A Longitudinal Investigation of the Moderating Effect of Social Support on Job Strain Developing Non-Specific Neck Pain in Office Workers

  • Purpose: This study examined the interactions between the job strain and social support in the workplace on the development of workrelated neck pain in office workers. Methods: The participants included 62 office workers without neck pain over the last twelve months. A battery of measures evaluating the potential workplace risk factors in office settings were conducted at the baseline, and at the 12 month incidence of work-related neck pain was reported via monthly questionnaires. Survival analysis evaluated the interaction effect between job strain and social support on the development of work-related neck pain. Results: The incidence of work-related neck pain was 1.91 (95% CI: 1.06 - 3.45) per 100 person months. The interaction effect between job strain and social support found that job strain may increase the risk of developing new work-related neck pain when lower social support existed in the workplace. On the other hand, the adverse effects of job strain on the development of neck pain were not significant when workers had higher social support from their colleagues and supervisors. Conclusion: An investigation of the moderating effects of risk factors on neck pain might reveal the unexplained relationship between the risk factors for the development of neck pain in office workers. Therefore, the interest in prevention plans and treatments should involve a comprehensive understanding of the risk factors at workplace.

사무직 근로자의 사회심리적 업무환경과 자기효능감이 정신건강에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Psychosocial Work Environment and Self-efficacy on Mental Health of Office Workers)

  • Purpose: This study aims to assess the effects of psychosocial work environment and self-efficacy on stress, depression, and burn-out among office workers. Methods: Survey data were collected from 331 office workers who worked in one workplace from April 10 to 30, 2012. The impact of psychosocial work environment and self-efficacy on stress, depression, and burn-out was analyzed with hierarchical multiple regression using SAS version 9.3. Results: Work-family conflicts and emotional demands were identified as main factors influencing mental health. Other work environment factors influencing mental health were role clarity for stress, possibilities for development, meaning-of work, social support-from supervisors and job insecurity for depression, and social community at work for burn-out. Self-efficacy was correlated with most psychosocial work environment and factor with independent influence on stress and depression. The final models including general characteristics, psychosocial work environment, and self-efficacy accounted for 34%, 44%, and 36% for stress, depression, and burn-out respectively. Conclusion: To promote mental health in office workers, there is a need to decrease work-family conflicts and emotional demands and to improve work organization and job contents, social support, and self-efficacy.

  • Predicting a box office gross in the film industry is an important goal. Many works have analyzed the elements of a film making. Previous studies have suggested several methods for predicting box office such as a model for distinguishing people's reactions by using a sentiment analysis, a study on the period of influence of word-of-mouth effect through SNS. These works discover that a word of mouth (WOM) effect through SNS influences customers' choice of movies. Therefore, this study analyzes correlations between a box office gross and a ratio of people reaction to a certain movie by extracting their feedback on the film from before and after of the film opening. In this work, people's reactions to the movie are categorized into positive, neutral, and negative opinions by employing sentiment analysis. In order to proceed the research analyses in this work, North American tweets are collected between March 2011 and August 2012. There is no correlation for each analysis that has been conducted in this work, hereby rate of tweets before and after opening of movies does not have relationship between a box office gross.

서울특별시도시철도공사 STnF 구축과 성과 (SMRT STnF Construction and Performance)

  • SMRT(Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation) changed PC-oriented office system to Smart-Phone oriented mobile office system(STnF: SMRT Talk & Flash), and provided smart phone to all staffs. STnF make it possible not only voice communication between staff, but also to input and inquiry all kind of information related to work(ex: Facility maintenance, Rolling Stock management, office management, Finance, human resource etc.) based on smart phone. STnF conquers the limitation of time and space. All staffs can commute to the site directly to reduce moving time and to share information between staffs, so SMRT improve speed and reliability of work by making a quick decision and action on the spot. After introduction of STnF, within 1 year, the equipment failure ratio fell to 47%. Mobile office system reduced and level-off the step of approval. so enhanced civil customer service. Quantification and scientific movement of work make it fast evolution and development. These business improvement make it possible to put more outstanding manpower on new business and R&D project, and this contributes to company's management effectiveness.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the current office work environment and suggest the needs for improvement the quality and efficiency of work. To fulfill this task, information describing various environmental conditions was gathered from generally large offices in Pusan and Major cities in Kyoungnam. Data were collected on questionnaire's general information, lighting, air quality, temperature, health problems, noise and equipment arrangements, and the size fo workspace. The extent to which the attitudes and behaviors of workers were related to these environmental conditions was then examined and scrutinized. According to the development of office automation, the interest in improvement of office environment become increased. Workstation size, individual environmental control, health care, adequate storage space and noise control should be recognized as critical to the worker's environmental satisfactiov. Finally, based on the results of this study, a number ofrecommendations can be made for alleviating some of the problems that have been identified. Designers should be interested in knowing if their environments actually function in the manner in which they were intended.

Development of Ergonomic Balance Seat(e-BASE) Chair

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to develop an ergonomic office chair that has an alarm function for the unbalanced sitting postures. Background: Contrary to expectation, it is reported that office workers sit on their chairs much more in unbalanced postures during daily work. Even though an office worker uses an ergonomically good-designed chair and begins their work in a good sitting posture, his/her posture is likely to shift to the unbalanced bad posture. Therefore, a posture alarm system would be very helpful in keeping office workers' good postures. Method: We developed a prototype chair with four load cells under a seat pan and one load cell beneath a backrest. Through some experiments, we set the criteria for unbalanced bad postures then implemented the criteria into the alarm system of the prototype chair. The chair called e-BASE chair could detect unbalance postures and show alarms for chair users. We also enhanced back support by developing a step-wised folding backrest. Results: The e-BASE chair showed better performance in interface pressure distributions and balanced posture ratio in VDT work. Conclusion: The ergonomic chair with posture alarm function(e-BASE chair) was developed. It showed better performance in seat pressure distribution and in keeping good posture during office work. Application: The posture alarm system and folding backrest can be applied to the new models of office chair.

업무공간의 조명환경 평가 연구 (A Study on evaluation of lighting environment of people who works in the office spaces)

  • For the company, the office space is the expensive resource next to human resource. Employees are under the influence of physical characters of the office space. Among them lighting is the most effective factor in physical, biological and psychological for employees. Although there are lots of investments in architectural aspect of the office space, there is almost no investment and consideration about the lighting environment. Therefore this study was trying to find out these things as follow. First, evaluate lighting environment of people who works in the office spaces. Second, find out which factors are more affective in evaluation of lighting environment. And then with these findings this study found what should be considered as important in lighting planning of the office space. As the result of this study, however the majority of the employees are satisfied with current lighting conditions, they are not satisfied with individual operation of lighting. And in office space work type and position changes by age can affect in a large degree more than other factors. Therefore when planning lighting of the office space, it is necessary to figure out work features of Individual and group exactly and accept the difference by positions appropriately.

  • 스마트 워크 (스마트 오피스)를 위해서 가장 많은 사용하는 방법은 RDP 원격 데스크톱 접속을 이용하는 것이다. 사무원이 전용 사무실 공간이 없는 경우에 스마트 오피스는 매우 유용하다. 즉, 사무원은 인터넷 카페, 공개된 지역 등에서 인터넷을 이용하여 자신의 컴퓨터에 접속할 수 있다. 이를 이용하여 업무를 효율적으로 처리할 수 환경이 만들어진다. 본 논문에서는 RDP 원격 데스크톱 접속을 이용하여 스마트오피스를 설계 및 개발하고자 한다. 스마트워크를 사용함으로써 업무를 이동하면서 해야 하는 직원을 위해서 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

스마트워크 환경이 비서직종사자의 조직유효성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 관심사와 일-생활 균형의 조절효과를 중심으로 (A Study on the Effect of Smartwork Environment on Office Administrators' Organizational Effectiveness: Moderated by Concerns and Work-Life Balance)

  • 조직 성과 및 효과 제고를 위한 인력관리의 핵심인 조직유효성은 오늘 기업사회가 ICT 기술기반 스마트워크 환경으로 진입하면서 그 중요성이 더욱 부각되고 있다. 비정형적 업무와 높은 직무긴장도 및 감정노동 등과 같은 업무특수성을 지닌 비서직 종사자에게 스마트워크 환경의 직무자율성과 정보기술의존성과 같은 특성들은 조직유효성에 더 예민한 영향요인으로 작용할 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 기업경영 환경이 ICT 기술 기반 스마트워크 환경으로 전환되어갈수록 비서직종사자의 조직유효성은 비서 개인이 가지고 있는 어떤 관심사 그리고 개인이 처해 있는 사적인 상황이나 가정생활 환경(WLB)에 의해 좌우될 수 있는 여지도 함께 상승할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 비서직종사자를 대상으로 스마트워크 환경에 대한 인식수준과 조직유효성(직무만족, 조직몰입, 혁신행동)과의 영향관계와, 개인 관심사와 일-생활 균형 수준의 조절효과를 실증분석 하였다. 정보기술의존성과 조직몰입을 제외한 모든 관계에서 유의한 정적인 영향을, 효과관심사는 모든 조직유효성 요인에 긍정적인 조절효과를, 자기관심사는 조직몰입과 혁신행동에 부정적인 조절효과를, 그리고 WLB는 조직몰입과 혁신행동에 긍정적인 조절효과를 보였다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 스마트워크 환경에서의 비서직종사자를 위한 인적자원관리 시사점과 조직효율성 제고 방안을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

공유오피스의 커뮤니티 중심 공간 구성 특성 (Space Composition Characteristics Analysis of the Community-Centered Shared Office)

  • The number of shared offices has increased and changed within the flow of the era into various forms in recent days. Co-working spaces and related shared space businesses are growing fast, keeping pace with the trend recently. It is confirmed that the need of spaces grew 180% since 2015 to 2017. Most of the shared offices in Seoul are placed in Gangnam circle, it is verified that shared office is providing work, space, and community by visiting cases of foreign companies, domestic companies, local companies. Meanwhile, shared space can be categorized into serviced office, co-working space, virtual office, and daily office. It is to consider various target levels by leasing service or the difference of costs. It is divided into forms of dispersion, circulation, and concentration and is planned to increase the utilization of communities' traffic according to the allocation of shared office. The business is conducted network-centered. During the process of communication, members can get chances to exchange and build communities. They are making business ecosystem which they can coexist and grow together. Shared offices have a view of a solution to empty rooms and will last for a while, and it is expected that co-working system be settled as office space and giving people sense of belonging on their workspace.
