The purpose of this study was to investigate parents' recognition of the importance of their children's basic habits and how that effected their children's basic habit development, according to young children's age. The subjects of the research were 224 parents whose children were three to five years old, attending seven nurseries in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The results of this study were as follows. First, there was significant age difference in the parents' recognition of the importance of basic habits. As children were older, parents thought that children's basic habits got more important. Second, there was no significant difference between a mother or father's recognition about the importance of basic habits. Third, there were differences in the correlations between the parents' recognition and the teacher's ratings for the development of children's basic habits based on the children's age. In conclusion, the mothers' recognition of the importance of their children's basic habits with younger children was more related to the development of the children's basic habits.

This study also tried to investigate the inter-relationship among related variables, and the differences in the level of school adjustment according to adolescents' general characteristics. First, there were significant differences in the level of school adjustment according to sex, age, and grade point. average That is, the level of school adjustment was higher for males, for older adolescents, and for those recording higher grade point, than for females, for younger, and for those recording relatively lower grade point. Second, parents' marital relationship was positively correlated with positive aspects of attachment with their parents(i.e., communication and trust), and with school adjustment. but negatively correlated with negative aspect of attachment(i.e., alienation from their parents). Finally, multiple regression analyses were performed to analyze the relative significance of the related variables influencing on school adjustment after controlling the effect of sex, age, and grade point. It was found that communication with fathers was the most powerful predictor of school adjustment, while attachment with mothers was not found to be a significant predictor of school adjustment.
Financial transfers between parents and their adult children are a growing trend in Korean society. This study investigates the relation of household assets to intergenerational financial transfers among the middle-aged and focuses on the influences of various types of assets on financial transfers from the middle-aged to their older parents and adult children. The paper presents an analysis of data from the second wave of KReIS on the financial transfers provided by those aged 50-69 years to their parents and children. The results show that around one-fifth of the respondents reported providing financial resource transfers to their parents, and that about one-third of the respondents provided financial transfers to their children. In terms of the other direction of financial transfers, a small percentage of the respondents received financial transfers from their parents; otherwise more than half of the respondents reported receiving financial transfers from their children. The influences of various types of assets are statistically significant on financial transfers to parents, to adult children and from adult children. Specifically the size of financial assets is associated with a likelihood of providing financial resource to both parents and children.

The participants in this study included 338 elementary students, 371 junior high students, and 342 high school students of Kyunggi province. Significant variables to explain students' Internet addiction were differentiated along their developmental levels. Attachment to parents was related to the Internet addiction of elementary and junior high students, while self control was more critical for high school students' addiction.

This paper examines the changes in family values in Korea by examining values of children, socialization values, and social support of elderly parents with young and olders mothers. A total of 314 mothers of infants (young mothers) and 395 mothers of adolescents (older mothers) completed a questionnaire compiled by Schwarz, Chakkarath, Trommsdorff, Schwenk and Nauck(2001) comprising of values of children, cultural values, socialization values, interpersonal relationship, social support, stress, and life-satisfaction. In terms of values of children, the older mothers are more likely to emphasize social values, such as continuing the family line. Young mothers are more likely to emphasize psychological values, such as the pleasure of seeing a child grow. As for reasons for net wanting to have children, young mothers are more likely to point out personal constraints than older mothers, such as restriction of freedom. Second, older mothers are more likely than young mothers to express willingness to provide support for their children and even when their children become adults. Older mothers had a more lenient expectation of their children in terms developmental timetable and to expect support from their children when compared with young mothers. Young mothers are more likely to socialize their children with greater warmth and at the same time have higher child-rearing stress when compared to older mothers. Third, when compared with older mothers, young mothers are more likely to receive practical and emotional support from their parents. On the other hand, older mothers are more likely to provide greater practical and emotional support to their parents than the young mothers. Overall, compared to young mothers, older mothers are more likely to hold traditional and conservative values of children and socialization values. These contrasting values reflect the changes in family structure and social change that have been progressing rapidly in recent years.
This study examined frequency of contact between parents and their non-coresident, never-married daughters and sons compared to children in other marital statuses. Despite an increasing number of never married adults, little is known about the extent to which they may be willing to remain connected to and exchange support with their parents. The data were drawn from first wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA, 2006). For analyses, respondents who had at least one non-coresident child aged 40 or older were selected, resulting in the analytic sample of 2,755 parents with 7,741 children. Both sibling fixed effects regression models and regression models with robust standard errors were estimated using the xtreg and reg procedures in STATA. Findings revealed significant marital status by gender interaction effects on face-to-face contact. Never-married daughters were more likely to see their parents compared to their married, divorced, or widowed counterparts. Never-marred sons, on the other hand, reported slightly lower levels of in-person contact with their parents in comparison to married sons and lower levels of contact compared to divorced or widowed sons. More frequent contact via phone, mail, or email was reported in daughter-parent relationship compared to son-parent relationship, but no significant marital status by gender interactions were observed.

This study is aiming for evaluating the factors influencing rehabilitation medical desire in parents (RMDP) with developmental disability children. This study was made with a randomized sample of 156 parents, who were given a questionnaire about how they feel medical needs for their children. The results of the study were as follows: The RMDP is significantly high in relatively the older aged parents group(p<.01). The RMDP is significantly high in severe disability group(p<.01). The RMDP is significantly high in the more spend group of monthly medical cost(p<.05). The group difference of RMDP by monthly income or movement type of disability is not significant(p>.05). It is thought that medical staff need to be actively involved in parents group with developmental disability children to improve motivation, who is relatively the younger than 35 years old or has mild to moderate disability degree of child.
