Two-Phase Genetic Algorithm for Solving the Paired Single Row Facility Layout Problem

  • This paper proposes a two-phase genetic algorithm (GA) to solve the problem of obtaining an optimum configuration of a paired single row assembly line. We pair two single-row assembly lines due to the shared usage of several workstations, thus obtaining an optimum configuration by considering the material flow of the two rows simultaneously. The problem deals with assigning workstations to a sequence and selecting the best arrangement by looking at the length and width for each workstation. This can be considered as an enhancement of the single row facility layout problem (SRFLP), or the so-called paired SRFLP (PSRFLP). The objective of this PSRFLP is to find an optimal configuration that seeks to minimize the distance traveled by the material handler and even the use of the material handler itself if this is possible. Real-world applications of such a problem can be found for apparel, shoe, and other manual assembly lines. This research produces the schematic representation solution using the heuristic approach. The crossover and mutation will be utilized using the schematic representation solution to obtain the neighborhood solutions. The first phase of the GA result is recorded to get the best pair. Based on these best matched pairs, the second-phase GA can commence.

Design of A Low Power Memory Tag for Storing Emergency Manuals (긴급 매뉴얼 저장용 저전력 메모리 태그의 설계)

  • Since the communication networks like the Internet collapses at disaster and calamity sites, a maintenance system that can be operated offline is required for the maintenance of various facilities. In this paper, we propose a system that memory tags attached on the facilities may transmit the emergency manual to a smart-phone, and the smart phone displays it off-line. The main issue is to design low energy mode memory tags. This study presents two kinds of methods and analyzes each's energy consumption mode. The first one is to develop memory tags by using one chip, and the next one is to design memory tags by forming multi-modules. Both ways show proper application fields under the low energy mode. This research selects the off-line maintenance system by using one chip design, and proposes the direction of contents for enhancing the effectiveness of the system. And we expect that this memory tags will be valuable for disaster scenes as well as battle fields.

  • Assessment and rehabilitation of patients with unilateral visual neglect has been one of the fields that require assistive technology. Paper-and-pencil tests, including the LBT (Line Bisection Test), have been one of the most commonly used visual neglect assessment methods used in a clinical setting. The key motivation of this study was to establish a computer-based real-time assessment system for the hemi-neglect patients without altering the conventional paper-and-pencil based user tools. A digital penbased assessment and rehabilitation system, the ePen System, could eliminate the manual assessment time while maintaining measurement accuracy. As a result, the proposed system may assist rehabilitation specialists to assess and diagnose patients with unilateral visual neglect. This system can be applied to a range assessment and rehabilitation modalities based on a pen and paper. It can also be applied to various patients such as those with Parkinson's disease, stroke sufferers, or those who have experienced different forms of brain lesions.

  • CWR technology is generally believed to contribute to the increase of train speed and bring a variety of significant advantages, such as the decrease in track works, noise and vibration as well as the improvement of passenger comfort. In CWR technology, welding is considered to be one of the most important element technologies. Among the various welding methods, gas pressure welding is the most frequently used in vicinity of train line station since the operation is simple and the instruments are not heavy. The gas pressure welding is constructed exactly by good manual book on which simple and excellent welding methods is written and has the same performance as raw material. But this can be poor in the variety of the processing of rail end surface to be welded, the control of oxyacetylene flame and axil compressive force.   • In order to utilize remote sensed images effectively, it is necessary to correct geometric distortion. Geometric correction is a critical step to remove geometric distortions in satellite images. For geometric correction, Ground Control Points (GCPs) have to be chosen carefully to guarantee the quality of geocoded satellite images, digital maps, GPS surveying or other data. Traditional approach to geometric correction used GCPs requires substantial human operations. Also that is necessary much time and manpower. In this paper, we presented an on-line automatic geometric correction by constructing GCP Chip database. The Proposed on-line automatic geometric correction system is consists of four part. Input image, control the GCP Chip, revision of selected GCP, and output setting part. In conclusion, developed system reduced the processing time and energy for tedious manual geometric correction and promoted usage of Landsat imagery.

  • In order to construct a Video Database, shot change detection should be made first. But, because these processes are not automated perfectly, we need a lot of time and efforts now. And, there are many shot change detection algorithms, which can't always insure the perfect result because of the editing effects such as cut, wipe, and dissolves used in film production. Therefore, in order to receive the exact shot change, It needs the verification and correction by manual processing at any cost. Spatiotemporal slice is a simple image condensing method for the content changes of video. The editing effects are expressed on the Spatiotemporal slice in the visually noticed form of vertical line, diagonal line, curved line and gradual color changes, etc. Accordingly the parts doubted as a shot change can be easily detected by the change of the Spatiotemporal slice without replaying the video. The system proposed in this study makes it possible to delete the false detected key frames, and create the undetected key frames on the Spatiotemporal slice.

  • We introduces a development result of semi-automatic karyotyping system using image processing method to improve a long time working of the manual method and 5% error of traditional automatic karyotying system for analyzing karyotying. The karyotyping procedures have many routine tasks such as searching metaphases, taking pictures, developing, editing, etc. There are several automatic karyotyping systems in order to reduce the task in advanced countries. However, they are very expensive, applicable to only human chromosome, and have too many functions to use easily. This paper takes aim at high quality image resolution and development of interface that can adjust brightness and contrast of image on-line. The system can be applied to animal and plants as well as human's chromosome. The system developed in this paper is applied to pig and human. The effectiveness of the system is proved by hospitals in Korea.

  • This paper presents a design of the fuzzy decision maker which infers set value for fuel rate in the rotary kiln of making CaO. The fuzzy decision maker proposed are divided into two groups whose functions are different each other. The one operates when production demand is constant. The other deals with the status of varying production demand. We have chosen several variables used for composing condition and action part by investigating ingerent features of the rotary kiln and skilled operators`manual method of inferring fuel rate. Membership function of each variable was designed by analyzing experimental data and field data collected during two months. On-line operation with fuzzy rules suggested was done safely like human operators' action.

  • This study aims at efficiency of kitchen management by adoption of a systematic central kitchen and conversion of conventional kitchen to convenience kitchen at ' H ' restaurant. First, integrated menu control of banquet buffet functions became more competitive with quality menu and eventually brought about guests satisfaction. Second, systematic central kitchen made possible standardization and mass production through simplified production line. Efficiency through quick service and shortened preparation time was realized, and food materials were recycled effectively at the same time. Integrated ordering lowered purchasing price and built an efficient cost control system. Third, conversion of conventional kitchen to convenience kitchen and strengthened central kitchen system facilitated agreeable work conditions and optimal work flow with butcher's and even sauce making utensils. Fourth, integrated supply system of buffet menu and sauce from western restaurants saved about 520 million won of labor costs. Last, one integrated kitchen out of two was easier in sanitation control with pleasant restaurant space. Sharing kitchen facilities and equipments also saved about 30% of maintenance fee. Power, water, and gas were also saved and eventually curtailed overall expenses.

  • One of representative techniques for compensation of LC's slow response characteristic is the Response Time Acceleration (RTA) technique. The conventional data definition for the RTA is based on the manual measurement and thus it takes long time. Therefore it is almost impossible to use panel specific compensation data in MP line. We have developed a new automated measurement system and flicker minimization for this purpose, which could achieve dramatic measurement time reduction, consistency over different operator, and optimized values as well. This system laid the groundwork for the application of image quality enhancement technologies to panels individually, and using this system, we can expect very uniform image quality for all LCD panels.
