기체연료주입계의 긴 원형도관에서 기체 흐름의 유형 (Gas flow pattern through a long round tube of a gas fueling system (I))

  • 기체저장용기, 단순 개폐밸브 및 기체 공급 관으로 구성된 기체연료 주입계는 가장 간단하게 사전에 기체 도입유형을 정할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 장치의 동작특성을 알아보기 위해 기체 흐름에 관한 일차원 동특성 방정식을 세우고 수치적으로 풀었다. 이 계산의 목적은 저장기체 압력, 저장용기 체적, 공급관의 굵기, 길이 따위의 기계적 요소들과 최대유량까지의 지연시간, 최대유량 값, 기체 펄스폭 따위의 기체 흐름의 유형을 결정하는 인자들 사이의 관계를 정립하려는 것이다.

  • In general, high temperature combustion technique has been adopted as an efficient one. However, hydrocarbon-based fuel can be decomposed under high temperature, and it can affect the stabilization mechanism of edge flame. In this research, basic experimental study was conducted to identify the effect of fuel pyrolysis on the lift-off flame stabilization by changing the temperature of the plug flow reactor. Schmidt number of the gas fuel can be changed with temperature variation due to the fuel pyrolysis. Eventually, this study will help to establish and clarify the stabilization mechanism of lift-off edge flame.

Off-road 엔진에서 WGT와 VGT장착에 따른 효율 및 특성 비교 (Compare Efficiency and Characteristics according to the WGT and VGT Application on the Off-road Engines)

  • The aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness of turbo chargers on engines for off-road use when combined with WGT and VGT technologies. The effectiveness of turbo chargers was measured and performance was compared using a functional model. Exhaust characteristics were compared using WGT and VGT technologies through a gas analyzer. Results showed VGT technology was more effective at high RPM compared to WGT technology. When it came to maximising turbo performance, VGT was more effective than WGT in every test. WGT and VGT produced similar exhaust NOx levels, whereas the VGT was more effective on the PM.

Crystallized Indium Tin Oxide Thin Films at a Low Temperature on Polymer Substrate by Off-axis RF Magnetron Sputtering

  • In this study, off-axis RF magnetron sputtering was used for the crystallized ITO thin films at a low temperature of about $120^{\circ}C$ instead of the conventional RF sputtering because the off-axis sputtering can avoid the damage for the plasma as well as fabrication of thin films with a high quality. The structural, optical and electrical properties of the obtained films depending on deposition parameters, such as sputtering power, gas flow and working pressure, have been investigated. The ITO thin films grown on PET substrate at $120^{\circ}C$ were crystallized with a (222) preferred orientation. 100-nm thick ITO films showed a resistivity of about $4.2{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}-cm$ and a transmittance of about 81% at a wavelength of 550nm. The transmittance of the ITO thin films by an insertion of $SiO_2$ thin films on ITO films was improved.

Plume의 주기성이 연층형성에 미치는 영향 (A Characteristics of Smoke Layer Formation Affected Periodicity of Fire Plumes)

  • ON-OFF 제트를 사용하여 plume의 주기성이 천장아래에 형성되는 연층에 미치는 정성적인 영향을 파악하였다. 사용된 연기는 가열에 의해 증발된 kerosene 입자를 섞은 질소가스이다. Laser sheet에 의해 산란된 유동장의 순간 상들은 디지털 비디오 카메라에 의해 녹화되었다. ON-OFF 제트와 연속제트의 연층형성 과정을 비교하므로서 화원근처에 형성되는 연층은 plume과 천장의 주기적인 충돌에 의해 지배됨을 확인하였다. 또한 plume의 주기적인 충돌은 연층을 두껍게하며, back-flow를 일으킴을 확인하였다.

Analysis of Poly(Ethylene-co-Vinyl Acetate) Using Off-line Pyrolysis

  • Poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) (EVA) was pyrolyzed to eliminate acetic acid of VA unit using off-line pyrolysis, and the deacetylated EVA was analyzed infrared spectroscopy (IR) and pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). EVA film for deacetylation was prepared by solution casting on aluminum foil and it was pyrolyzed at low temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ in the off-line pyrolysis apparatus. After deacetylation, carbon-carbon double bond (C=C) was formed by 1,2-elimination of the VA unit in the EVA backbone. Most of C=C bonds were trans-1,4-unit and 1,2-unit was also observed. Presence of the 1,2-unit in deacetylated EVA indicates that terminal or branch VA units exist in the raw EVA. Py-GC/MS chromatogram of deacetylated EVA displayed much smaller acetic acid and much more abundant other pyrolysis products than that of raw EVA, which means that the pyrolysis efficiency and separation condition were improved.

냉시동시 촉매의 예열시간 단축에 관한 연구 (A Study for Fast Light-Off of a Catalyst During Cold Start)

  • In order to meet the stringent emission regulations, fast light-off of a catalyst is essential to reduce the HC and CO emissions during cold start. Cranking Exhaust Gas Ignition (CEGI) method developed in this study showed that the catalyst reaches the light-off temperature in a few seconds after cold start. The CEGI system cuts off the ignition signal for a few seconds during the cranking period. so the unburned fuel-air mixture bypasses the combustion chamber and flows through the exhaust manifold. When the unburned mixture reaches two glow plugs installed upstream of the catalyst, it burns and releases the thermal energy to heat up the catalyst. Results from the FTP-75 tests showed that the exhaust emissions with the CEGI reduced by 47.7% for THC and by 88.6% for CO in the cold-transient phase of the test.

RF pulsing이 Ionized Magnetron Sputtering의 이온화율 향상에 미치는 효과 (Effects of RF Pulsing on the Ionization Enhancement in Ionized Magnetron Sputtering)

  • Ionized magnetron sputtering은 high density plasma를 사용하여 스퍼터된 입자의 이온화율을 기판에서의 플럭스 기준으로 80%이상까지 증대시킬 수 있는 방법으로 반도체 소자의 아주 작은 홀이나 via contact등을 채울 수 있는 아주 유용한 수단이나 가스의 압력 이 30mTorr 이상으로 상당히 높아야만 이온화율이 높게 유지되어 스퍼터 증착 속도가 느려 지고 중성입자의 각도 분포가 넓어지는 단점이 있다. 그 원인이 스퍼터된 입자들에 의한 전 자 온도의 급격한 감소와 타겟 주변에서의 가스 희귀화 현상에 있다고 보고 이를 보완하고 자 스퍼터 전력을 펄스화 하는 방법을 고안하여 실험하였다. 그 결과 펄스의 on/off time이 10ms/10ms, 100ms/100ms에서 가장 높은 이온화율을 가시광 분광 결과에서 보였으며 실제 로 Ag의 XRD결과 (111)에서 (200)으로 우선 방위의 현격한 변화가 관찰되었다. 이를 고전 력 스퍼터링에 의한 중성 가스 가열과 냉각의 측면에서 해석하였다.

  • 가스발생기 산화제 개폐밸브는 추진기관 엔진공급계에 적용되며, 산화제 개폐를 안정적으로 하는 것을 목표로 한다. 작동유체인 액체산소(LOx)의 유동특성을 고려한 산화제 개폐밸브의 내부 유동 특성을 상용 Software인 FLUENT(Ver. 6.3.26)를 이용해 모사해 보았으며, 작동 압력에 따른 안정성을 NASTRAN(2005 r.2)과 PATRAN(2005 r.2)을 사용하여 계산해 보았다. 밸브의 내부형상 변화에 따른 유량예측 및 구조해석 결과 유량은 2.3~3.8 kg/s, 안전계수는 1.09~1.42 정도로 계산되었다.

Impact of energy efficiency improvement on greenhouse gas in off-season tomato farming: Evidence from Punjab, Pakistan

  • Energy consumption in agriculture is responsible for greenhouse gas emission but it can be reduced after efficient utilization of energy inputs. Therefore, the present study aims for the estimation of energy efficiency and extent of greenhouse gas reduction after benchmarking of inefficient farms in off-season tomato in Punjab province of Pakistan. Primary data were collected from 70 farmers with simple random sampling. By using data envelopment analysis, the average value of technical, pure technical and scale efficiency was 0.80, 0.92 and 0.87, respectively while increasing, constant and decreasing return to scale was observed in 33, 26 and 11 farmers, respectively. Total input energy was reduced by $12,688.91MJ\;ha^{-1}$ (13.89%) if inefficient farms used the energy inputs according to recommendations or benchmarking. A major portion of energy saving comes from fertilizers (68.79%) followed by diesel (15.70%), chemicals (5.91%), machinery (4.37%) and water (4.00%). Total greenhouse gases reduction was $499.17kg\;CO_2\;eq.ha^{-1}$ (14.57%) as a result of improvement in energy efficiency or benchmarking of inefficient farms. Agricultural extension staff should visit the vegetable farms on regular basis and give necessary information about efficient utilization of energy inputs. The government should create awareness about the optimum use of input through seminars and pamphlets.
