\mu}s$까지 가능(可能)하였다. 2. Calibration은 funcfion generator와 Oscilloscope를 이용(利用)하여 삼각파(三角波)를 넣어 측정(測定)한 결과(決果)를 콤퓨터에서 plotling한 결과(結果) 정확(正確)한 삼각파(三角波)를 얻을 수 있어 phase distorsion, amplitude distorsion의 문제(問題)가 전혀 없는 것이 인정(認定)되었다. 3. 진동주기(振動週期)가 0.019초(秒)인 Cantilever beam vibrafor의 strain 변화(變化)를 이 실험장치(實驗裝置)로 측정시간(測定時間) 간격(間隔) 1.0ms로 측정(測定)하여 콤퓨터에서 plotting한 결과(結果) 이론치(理論値)와 잘 일치(一致)하는 진동곡선(振動曲線)을 얻었다. 4. 마이크로 콤퓨터는 농업기계요소(農業機械要素)의 strain 측정(測定)에 이용(利用)하면 분석시간(分析時間)이 절약(節約)되고 기록용지(記錄用紙)를 사용(使用)치 않아 경제적(經濟的)일 뿐 아니라 포장실험(圃場實驗) 적응성(適應性)이 우수(優秀)하고 정밀고속측정등(精密高速測定等) 우수(優秀)한 성능(性能)을 갖춘 것으로 인정(認定)된다.

엔드밀 작업에서 공구의 열변형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Thermal Deformation of a Cutting Tool in End Milling)

  • Machining process introduces thermal deformation of a cutter, which affects the surface finish of the workpieces. By measuring the temperature distribution of the cutter, thermal stress and deformation of the cutter are simulated. In addition, surface roughness of workpiece is simulated by the surface-shaping system. The result shows that thermal deformation deteriorates the surface roughness.
