The use of online shopping mall has been increasing rapidly, which reflects the convenience and economic benefits associated with its usage. As with traditional offline businesses, internet businesses have to manage customer relations to provide better services in order to ensure their business sustainability. In this regard, identifying the influencing factors to reuse intention of online shopping mall is very important. In this paper, we aim to examine the effects of perceived and individual variables on intention to reuse in the context of online shopping mall. In order to analyze the antecedents, we selected perceived and individual factors such as shopping enjoyment, concentration, perceived variety and maximizing tendency. For empirical analysis, we surveyed real users of online shopping mall. As a result, all antecedents showed significant influence on intention to reuse except perceived variety and among the variables the concentration has top standardized coefficient. In addition, perceived variety has significant effect on shopping enjoyment but not on concentration. Maximizing tendency is related to shopping enjoyment and concentration significantly. The results of this research can be useful guidelines for online shopping mall providers.
Motivations to engage in internet shopping as well as traditional off-line shopping include both utilitarian and hedonic dimensions. It is important that online fashion retailers offer the sense of the real shopping experience that offline fashion retailers do. This article is to assess empirically virtual model impact on consumer's online shopping experience. To test hypothesis, an experiment was executed a field study on foreign internet shopping(www.landsend.com). Prior to administering the experiment, a pilot test was conduct among 20 undergraduate students to pre-test for computer system trouble and delay problem. The experiment was conducted to 90 studetns. The participants were instructed to answer all the questons based on their experience when using that particular internet shopping mall. The LISREL 8.50 was used for statistical analysis. The results indicate that the virtual model characteristics such as vividness, customization, and interactivity are important factors in affecting consumer's shopping experience. Online shopping experience have a strong positive effect on shopping mall loyalty.
Purpose: While previous studies mainly focus on one shopping expectancy in the context of e-commerce or m-commerce, this study examines the relationship between consumers' performance and effort expectancy and their shopping intentions in the omnichannel retail environment in which both online and offline shopping channels are utilized concurrently in a single shopping journey. Research design, data and methodology: This study measured consumers' performance expectancy, effort expectancy, attitudes, and intentions toward an omnichannel shopping service. A survey was developed using an online survey platform and distributed to U.S. consumers for a 3-week period and 470 usable responses were obtained. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling were performed to test the reliability and validity of the measurement model and research model portraying the hypothesized relationships among constructs. Results: The results confirm that both performance and effort expectancy from shopping affected consumers' attitudes toward omnichannel shopping. The positive attitudes increased their omnichannel shopping intentions. Conclusions: Retailers should promote omnichannel strategies as effective shopping tools to improve consumers' shopping experiences and outcomes. This study suggests that retailers should implement omnichannel strategies that synchronize the retail channels they offer and promote the strategies as effective means to enhance customers' shopping outcomes and experiences.
Despite the growing online exposure of retailes, offline retail channels still outperform online channels in the total retail volume of some countries. There is much interest in the physical layout plans of retail stores to expand sales. Product placement that have a large impact on customer purchasing behavior at offline retailers influences customer movement and sales volume. But in many cases, each retailer relies on unsystematic and autonomous product placement. When multiple products are sold with one purchase, the customer's movement for shopping may be evaluated in terms of customer efficiency and additional impulse purchase. In this paper, the social network is applied to sales data of a retail store and the result is used for evaluation of product placement and customer path. The frequent sales product composition was identified using k-core from sales data in the form of shopping baskets. The location was checked for the identified compositions of products, the spatial variance was measured and the customer's path was identified. With these results, the store arrangement of products was evaluated with appropriate improvement directions. The analysis method of this paper can be an alternative analysis approach for better layout of retail stores.
Purpose: As one of the ongoing studies on the distribution industry, the purpose of this study is to identify the research trends on online shopping so far to propose not only the development of online shopping companies but also the possibility of coexistence between online and offline retailers and the development of the distribution industry. Research design, data and methodology: In this study, the English abstracts of 645 papers on online shopping registered in scienceON were obtained. For the analysis through BERTopic and LDA using Python 3.7 and identifying which topics were interesting to researchers. Results: As a result of word frequency analysis and co-occurrence analysis, it was found that studies related to online shopping were frequently conducted on factors such as products, services, and shopping malls. As a result of BERTopic, five topics such as 'service quality' and 'sales strategy' were derived, and as a result of LDA, three topics including 'purchase experience' were derived. It was confirmed that 'Customer Recommendation' and 'Fashion Mall' showed relatively high interest, and 'Sales Strategy' showed relatively low interest. Conclusions: It was suggested that more diverse studies related to the online shopping mall platform, sales content, and usage influencing factors are needed to develop the online shopping industry.
Shopping is a work and fun for a consumer. Retailers satisfy social and physiological needs through various experiences as well as economic and rational. Do offer online shopping malls fun and hedonic experiences that offline retailers do? This study applied the hedonic-experiential value relating to the consumption dimension of fun and excitement to online shopping. Especially, a model of online hedonic-experiential value, consisted of its antecedents and consequences, was developed and identified through a survey(n=436). As the result, graphic & multi-media, site structure & design, customer services, payment, individualization, product assortment & display, interactivity, dynamic pricing factors influence online hedonic-experiential value. Also, online hedonic-experiential value significantly related to revisiting, purchasing, and word-of mouth intention of the shopping site. The implications for online retailer are discussed and further research is suggested.
Since the emergence of Internet service, the revenue from e-commerce has been exponentially growing. Especially, the consumption by men in online retailers is distinctively different from that in traditional bricks-and-mortar retailers. Facing these interesting phenomena, researchers as well as businesses have begun to pay attention to e-commerce and online consumers. However, research on consumer behaviors in the online channel has not made a careful investigation into gender behavioral differences in the online channel. Therefore, we provide a profound understanding of gender differences in online shopping behavior compared to those in offline shopping behaviors. Through our findings from this research, we draw researchers' attention to consumer behavior in the online channel, gender differences in online shopping. Also, we suggest practical implications to online marketers using data collected from one of the major online retailers.
This study investigated the store switching behavior of fashion stores targeting college students. A random sample of college students completed a questionnaire that contained measurements of store property, relationship quality, switching intent of store, preference of on/offline store, purchase of brand/non-brand product and monthly clothing expenses. The factors extracted as switching behavior of on/offline fashion store are store property, relationship quality and switching intent of store. Dimensions of store switching behavior in online shopping mall is revealed to be composed of diversity/ easy to search, store reliability, home page layout, sales promotion, reliability, commitment and switching intent of store. Also those of offline store is revealed to be composed of store comfort/salespeople service, product diversity, store location, product price, reliability, commitment and switching intent of store. The significant differences were found between store switching behavior of college students by preference of on/offline store and purchase of national brand/non brand. It is expected that this results can be used as a basic material for further study and setting up the fashion retailing strategies in fashion store for selling non brand products.
Purpose: Omni-channel retailing is a new retail phenomenon. Consumers in the omni-channel environment do not rely on one channel but integrate different channels from the same retailers freely during a particular shopping journey. The purpose of this study is to better understand omni-channel shoppers in the fashion retailing context. The present study uses consumer characteristics -- fashion innovativeness, technology innovativeness, and fashion purchase involvement -- as determinants predicting consumers' omni-channel shopping intentions for fashion products. Research design, data, and methodology: Data were collected from 403 U.S. consumers, and the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was performed to test proposed hypotheses. The survey for this research consisted of three parts. The first part measured consumer traits in terms of their innovativeness and purchase involvement. The second part was designed to measure consumers' omni-channel shopping intentions, and the third part gathered consumer demographic information. Results: The findings confirmed that fashion innovativeness, technology innovativeness, and fashion purchase involvement positively affected consumers' omni-channel shopping intentions. Conclusions: Fashion retailers should integrate various customer touchpoints and offer mobile-enabled technologies to boost consumer traffic to both online and offline stores. They also need to create a shopping environment that is optimized for customer engagement in various shopping processes and allow them to explore different shopping channel options for best purchase decisions.
