  • This Paper presents a speed controller based on the adaptive fuzzy tuning method for brushless DC(BLDC) motor drives under load variations. Generally, the speed tracking control systems use PI controller due to its simple structure and easy of design. PI controller, however, suffers from the electrical machine parameter variations and disturbances. In order to improve the tracking control performance under load variations, PI controller of which the parameters are modified during operation by adaptive fuzzy tuning method. This method based on optimal fuzzy logic system has simple structure and computational simplicity. It needs only sample data which is obtained by optimal controller off-line. As the sample data implemented in the adaptive fuzzy system can be modified or extended, a flexible control system can be obtained. Simulation results show the usefulness of the proposed controller.

  • In this paper, we explore the utility of recently discovered multiple-antenna techniques (namely MIMO techniques) for medium access control (MAC) design and routing in mobile ad hoc networks. Specifically, we focus on ad hoc networks where the spatial diversity technique is used to combat fading and achieve robustness in the presence of user mobility. We first examine the impact of spatial diversity on the MAC design, and devise a MIMO MAC protocol accordingly. We then develop analytical methods to characterize the corresponding saturation throughput for MIMO multi-hop networks. Building on the throughout analysis, we study the impact of MIMO MAC on routing. We characterize the optimal hop distance that minimizes the end-to-end delay in a large network. For completeness, we also study MAC design using directional antennas for the case where the channel has a strong line of sight (LOS) component. Our results show that the spatial diversity technique and the directional antenna technique can enhance the performance of mobile ad hoc networks significantly.

  • This paper presents a windows program package for solving security constrained OPF in interconnected Power systems, which is based on the combined application of evolutionary programming(EP) and sequential quadratic programming(SQP). The objective functions are the minimization of generation fuel costs and system power losses. The control variables are the active power of the generating units, the voltage magnitude of the generator, transformer tap settings and SYC setting. The state variables are the bus voltage magnitude, the reactive power of the generating unit, line flows and the tie line flow In OPF considering security, the outages are selected by contingency ranking method. The resulting optimal operating point has to be feasible after outages such as any single line outage(respect of voltage magnitude, reactive power generation and power flow limits). The OPF package proposed is applied to IEEE 14 buses and 10 machines 39 buses model system.

  • In order to compensate for out-of-straightness of shafts, an automatic straightening process composed of an automatic measuring module, an automatic control unit and operating softwares was developed with a hydraulic press. The out-of-sraightness of each shaft was measured automatically in the measuring stage. An optimal pressure point was determined to minimize TIR value of the shaft according to press count of 3-points bending process. In the geometric adaptive control procedure, punch stroke and springback of the shaft were predicted by an observer using on-line measured values of press force and deflection amount I each press count. An automatic straightening machine was realized with the measuring module, the GAC module, PLD, IBM-PC and the operating software on the hydraulic press. the validity of the proposed straightening process was confirmed through a series of experiments with cam shafts.

  • On-line efficiency optimization control of an induction motor drive using neural network is important from the v viewpoints of energy saving and controlling a nonlinear system whose charact81istics are not fully known. This paper p presents a neural networklongleftarrowbased on-line efficiency optimization control for an induction motor drive, which adopts an optimal slip an밍J.lar frequency control. In the proposed scheme, a neuro-controller provides minimal loss operating point i in the whole range of the measured input power. Both simulation and experimental results show that a considerable e energy saving is achieved compared with the conventional constant vlf ratio operation.

  • The structure guide lines of pocket tunnel field effect transistor(TFET) considering Line and Point tunneling are introduced. As the pocket doping concentration or thickness increase, on-current $I_{on}$ increases. As the pocket thickness or gate insulator increase, subthreshold swing(SS) increases. Optimal structure reducing the hump effects should be proposed in order to enhance SS.

  • Nonlinear PID controllers have increasingly used in current industrial practice because it is robust and is easy to operate. Little guideline and tuning method, however, has been recommended for the nonlinear PID controllers while a lot of result is available for the linear PID controllers. Application guideline and tuning formulae are presented for error square type nonlinear controllers, which are most popular currently, are presented.

  • The recent movement to deregulated and competitive electricity market changes the role of Security Constrained Optimal Power Flow (SCOPF) and increases the importance for real-time computation. communication, and on-line data control. As power systems tend to be operated more closely to their ultimate ratings, more rapid updates of telemetered data and faster solutions times are becomimg necessary to better track the changes in systems. This paper presents an on-line SCOPF application exploiting the state-of-art OPF tools and corresponding interfacing technologies. The significance of the proposed mechanism is demonstrated with a case study system.

  • This study presents a simulation of the traction return current based on $2{\times}25kV$ power supply system in order to determine the impedance bond intensity of impulse type track circuit on the electrified Gyeongbu line. The results of the simulation enables us to measure the precise intensity of catenary current that returns to the substation through KTX (Korean Train Express) operated by $2{\times}25kV$ power supply system with common earth network. The combination of $2{\times}25kV$ and common earth network established on the electrified Gyeongbu line for the first time in Korea. We show that the relationships among the traction return current, earth current, and catenary current, and catenary current can be applied to this line in order to determine the optimal impedance bond intensity ...
