Design of Automatic Ship Maneuvering Control System (선박 자동 운항 제어기의 설계)

  • This paper is concerned with the design of automatic ship maneuvering system including automatic path tracking controller and automatic berthing controller. The optimal control technique is employed to design the automatic path tracking controller, which is based on the linearized equations of ship motion. The numerical example shows that the automatic path tracking controller is capable of tracking the line between way points which are determined by pilot a priori. The decentralized control technique is employed to design the automatic berthing controller. In addition to the automatic path tracking controller, the fuzzy logic controller is used to control the forward speed. The numerical example shows that the automatic berthing controller can be successfully implemented.

A High Speed Road Lane Detection based on Optimal Extraction of ROI-LB (관심영역(ROI-LB)의 최적 추출에 의한 차선검출의 고속화)

  • This paper presents an algorithm, aims at practical applications, for the high speed processing and performance enhancement of lane detection base on vision processing system. As a preprocessing for high speed lane detection, the vanishing line estimation and the optimal extraction of region of interest for lane boundary (ROI-LB) can be processed to reduction of detection region in which high speed processing is enabled. Image feature information is extracted only in the ROI-LB. Road lane is extracted using a non-parametric model fitting and Hough transform within the ROI-LB. With simultaneous processing of noise reduction and edge enhancement using the Laplacian filter, the reliability of feature extraction can be increased for various road lane patterns. Since outliers of edge at each block can be removed with clustering of edge orientation for each block within the ROI-LB, the performance of lane detection can be greatly improved. The various real road experimental results are presented to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In order to maintain customer voltages within the allowable limit($220{\pm}13V$) as much as possible, tap operation strategy of SVR(Step Voltage Regulator) which is located in primary feeder, is widely used for voltage control in the utilities. However, SVR in nature has operation characteristic of the delay time ranging from 30 to 150 sec, and then the compensation of BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) during the delay time is being required because the customer voltages in distribution system may violate the allowable limit during the delay time of SVR. Furthermore, interconnection of PV(Photovoltaic) system could make a difficultly to keep customer voltage within the allowable limit. Therefore, this paper presents an optimal coordination operation algorithm between BESS and SVR based on a conventional LDC (Line Drop Compensation) method which is decided by stochastic approach. Through the modeling of SVR and BESS using the PSCAD/EMTDC, it is confirmed that customer voltages in distribution system can be maintained within the allowable limit.

  • An integrated in-line oil monitoring detector assigned for continuous in situ monitoring multiple parameters of oil performance for predicting economically optimal oil change intervals and equipment condition control is presented in this study. The detector estimates oil deterioration based on the information about chemical degradation, total contamination, water content of oil and oil temperature. The oil oxidation is estimated by "chromatic ratio", total contamination is measured by the changes in optical intensity of oil in three optical wavebands ("Red", "Green" and "Blue") and water content is evaluated as Relative Saturation of oil by water. The detector is able to monitor oils with low light absorption (hydraulic, transformer, turbine, compressor and etc. oils) as well as oils with rather high light absorption in visible waveband (diesel and etc. oils). In a case study that the detector is applied to a diesel engine oil, it is found that the detector provides good results on oil chemical degradation as well as soot concentration.

Riser Configuration Design for a 15-MW Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Integrated with a Green Hydrogen Facility

  • Green hydrogen presents a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution for clean energy production and transportation. This study aims to identify the optimal profile of green hydrogen transportation risers originating from a floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) integrated with a hydrogen production facility. Employing the Cummins equation, a fully coupled dynamic analysis for FOWT with a flexible riser was conducted, with the tower, mooring lines, and risers described using a lumped mass line model. Initially, motion response amplitude operators (RAOs) were compared with openly published results to validate the numerical model for the FOWT. Subsequently, a parametric study was conducted on the length of the buoyancy module section and the upper bare section of the riser by comparing the riser's tension and bending moment. The results indicated that as the length of the buoyancy module increases, the maximum tension of the riser decreases, while it increases with the lengthening of the bare section. Furthermore, shorter buoyancy modules are expected to experience less fatigue damage, with the length of the bare section having a relatively minor impact on this phenomenon. Consequently, to ensure safety under extreme environmental conditions, both the upper bare section and the buoyancy module section should be relatively short.

  • This study is a kind of preliminary research in order to propose and suggest the plan of performance improvement for the speed-up through the examination of operational condition on the field for signal system facility on the conventional railway, in order to obtain the elemental technology from the technical development for utilization of high speed train which will be run on the Korea Conventional Line and, finally, in order to propose the specification of signal system using for high speed and the scheme of establishment for the optimal signal system.

  • In this paper, we study an approach to design a self-tuning Fuzzy-PI controller in HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) system. In the rectifier of conversional HVDC system, turning on, turning off, triggering and protections of thyristors have lots of problems that can make the dynamic instability and cannot damp the dynamic disturbance efficiently. The above problems are solved by adapting Fuzzy-PI controller for the fire angle control of rectifier.[7] The performance of the Fuzzy-PI controller is sensitive to the variety of scaling factors. The design procedure dwells on the use of evolutionary computing(Genetic Algorithms, GAs). Then we can obtain the optimal scaling factors of the Fuzzy-PI controller by Genetic Algorithms. In order to improve Fuzzy-PI controller, we adopt FIS to tune the scaling factors of the Fuzzy-PI controller on line. A comparative study has been performed between Fuzzy-PI and self-tuning Fuzzy-PI controller, to prove the superiority of the proposed scheme.

  • Harmonics happened due to nonlinear systems such as UPS, SCR controlled motors, and fluorescent lighting in distribute power system is very important subject to optimal operation and control of power system. Harmonics sometimes make incorrect operation of protective relaying system under normal condition on power system. In this study, total harmonics distortion(THD) of power were measured and analyzed by the field test on electrical facilities which were installed at the rural industrial complex in Chungbuk province. In addition, the deprivation of power factor by harmonics and the content of THD which is measured at neutral line was researched.

  • This paper handles synthesis and investigation of a neural network guidance law based on pursuit-evasion games. This work considers two-dimensional pursuit-evasion games solved by using the gradient method. The procedure of developing a guidance law from the game-optimal solutions is deeply examined, and important features of the neural network guidance are investigated. The proposed neural network guidance law takes the range, range rate, line-of-sight rate, and heading error as its input variables. By reconstructing the trajectory, the accuracy of the neural network approximation is verified.   • Collision avoidance for multiple aircraft can be stated as a problem ofmaintaining safe distance between aircraft in conflict. Optimal collision avoidanceproblem seeks to minimize the given cost function while simultaneously satisfyingconstraints. The cost function could be a function of time or control input. This paper addresses the trajectory time-optimization problem for collision avoidance of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs). The problem is difficult to handle in general due to the two-point boundary value problem subject to dynamic environments. Some simplifying aleorithms are used for potential applications in on-line operation.Although under possibility of more complicated problems, a dynamic problem is transformed into a static one by prediction of the conflict time and some appropriate assumptions.
